Think of a Number. What a song, I keep going back to it. The lyrics are brutally authentic, unfiltered. It's the love child of Falling Down and While The Song Remains the Same, sparkled with hints of Disintegration.

Think of a number is indeed brilliant. You know, I really like the song Council Skies now, had it on repeat for a few weeks. Didn't like it at first but it's just a catchy, well produced tune, reminds me of What a life. The instrumental is cool too. Not going to change the music world but I really like it. Open The Door is starting to grow too now.

Noel thinks Council Skies is boss nova. P-)He'smusical point of view is too Eurocentric. I imagine he would like It to be bossa nova but it really lacks the bossa and the nova. It's not even champagne super bossa. If he really wants to be an artist and call his music "bossa nova" or spread his musical skills he should at least listen to Caetano Veloso, some tropicalia, etc. Cmon. I love noels music and his albums. But boy he does sound pretentious...

As I am currently on holidays in UK, now London, I did my bit to help Noel with the UK charts. Have to wait until I'm home to listen to it though. I could stream it, but that's no fun, as sadly I will be home soon anyway. Looking forward to it!

It seems ok after couple spins, but the Foo Fighters' record is so fucking good that I barely feel like listening to Council Skies at this point. And the new Queens stuff is on another level too. There, I said it. I had a listen to the Foo Fighters new album earlier and yes, it is good. Shame about the artwork though, it's crap.

Does anyone else hear U2's New Year's Day in Think Of A Number?

Unfortunately I haven't really had a chance to properly sit down and listen to this yet so I'm reserving judgement until I get a few spins in first.
I'm Not Giving Up Tonight is one of Noel's best songs though, absolutely love it.

Anyone else hear a teeny bit of SOTSOG in the production of this album?

The album version of Don't Stop is ok but it's certainly not one of the best songs on the album. I haven't listened to the remixes yet apart from The Cure one which was released not so long ago.

I've made myself a mini playlist of:
Pretty Boy remix Open the Door, See What You Find Trying to Find... Council Skies There She Blows! Think of a Number
The rest of the album I can take or leave (mostly leave, to be honest), but this is a really solid set of songs, with several different moods and a fair bit of stylistic variety. Both electric guitar and church bells! I'll probably just listen to this from now on.
For comparison, my NGHFB playlist has seven songs, the CY playlist has six songs (including two bonus tracks), and WBTM has four including a bonus track.

Nothing beats the haunting soundcheck version. They’ve shoe-horned too many instruments in the final version IMO.

Nothing beats the haunting soundcheck version. They’ve shoe-horned too many instruments in the final version IMO. The other week I was listening to the demo of 'Don't Stop...' and legit, the drum fills he ends up overdubbing here for the final mix are basically what I imagined the fill would be like. Did I expect it to be overdubs in the end? Yes and no. Yes, it's what you do when you can't take a song any further than it's creativity allows it to go. No, I was fully expecting a Chasing Yesterday butchering to happen to the song. I don't think that happened at all here gladly, and I am really okay with it in its final state.
