This is why, even though Liam opening with RNRS and MG has pissed some people off, at least he opens with two song every single person in that room recognises. It's an immediate boost to proceedings. THEN you can get away with playing some new material. With a support slot like this, Noel really should be focusing on crowd-pleasers, otherwise what's the point? I got news for ya, if you are going to go see Noel Gallagher in 2019, you probably already know all his solo material including the new stuff. You just don't stumble Into a Noel show in 2019. You already have a history with him. Its not like he's touring as Oasis and people are seeing it, buying tickets and going.

Having his solo songs earlier in the set, when the majority of the people who are there are probably his fans, and then having the Oasis songs lumped into the second half when the majority of people who are now there are Smashing Pumpkins fans makes perfect sense too. I think that's a near perfect set list for the support slot.

I’ve not been at the gigs but I also quite like the setlist he’s got for this tour. All new material until the last third is a bold move and whether you like the new stuff or not, you can appreciate its good to see some artistic risk taking. Having 2 older oasis classics and 2 newer ones (SCYHO, LBL) and a cover works well IMO.

Great show. Joking how HC is alive & well...LBL & SCYHO got huge responses.
I liked the bow at the end. Noel was into it. Kept referring to “hello Baltimore”. Maybe they can truck him into a DC show on his next tour leg.
Good stuff. Went for more beers during Wonderwall. bSD didn’t sound as good as I’d hope. TITP sounded pretty good.
Great seat to check out Jessica. Good crowd turnout. Mostly Pumpkin fans tho lotsa folks standing around me during Noel. All in all, another great show...glad I went. Had the whole row A to myself. Must’ve released those seats after holding them back. Makes me wish I’d gone to Camden show. Hopefully Moel back in 2020 w/ a new album.

So I went to Toronto and Michigan gigs, both were awesome but my camera got taken in Toronto which was lame 🙄 As for Michigan, Noel dedicated ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’ to me & my friend Ming after these two incredibly sweet guys offered us front row for Noel’s set (they were there for the Smashing Pumpkins)! This was my second song dedication ever from Noel 😍 He said “You’ve got my name on your chest!” Haha ... yes I sure did! It was a bootleg shirt I bought in Toronto outside previous NG gig! Best $5 I’ve ever spent 😂 The Guy next to me caught Noel’s last guitar pick of the show and kindly gave it to me, making it my first NG pick ever! Me and Ming both cried like teenagers ... Michigan, you are the kindest people ever and Noel thank you for making our night incredible!!! To see my photos check out my IG page here: instagram.com/lisa_rock_photographer

As far as 2019 being the year of Heathen Chemistry, it's funny to think about the breakdown of songs in Noel's current set:
1967: 1 song 1995: 2 songs 2002: 2 songs 2017: 5 songs 2019: 2 songs
... whatever he is, a 90s act he is not.

So does Noel come on first to anyone who’s gone already? And around what time will he come on? Sorry if it’s been answered already!

Have arrived at Dos Equis in Dallas. The crowd has about 55 minutes to materialize otherwise AFI appear to be giving me a private gig.

That was absolutely fantastic. It’s easy to quibble with the setlist on paper, but in person... they blew the roof off. Great gig.

One observation - I found it a little crass the way Noel was goading the audience before Black Star Dancing (“any Oasis fans here? Yeah, you love all that britpop shit, do you? Well this is for you”), but after This Is The Place, he said “thanks for indulging the songs you didn’t know - the first half of the gig was for me. But the rest of it is for you.”, and that seemed sincere. It took the unnecessary sting out of the earlier comment.

It’s sad to hear that. 25 years worth of beautiful music, and he just wants to play around with new sounds and structure—yet he feels like he has to apologize for it.

Felt sorry for AFI, most people were still coming in by their last song. The check-in process they have at the venue was crazy.
And yeah, it was a pretty good show tonight. Most of the crowd was not at all into it though. But by the end of the Pumpkins set a huge chunk of people were sitting down too. Was too hot.

I confess I left before the end of the Pumpkins for that reason. Just couldn't take it anymore. As far as the crowd not being into it, I guess it depends where you were, I was surprised around me to find a number of people singing along to the WBTM stuff even. Not everyone, obviously, but more than I expected.

For the folks that have attended one of the NG/Smashing Pumpkins shows, what do the stage times look like? Based on the time on your ticket, is that when AFI is performing? Or do they perform 1 hour after the start time on the ticket. Going to use the AFI stage time to get nice and baked
