Anyone heard of this before? "The one I have clear memory of from when the demos leaked was Where did it all go wrong? The version I heard was quite different from the album or other more widely available demos. It featured a flute part, and repeated the guitar solo as part of the fade-out." From here: monobrowdemos.wordpress.com/standing-on-the-shoulder-of-giants/

From here: monobrowdemos.wordpress.com/standing-on-the-shoulder-of-giants/I seem to remember a different version of this story. When the proper SOTSOG leaked occurred in early 2000, I recall that MP3 I had having a fade out guitar solo from the middle of the song repeated. It was obviously a mistake on however uploaded and ripped the album. It sounded dead cool, I use to have on the hard drive of my parents computer. But that was back in spring of 2000. I have no idea where to find that original leak version of SOTSOG. Does anyone actually still have the original leak from February 2000 on CD somewhere? Over to you Jim.

It was a strange rip oF WDIAGW - seemed like there was a second layer, running about 2-3 minutes behind. So you'd have the outro of Gas Panic over the intro of WDIAGW and right at the end, the solo from the middle of the track. I might still have it around somewhere.

Hit me up if you or anyone else finds it. Loved that “bad” rip.

Its not the semi-acoustic version is it? That's what I thought when I read the thread. Included on the US Demo CD in a yellow cardboard sleeve, if I recall. Nice version. Not sure if there's flute though, can't remember.

Not sure if there's flute though, can't remember. Just listened through, and no flute. Man, the production on SOTSOG is so good. The Semi-Acoustic version is better than the album version IMO.

Its not the semi-acoustic version is it? Nope. Its more like the album version of the song, pretty much exactly it but had that weird fade out of the guitar solo from the middle coming back at the end and fading out. It was a cool mistake. Sounded great. It was a mistake of the initial leak back in 2000. 100% different from the SOTSOG demo and acoustic version.

Anyone Oasis fan still got their hard drive from 2000 by any chance?

OK I've found the original Real Media (there's a blast from the past) file. Can anyone advise a free file share service where I've not got to sign up or any such nonsense?

I hope this works. Probably haven’t heard that initial leak of SOTSOG tracks since July 2000. Good luck!

Having trouble converting the original RealMedia file, so it wouldn't work with Clyp. However, I've uploaded the raw file to WeTransfer. VLC will play the file.
Obviously the quality isn't great, but this is what we had to put up with in late-1999!

Converted it to MP3 and uploaded it to Clyp for everyone. Quality is pretty rough. clyp.it/xzsngj2b

Was the original source material rough or just the transfer and digitizing it? Thanks.

Listening back it sounds like this rip had the same track playing underneath it but at a different point in the song and it was a happy accident with the fade out guitar solo which I still think sounds cool. Wish a more clean file existed but appreciate all the hard work on this front. Awesome job everyone!

You won't get a more clean file without artifically re-creating it (which is pretty easily done, I guess). This was THE rip going around at the time, the next leak was the CD rip a few weeks later.

I was just pointing out if you wanted a better version it could be done by recreation.
