Oasis was over, Liam is alone, without Gem and Andy and no Beady Eye of course.
A solo album by Liam in 2011, with his own material, under his own name, his songs on DGSS serving as a base.
Would it work?
Would it be possible?

I don't think so. I suspect, as harsh as it may sound, that those years of being not so successful with Beady Eye and afterwards of doing nothing were necessary for him to develop the right mindset. It probably wouldn't have worked with his (post-)Oasis attitude.

Nah, the world wanted to give Liam a kicking in 2011. He came back as the underdog and people (and the media) hadn't realised how much they'd missed him.

"You'll never know, unless you try. You're blinded by what you idolize."
I think that sums up Beady Eye quite well. It failed, but he learned so much from those years. He needed Beady Eye to get to where he is now.

Agree with all of the above.
Plus the timing of his comeback last year was everything. He'd been out of the limelight long enough to become something of a nostalgia act. He appealed to both the 15 year old kids who were just discovering Oasis and missed him the first time around and to the 40+ year olds who lived through Oasis and wanted to relive their youth. There wasn't any appetite for Liam in 2011.

Don't forget "Supersonic". It was the perfect timing for Liam to announce his solo career when the movie came out, which did paint him in a very positive light than what people thought about him before, in general.

Nah. Beady Eye were inevitable and Liam learnt a lot from that experience I reckon.
Also, remember Liam's private life was in turmoil during that period.

Maybe if he had Warner and Urok behind him as he does now. With Quest incl Gwythers managing him he had no chance.

Liam learnt a lot with Beady Eye, it served as a step stone for him, its failures made him more humble I guess, also Supersonic paved the way for his solo sucess.

I struggle to see how it wouldn't have worked. I think (like what you seen with posts in the beady eye section) that those who dislike Liam will always say he would have failed.
In 2011, if hes the first Gallagher out there releasing something under his name and the first song is Wall Of Glass, hes garunteed a great start. I dont see any logic in suggesting he wouldnt be successful from that.
Beady Eye not having his name was one of, if not, the biggest problem. The other issues like song quality dont wash with me.
The Roller, Four Letter Word, Morning Son, Wigwam etc are all stronger or at least as strong as half of As You Were, and while i realise he only written the last 2 of those, im just talking about the comparisons purely in songwriting only.
What would be an interesting discussion is what effect As You Were coming out in 2011 would have on NGHFB album. Would it only increase the momentum in interest for the Gallaghers, or would it make Noels effort less needed as a way to fill the Oasis void in our lives at the time?

"The name...the name"
Oh please. Everyone who had heard of Beady Eye knew it was Oasis minus Noel. Plus people have ears, right? Liam's voice is so recognizable.
Beady Eye failed because they weren't very good. Unless Liam had released As You Were back then, I don't think a solo album would have been that good either. I don't think he had it in him yet.

I don't regret Beady Eye one bit. DGSS had some great stuff on it. And that Chicago gig in 2011, man. Absolutely mental!! One of the best gigs of my life 😎

Put HFB album on the other day and it has nothing like the engergy DGSS has. It just plonked a couple of tracks on ads and got lucky that way.

I'm genuinely surprised by the responses here. For me not only could Liam have gone solo in 2011, he should have. Beady Eye was a complete failure and one of the main reasons the As You Were comeback worked was by airbrushing that (and most of the 2000s) from the Gallagher history. It's true that the whole underdog thing has helped Liam, but he was always going to be the underdog; Noel is always going to be the favourite. If As You Were had come out straight after Oasis, with Wall of Glass being the first post-Oasis single, it would have been even bigger IMO.

The thing is: in 2011 Liam didn't have As You Were, Wall of Glass, Bold..., these are his 2017 songs, in 2011 he only had Beatles and Stones, Bring The Light, Morning Son..., the question is, could Liam have released a solo album with those 2011 songs and having sucess that year?

Dont tell me it would make a difference that Beatles and Stones would be on there instead of I Get By or You Better Run.

Beatles and Stones is a 2/10 at best for me. I'd at least give those two 4/10 spots, but no more than 5/10.
Now maybe the latter rating is based on the freshness of the material, but I don't think so. They are produced better and have less annoying melodies. They also don't sound dated.

I think youre wrong. I dont think the quality of the fillers is that different. Id even say Beatles and Stones is more enjoyable than I Get By. I think the lesser songs on As You Were feel like theyve been quickly written for the purpose of filling the album too. Stuff like Wind Up Dream is much stronger than Better Run and When Im In Need IMO

Before you're calling someone ignorant, please read the comment properly. I read it perfectly. You say everyone who had heard of beady eye. The problem was not enough had. Noels album got way more success than it deserved. Its not a great album but it did great. He got a huge advantage by having his name on it. Likewise Liam has that now. Itd be great if a brilliant album = brilliant sales but in reality Noel did well out of getting his songs on commercials and tv and Liam did very well out of the one love exposure around the sane time his lead single came out.
