7 outta 10 album.
1. Chasing Yesterday (by a mile) 2. High Flying Birds (overproduced) 3. Council Skies (poorly mixed, some cringe vocals,a few gems)
4. Who Built the Moon (horrid)

Council Skies (solid) I had hoped for at least one or two stormers like TMWBTM or AKA ...thats what this new album massively lacks... the songs are well written but the even the punch of the CY isn't there for me sadly.

God, I love "Think of a number". Pleasantly surprised with the album as a whole. Was kinda worried beforehand.

Easy Now Japanese bonus track, acoustic. Sounds like the album version with just the acoustic guitar and strings, the rest removed.
What did we say about lazy ? Quite nice though, probably more than the album version.

The more I listen to Think of A Number the more I think it's a great closer Probably the emotional peak of the album with Dead to The World

So is LIAR officially the most divisive track? Plenty of differing opinions, but this one seems to have both the strongest supporters and the most fervent detractors.

Easy Now Japanese bonus track, acoustic. Sounds like the album version with just the acoustic guitar and strings, the rest removed. What did we say about lazy ? Quite nice though, probably more than the album version. That's pretty much what he did with Dying Of The Light and If I Had A Gun too. That being said, it's much more enjoyable to listen to than the album version.

The big song of the album is Easy now. Maybe also We’re gonna get there in the end. I mean big in the sense of concert singalong, people outside the fanbase liking it, etc. In fact I find quite strange that lots of the more hardcore fans are not getting this.

My only real complaint so far and it's a big fucking complaint is the way some songs are softer than others. Worst example, Think Of A Number which is the best song on the album goes so quiet I have to turn it up and then We're Gonna Get There In The End comes on and blasts my fucking ears off. What the fuck is up with that? Not happy about that.

The full length album version of Trying to Find A World That's Been and Gone is excellent and atmospheric. Remains my favorite song on the record. Think of A Number sounds like it is the companion/follow up piece for it too. Anyways, Trying to Find a World That's Been and Gone, Pt. 1We're Gonna Get There In The EndThink of A NumberDead To The WorldThere She Blows!Love Is A Rich ManOpen The Door, See What You FindI'm Not Giving Up TonightEasy NowPretty BoyCouncil Skies
The 'Keep the Customer Satisfied' style brass section added to WGGTITE is amazing. The precise, exact things were added to the track to make it sound brand new. 'Think of A Number' is his best solo song since, well While The Song Remains the Same, carlober 's description is appropriate. I'm not getting the hype for 'I'm Not Giving Up Tonight'. It reminded me of a song taken from the Joshua Tree, with Noel doing a Bono impression. It also drags for being a four minute song. Overall, it's a tough call for me. It's a very emotional and personal record, and don't know how Noel dodges questions on what it's really about in interviews (hint: It has nothing to do with reminiscing about Council estates). I'm assuming for legal reasons no one is allowed to ask. It's an overall mixed bag - half of this album is an atmospheric, blissful and melancholic requiem on a failed marriage, and the other half just feels like songs that were stitched together and shipped out to round out the album. Right now I have to put Who Built the Moon? over it, and it's neck and neck with Chasing Yesterday. High Flying Birds 1 is still the high bar in terms of hit after hit. He's slightly opened up in terms of how personal some of the tracks are (DTTW, Think of A Number) and when you read the lyrics it's pretty clear what personal means Mentioned the divorce in a couple of interviews as well, I think journos are just avoiding going deeper to be respectful/not piss him off The council estates theme still makes sense though, if you see it as a "looking back to understand where you've come from and find your roots again in a time where you don't know what's coming next"

Not to say there isn't anything significant of it on the record but outside of the Council Skies song itself, the majority of reflection done on the album has nothing to do with it.

The album overall has many layers and some great lyrics. It's clear Noel has found a touch of magic again, maybe helped by the musicians contributing. Waiting on the record being sent so I can properly listen more.
Mind Games is brilliant.
Quick shout out for "Don't Stop" too. The strings and backing vocals arrangement really lift this from the Demo we all already know.

I also like Smith and Holmes remixes - for me pretty boy is only ever the Smith version locked on.
