So people getting more from the Radio X than the one they paid for? That's a head scratcher

...How many different versions of the same album are we supposed to buy so they can get their “#1s”? Doesn’t help us the fan/listener. We don’t get rich or share the glory. We get poor... Well if fans are buying multiple copies that's their choice to do so. I bought the 2CD deluxe version because most of the tracks are on that. I'n not buying the Japanese release for one bonus track (that should also have been on the 2CD deluxe version) and I don't have a turntable so I'm not wasting my money on any tracks exclusive to vinyl. In fact truth be told I download all Noel and Liam's music now via mp3 from "elsewhere" and first heard Noel's album that way. The deluxe CD I bought directly from his website will probably never actually get played or ripped.

The stunts are pretty crazy and show how broken the industry is. It’s not just Noel it ranges from Taylor Swift to The Smashing Pumpkins. How many different versions of the same album are we supposed to buy so they can get their “#1s”? Doesn’t help us the fan/listener. We don’t get rich or share the glory. We get poor. A lot of this obviously is tied to streaming albums and how no one buys physical albums anymore compared to the past so it’s now murky waters knowing who exactly the best “selling” in a given week. Crazy that the nft bundle didn't had the whole documentary just half of it Maybe the whole thing wasn’t really finished and they rushed it out early for this NFT? Recording finished months ago though. I can’t believe they didn’t drip more of it out onto the socials for promo 🤷

The people who made this don't know the modern rule for editing documentaries? No more than 10 or 15 seconds of footage before there's a cut to somebody being interviewed. It's not really a documentary... it's more like a collection of clips that shows various moments during the recording process. It's extremely captivating though... it's like being in the same room as Noel (and Johnny Marr!) while they're crafting their magic. Ok so it's more like Get Back? Sounds good.

The alternative is nothing. This is the real reason sales are so low and fans get ripped off by all these multiple versions. You’re the problem baker! 😂

Yeah, it's almost unedited and raw. Good stuff! It might get boring for casual fans but I love it. And Johnny Marr... what a fucking genius he is. A real master at work... riffs and riffs flowing through his hands in a completely natural way. It's nice to hear some guitar bits that didn't end up on the finished versions of the tracks.

Had a hectic week so hardly had chance to sit down and listen to the album properly in all it's glory until last night. Been playing the unreleased songs throughout the week so very familiar with them all now but I imagine these ratings will change in the coming weeks. Early thoughts:
1. I'm Not Giving Up Tonight - 9/10 - One of the best things he's done. 2. Pretty Boy - 6/10 - Very odd releasing this as the first single. It's alright. "She was a lot like me" is clearly the best bit of the song. 3. Dead To The World - 9.5/10 - Just gorgeous. Classic. 4. Open The Door, See What You Find - 8/10 - This one has grown on me a lot. The string melody is so good. 5. Trying To Find A World That's Been And Gone Pt. 1 - 9/10 - Loved the demo, love the finished version even more. Haunting. 6. Easy Now - 7.5/10 - Some say this is Noel on auto pilot but you still can't deny the melody, still enjoy this one a lot. 7. Council Skies - 5/10 - Worst song on the album for me by some distance, really don't like it. Again, a very weird single choice. Saw someone say it reminds them of lift music, I'd go along with that. 8. There She Blows! - 7/10 - Was quite underwhelmed with this one the first couple of listens but it's growing on me quite a bit now. Do think they should have made it a bit grittier and dirty though, got a lot of potential for that. 9. Love Is A Rich Man - 7/10 - Just a happy tune ain't it? The break in the middle reminds me of The Girl With The X-ray Eyes. 10. Think Of A Number - 9.5/10 - Probably the best song on the album for me and one of the best things Noel has done ever. The chorus gets me every time, reminds me of Fade Away a bit. So good. 11. We're Gonna Get There In The End - 8.5/10 - Do we class this as the closer? Improved on the demo again with the horns. Just a feel good tune full of energy. Love it.
Overall - 8/10
Really enjoying this album, the highs are absolutely brilliant. Strangely, the singles are the weakest bit of the album. What a time to be a Gallagher fan, long may it continue.

So people getting more from the Radio X than the one they paid for? That's a head scratcher To be fair, I found the one on the album download more interesting, Noel is a bit more sincere and there's more detail on the actual songs. There she blows is a bit of an anomaly as he basically acknowledges he has no idea what its about. I like those lyrics though because they paint quite a nice little story, similar to TMWBTM I wouldn't mind Noel doing more songs around invented characters. They're quite fun, and as has been said very Bowie - but in a good way rather than the awful pastiche of x-ray eyes. The commentary on TTFAWTBAG is interesting as he says it's not just about the pandemic, but going back to 'that fucking Brexit referrendum' how it's been one thing after another, the world has gotten worse, and we're not getting back what we had. Might reassure those who think he's gone full tory. I think those of us above a certain age who remember Britpop (late 30s+) and the optimism of that time will certainly sympathise with what he says about what we've lost. I'm glad I lived through that, it's hard to imagine the country ever being like that again. My brother is 13 years younger than me and was born in 96 so he obviously didn't experience it, it's hard getting across just what it was like. It seems impossible now. My parents were big labour voters and had me out posting leaflets, I remember how excited they were in '97 after all those years of the Tories. Then there was Euro '96, a lot of things came together, kind of the opposite of what's happened the last few years. Good to remember that given what happened later - my mum despises Blair and is a hardened Cobynite. Completely different to the current situation, people may hate the Tories but there's nothing positive anyone is getting behind. While I'm on the topic I really feel like social media has done some terrible damage to society and people's well-being, we used to just read the newspaper at the start of the day and then get on with things without worrying about what someone we don't know and will never meet thinks about things. Now anyone on twitter spends all day exposed to things that upset or anger them. I finally deleted twitter when I went on holiday a few weeks ago and haven't reinstalled it - best thing I ever did. It feels like a big social experiment, noone really knows how kids like my niece and nephew who are exposed to tablets and YouTube and social media from birth will be affected. The human brain is still essentially evolved for the stone age. But maybe I'm just an old man shouting at clouds, I did turn 40 this year so like Noel have been in a fairly reflective mood, which is probably another reason this album has resonated with me.

Bought the standard Cd from his website which came with a A4 photo print of hand written lyrics and his two line squiggle of an autograph - nice gimmick to help sales.
Enjoying the album but can’t help thinking it sounds like a mixture of his first two solo albums, should be called Chasing Yesterday Part 2. ‘The cold against my shoulder ‘ line anyone... YouTuber James Hargreaves has explored the song Council Skies is a mixture of 3 of his previous songs

I thought it was pretty funny when they said they were starting a petition to get Oasis to reform and he responded by saying he was starting a petition to get the Foos to split up 😂 If it is true that he blocked the Oasis songs from the Taylor Hawkins gig from being broadcast then that’s pretty shitty but we all know his beef was with Liam there really… 🥩

Hawkins only said the comment and had the pic of them on his drum kit out of love for the band. It would be karma if the Foo Fighters get number one in my book.

Noel quit Oasis because “the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable”. I kinda understand why he doesn’t like people such as The Foos and Matt whatshisname sticking their nose into his personal business. It’s about much more than just the band reforming. You love Oasis Dave and Taylor? Great… so Noel and his family should put up with all that again just cos you like the band?

Sure, Noel's response to the Foos thing wasn't nice, but I understand how he wouldn't want other people involved with what is a personal decision that goes beyond the music, especially if it's not a random fan on the streets but other musicians (doesn't help that said musicians are close to Liam, either) Then people tend to forget Taylor was as much of a c*nt to him afterwards

But Taylor, perhaps through being American and not understanding British piss takey humour, seemed to take it really seriously! May he rest in peace.

I really dig Don't Stop, it could've been a La's song would it have been less polished and the strings are very Beatlesque
