Hey, I just recorded two guitar solos over this outro, I was curious how it sounds I think I fucking overplayd it but it was raw improvisation. clyp.it/cmp4jrkwCheers. bardes would you know how to mix your solo into the full song? You've recorded a clip of the outro, it'd be cool if we could have an alternate version of the whole song with your first solo at the end.

'One of Us' reached 210k streams on Spotify after a bit more than one day. It took 'This is the place' about a week to achieve about the same level (235k). They're both good songs so why does it matter. If you're arsed about streams, go listen to Ed Sheeran and Capaldi. People are always going to compare how Liam & Noel tracks when they're out around the same time, and honestly, I don't see a problem with it. I for one am always interested in little stats like this. And honestly, what do you even mean by that last sentence? Being interested in streaming numbers doesn't mean you like music by artists that are immensely popular on streaming platforms.

What's this song got to do with Violet Hill? :/

What's this song got to do with Violet Hill? :/ Its a distant cousin. Not enough to be sued, but definitely Wyatt heard the song before writing this one, and unconsciously had the verses it in mind. Reminds me of that bit Conan used to do where they plagiarized songs but just enough not to be sued. Cant remember the title of that bit.

Hmm, now that you mention it, there is a similarity there, what with the vocals slipping down to the lower register at the end of every verse. That's pretty much where it ends, though, I don't think there was a conscious effort to replicate the tune.

Wyatt has absorbed all those songs and he's creating new stuff based on those. Unless Liam wrote the verses, but i doubt it. they're definitely inspired though, rhythmically speaking. but not note for note.

The poster in question uses streaming numbers like it's in anyway an indication as to the quality of the song, was my point. There's nothing wrong with liking ES or not liking ES. But it's just no way to gauge the quality.

Take away the fanboy marks for this and it’s what it is, a 3/10.

I actually prefer this is the place over this. First Liam track in this cycle that I've liked less than the Noel stuff. I like it and all, I think its his "how do you sleep" or the song with pie in the sky as a lyric (forgot which one it was ) still a good song and very different from anything he's done, the closest being maybe cast no shadow? I reckon it sounded amazing at the MTV unplugged. Can't wait till that footage comes out!

While you're at it, you could also make a complete version of the song with your second solo so we could have both 😉

Can't believe my favorite song writer of all time has fell this far.

Any chance that the lines "Today 16 years ago / It was you and I for the last time" refer to what I think was their last joint interview:
If he wrote it last year it was 16 years from 2002.

I actually cringed watching the new Noel Video. The decline is tremendous, he really needs someone in his circle to tell him that the new stuff and direction is horrific. I actually prefer this is the place over this. First Liam track in this cycle that I've liked less than the Noel stuff.
