Listened to the almost 40 songs of his entire solo catalogue in a row. Really solid material. I can't believe how good WMWN is. Not a single skip track. The songs that didn't click with me that hard are Be Still and Meadow. But the chorus on BS and the ending bit of Meadow are worth the listen.

So I've been spending some time with the bonus tracks over the weekend. I like them all, really. Wasn't completely sold on Invisible Sun to begin with but I'm starting to see the appeal. Still not sure I'd take anything off the album and replace them with the bonus tracks. BUT, I thought that maybe these bonus tracks could have been included on the album so I decided to play around with the running order and add them in. I came up with this:
1. Shockwave 2. Halo 3. Once 4. One Of Us 5. Now That I Found You 6. Glimmer 7. Why Me, Why Not 8. Invisible Sun 9. Be Still 10. Alright Now 11. Meadow 12. The River 13. Misunderstood 14. Gone
This runs really nicely IMO. Having Halo as track 2 give you a big, punchy 1-2, before Once gives you a bit of a breather. One Of Us takes us into a poppier section of the album with the run of that, followed by Now That I Found You & Glimmer. Next is Why Me Why Not, with the drama and urgency of the track being accentuated by the previous 3 tracks, which were more breezy. Invisible Sun keeps that up but brings in a bit of swagger which in-turn is kept up by Be Still. Then we have another moment of calm with Alright Now & Meadow before The River booms back into action. Then you have Misunderstood doing the same as Glimmer earlier on; accentuating the cinematic climax in Gone.
Honestly, if this had have been a 14 track album, I'd have had few complaints.

Anyway, this album is full of amazing intros/outros, catchy bridges, cool strings and musical ideas.
The devil is in the detail. :-)

My review: SHOCKWAVE: In a word, awesome...Ive always liked it upon the first listen, it was immediate and I've continued to like it. I think its way better than Wall of Glass and even though most don't seem to like it that much, in my opinion it was the perfect first single choice. 8.5/10 ONE OF US: This straight after shockwave makes you realise wow this is going to be a great album. Lyrically it's very beautiful and the video was amazing and it was great how they timed it to the 10 year anniversary for the Oasis breakup. This makes you realise how much Liam misses Noel and I hate Noel for just being a fucking prick of a brother, forget getting the band back together he's holding onto a grudge and he needs to get the fuck over it. Anyway, fantastic song and I LOVE the strings. 8/10ONCE: Absolute masterpiece. It's the best song on the album and it's one of the best songs either Gallagher has come out with post-oasis. I rate it so high, I'd say its even one of the best songs Liam has ever sung on. Initially, I wasn't too keen on the instrumental but its grown on me. 9.5/10 NOW THAT I FOUND YOU: It's good, catchy chorus and has a great summer feel to it. 8/10HALO: Ive never been a fan of piano driven music so naturally I'm not that keen on this one. I don't hate it but its one of the weaker tracks for me. 7/10WHY ME? WHY NOT. HOLY CRAP! I love this song! It's got Liam written all over it and the chorus is so addictive. Well constructed, I love the use of the strings again and sits perfectly after Halo and again...that chorus, amazing. 8.5/10BE STILL: Another one of the weaker songs in my opinion. Its okay but nothing amazing, it's the 'I Get By' of the album. 6/10ARIGHT NOW: The third weak song, can't say im a huge fan. But Liam's vocals are great. 6.5/10MEADOW: This has Beatles written all over it. John Lennon could have sung this song on the White Album. I wasn't keen on it upon hearing it the first few times but its grown on me. 7/10THE RIVER: I'm glad this was next because it picked up the pace and to be honest its a good song, it's the weakest single but its still very good. I love the instrumental and the message it's sending out. 7.5/10 GONE: One of my favourites and the perfect closer. Its fucking epic and the strings wow YEAHHHHHH YEAHHHHH its awesome. 9/10INVISIBLE SUN: WHY THE HECK WASN'T THIS ON THE ALBUM? Heavily influenced by Ian Brown and its the first groovy song on the album. 7.5/10MISUNDERSTOOD Okay, again, WHY THE HECK WASN'T THIS ON THE ALBUM? Seriously, you choose 'Be Still' and 'Alright Now' over these two songs...we're is the logic in this my god. Beautiful song 8/10GLIMMER: Not for me mate. But it'll appeal to some people for sure. 5/10Overall, I strongly believe its not as good as 'As You Were' that album may not have stronger singles but as a whole it's a lot better, in my opinion. Why Me? Why Not. is great, it's just not 'as good' as I was expecting. But 'As You Were' is probably my favourite album ever so it was a hard thing to beat. Why Me? Why Not. 8/10 Good review - pretty much my feelings as well. I think the highs on WMWN are higher than those on AYW but the lows are lower. I’m really not a fan of the blatant Beatles ‘references’. I don’t like Halo, Meadow, Alright Now, Invisible Sun or Glimmer. But the strength of the other songs makes up for these. Personal favourites are: One of Us Once Now That I’ve Found You Why Me? Why Not Misunderstood

Excellent album, you can really tell that Liam worked hard on this, vocally he’s challenged himself a bit, love the different moods, melodies & production, I think he has given fans, well 90% of them.. everything they wanted, a great album.
Bring on Knebworth 2020!

Absolutely love this record. All 3 bonus tracks are probably my favourites honestly. Liams built a really solid foundation for his solo career now. It’s great that this records being pretty widely praised critically (and will likely do well in terms of $$$). This solo venture could’ve been another situation like BE where it just fizzles out after the first album, but instead I feel like it’s been raised up a level here. Very proud of Liam. Seems he’s found a formula for success, I just hope he doesn’t get lazy in the future with his 3rd or 4th record. He should definitely take some extended time off after all this touring is done, get some of his own tunes written, and really go for the gold and knock #3 out of the park. Very optimistic about the future of LG as a solo star.

You hit the nail on the head in regards to the 3rd album, he should try to write some more tunes after this tour or during it, he’s not prolific, in that I mean he doesn’t write all the time but he can write an absolute tune when he wants to, I think with the people he’s working with everything seems to have clicked is a major success, as I said before, really love this album, some brilliant stuff on there! I wonder if it gives Noel a kick up the arse in terms of writing anthems again because he must like some of what he’s heard, wether he likes Liam or not

Don't know if its been metioned already but I found this on YouTube comments. The writing credits on glimmer for Alex and Constantine Veis is because of this, it's basically their tune with lyrics over the top.

One thing I hate about the way music is “fed” to me these days is that you get to hear like 3 songs before the release. Then once you get the album those songs somehow feel different and i stop listening to them when I play the album.

Indeed it is their tune; this original instrumental is really beautiful, thanks for sharing this!

Right here mate! I just got back from being overseas for a few months and am trying to settle back into the normal routine. So my thoughts on WMWN will have to wait a bit, because I haven't listened to the whole thing yet! I'll be sure to tag you once I write up my review though.

SOnny she cant hear you anymore fucking loads of fucking lolz and all that to the people saying Alright Now sounds american because of its Broadway reference Come on man, a working class hero from Burnage singing about Broadway is as authentic as a nun singing gangster rap. He lived in New York for years, not far from Broadway, so...
