Much better than Humanz already. Humanz still hated by many I see. It's still hold's up for me, just a serious lack of Damon and more musical variations on it to make it a true classic. Sleeping Powder should have been on the album as it's a fantastic tune. But the good still out weights the negatives for me. But I have to say I love Humility, got that summer feel to it and has Damon on main vocal's so that's a good thing. Also we didn't have to wait years for a follow up.

Almost the entire album is up live on YouTube, and most of the songs are like Humility,Damon mainly singing them and got a huge summer vibe. Very promising. And for once, the album closer sounds good. Gorillaz have never finished an album with a good song imo. So finally.

Saw them at Rock im Park a few days ago where they debuted new songs. I must say they blended well in together and got good reception from the crowd.
Also Damon's teeth look so bad in person

It has some good moments (Ascension, Andromeda, We Got the power...) but the rest are just filler material for me. And even those good songs aren't good enough if you compare it with the best tracks from previous albums. Even the story was weak and confuse. I'm not saying it's a bad album, I'm sure is not and it got a lot of praise from people. But its not for me. But The Now Now sounds promising and we only waited one year for it.

Loving 4/4 songs. What a month is being! Both Johnny Marr and Gorillaz are putting out great records. Love the chorus of Fire Flies.

The lyrics on Hollywood are cringeworthy as fuck. Terrible lines. Good song though

The leak is partial I believe, for example the version of "Tranz" on the leak is a live recording, not studio
Same with Idaho, and I'm not convinced of the other songs
fake, all live versions and / or definite fake tracks. The only real ones are the ones properly released already.

Yeah, was wondering why you were talking about the leak when I just checked hasitleaked and it said it didn't

Sorry lads. My mistake. Hasitleaked sent me an email but when I downloaded the only real leaked song was Hollywood. Idaho and Kansas were fake and the rest were live recordings. My apologies

Really good album, not on the same level as the three first in my opinion but that could change with more listens.
Fav tracks right now: Lake Zurich, Humility, Souk Eye.

I've listened to it three times and honestly couldn't tell you a single thing about it.

Yet to listen to it, and as a huge huge fan of the first two albums, that’s disappointing. Demon Days is in my top three album of the noughties and will forever be. Not just because of its invention and sheer craft but a lot to do with nostalgia too.
Then 2010 came. A lot of people rate Plastic Beach but that’s the album where things started to become blurred for me (no pun intended). A lot of interesting things going on as ever, but it all amounted to a much of a muchness to me and nothing clicked. What I heard from Humanz amounted to the same indifference, so not overly rushed to hear this new one. Always intrigued as ever and I’ll give it a listen this month but it would be nice to have a bit more focus for one album from Damon Albarn for once.

The first two albums are utterly incredible, two of my favourite ever records and - particularly the debut - hold a great deal of nostalgia for me, as it was the first album I ever bought. One of the things I loved about Gorillaz was that the music and the "virtual band" story/art/videos were so in sync, completely related to one and other. And the vibe of both the music and videos were dark and eerie, and often zombie-esque, which really made everything about them interesting, you'd get absorbed in the world of Gorillaz. Then as you say, plastic beach came along and something was disconnected. The videos/art became a bit too comical and childish, and the music - although still good in places - wasn't the same, and became a bit more pop-y, and generic. Since then Gorillaz hasn't really been the same since. The music took a real turn downhill with The Fall and even more so with Humanz. This album musically is a huge improvement, and I enjoyed the new video, but I've yet to see whether the "Now Now" era encapsulates the same magic of Gorillaz way back in the early-2000s, however I doubt it.

I hope the next video is Souk Eye

I love songs like Souk Eye that Damon comes up with. Something about him, an acoustic guitar, and a drum machine always sounds so good
