You guys talk about WBTM like it's Heathen Chemistry or something, which is an absolute mess. WBTM is a good album with quality tunes (Fort Knox, Holy Mountain I stopped reading there.

In the quieter parts of the CY cycle, we still had the separate remix releases and the EP. We were waiting for Here's a Candle (For Your Birthday Cake) to show up, and Noel was posting on Instagram a lot more. Go Let It Out isn't being as well received as Champagne Supernova and Digsy's Dinner were, TIOBI and LBL being permanent fixtures was nice for us that have never got to heard them in these last solo tours, but it's more of the same for the shows where he's always playing them. Don't think I'd go see him 6+ times when the set includes If I Had A Gun, Wonderwall, Dead In The Water, Riverman, She Taught Me How To Fly, and Don't Look Back In Anger either, as much as I love this album.

WBTM is a good album with quality tunes (Fort Knox, Holy Mountain, It's a Beautiful World, She Taught Me How To Fly, If Love is the Law, The Man Who Built the Moon, Dead in the Water are all 7.5/10 or higher imo) and some nice tunes outside of that (Keep on Reaching, Black & White Sunshine, Be Careful What You Wish For; all 6/10 or higher). It feels like a movie soundtrack and it has a great flow to it, especially once you move the first interlude to after STMHTF, and Noel nailed the tracklisting. Noel has done some very good shows and the High Flying Birds is becoming fully realized with his large band and his live & studio sound is good (his performance on NPR's World Cafe comes to mind). I'd like to hear another batch of Holmes/Noel songs, except with some better lyrics, since I think the next batch is really going to come to life, even moreso than this batch, if Noel can continue on his experimental path. I loved "Heathen Chemistry." Don't get me wrong, I love the singles on HC, both the A-sides and B-sides, but some of the album tracks are all over the place and some of the worst Oasis tracks imo. Hung in a Bad Place and Born on a Different Cloud are alright, and She is Love has its days. Force of Nature is ehh, and Better Man could've been good had there been more work done to it and it being shorter. Probably All in the Mind was a lost cause imo. Shout it Out Loud, Idler's Dream, Thank You for the Good Times, and Heart of a Star were too good to leave off, but that would've overloaded the album with Noel-sung tracks.

IMO I like WBTM tour’s setlist, just want to leave Half the world away and aka what a life out of list, because those songs occur in the past too many time

Why are people still talking about Noel’s setlists? I thought we’d all already agreed to change the forum to be about the far, far more successful solo artist that is Dua Lipa? 800 million YouTube views... X

The first Noel album I haven't laid money down for and I've barely made 2 full listens through. It's clearly not a flop but I'm sat here listening to Oasis and Pre-WBTM Noel and have come to terms with the fact he doesn't make music for me anymore.
Fortunately Liam is so good luck to him.

I got an offer to do Playgirl Magazine, and I did it. I did a full spread for Playgirl Magazine. I mean spread man, I pulled my butt apart and stuff. I was totally nude. it was weird, I... I mean you probably didn't hear about it because I went under the name of Mike Honcho. But I just wanted you to know that. If you can hear me, if it got into your brain somehow. That I spread my buttcheeks as Mike Honcho. Thanks.

The last two albums make me wish oasis ended sooner. Liam was really holding Noel back. Noel has released some of his best work since the 90s.

It’s better live but don’t think he’s surpassed chasing yesterday

I don’t know if I’d go as far as to say I wish oasis ended earlier. Ideally I would’ve preferred that they took a break and noel did HFB and Liam did AYW or something similar. Then they came back and made their biggest album yet “dyer wanna be here now (man!!)”

Hate people like this. Completely unable--or should that be unwilling?--to understand culture and ideas that aren't aimed squarely at them. Middle-class bores in their echo chambers. Fuck them. Well, I like James Bond. So there!

I couldn't care less about album sales or figures, that sort of thing bores me rigid, although clearly the album isn't a flop or a failure.
I think this is the first album by either Gallagher, though, that hasn't really interested me. 4 of the 12 songs are instantly skippable and a couple of others are bang average songs masked my great production imo. I also thought Noel came across as a dislikable, namedropping prick in the promotion interviews and that turned me off.
Having said that, I thought he was great live, probably the best I've seen him. But the album cycle has been a bit forgettable overall for me.
