New Noel single. Shall we ask him anything about it? Who produced it? When’s the album out? What will it sound like? Any track names? Guest musicians? Nah let’s talk about football. Throwaway comment at the end there, but interesting to hear him say again he’d like Norman cook to do a remix for him. That man has done some amazing remixes. X Feel like I've seen the interview before??? Is it really new? So pointless, Dave Berry is an insufferable little man as well. Every british radio interview we get with Noel with a bloke on the other side asking questions he's always grilled on his current opinion on Pep Guardiola rather than his own music. Just give it a fucking rest.

Its becoming pretty clear noel has made What a Life his blueprint of a song now. Big difference is the former's melody is unmatched. The Mighty i, ITHOTM, Beautiful world, and now this cant come close. You could say the 'AKa WAL chorus is the best one in his solo

Random side note, but the Gallagher brothers have some of the shittest band merch going. I thought the Who The Fuck Is Liam Gallagher t-shirts were bad, but then I saw this... X

Man, people still dislike Holy Mountain huh? I've liked it since day 1. Fun fun fun and full of energy. Something that was lacking from oasis and Noel for a long long time.

Since I just woke up and missed all the theatrics, how did Noel announce the EP in June? Was it on a radio interview? I did not receive anything from NoelGallagher.com. Just Banquet Records. Weird. I would have asked him if there was a bigger album release come fall/winter. EPs are fun.......for awhile.

Don't understand the hate for this song? I like it, it's got the same graceful restraint that made It's a Beautiful World such a killer tune, even if it doesn't have that song's chorus's cathartic release. A nice, laid-back funky disco tune with a slick solo that is like the genuinely cool guy at the party. He doesn't show off because he doesn't need to. This didn't blow me away like Holy Mountain did, but then again, what could? Black Star Dancing isn't quite as good as Noel's best work, but it will probably go down in Gallagher history as the best non-album a-side since Whatever. It's a nice little track that would slot quite comfortably onto Noel's last album (which I always felt was a bit short). I agree with many here it's not really single material but if had just been released as a "regular" track on the last album without any of this "new single" fanfare it wouldn't be copping half this flak. It's a new Noel song to add to your collection. It's a fine piece of work - better than most of that autotuned garbage that gets released these days. Slot it into your playlist for his last album and just enjoy it whenever it rolls around. I really don't think it would have fit on WBTM, though. It's a standalone thing to go with the other two songs on the EP.

I quite like it. Okay, it's not the best track I've heard from him but I'm glad he's not playing it safe and try to write the same stuff over and over again. When he's releasing something new and the fans don't like it it reminds me of this Joe Strummer quote: “Think of Noel Gallagher. He's got all the pressures in the world on him. Oasis have a certain sound. I often feel for him because he can't really veer off and do something really weird. He feels for the Oasis fans and they like their Oasis the way it is. In a way he's more boxed in because of his massive sales. He knows that he can't veer off.”When noel wrote little by little, or if i had a gun, or everybody's on the run, or dead in the water, did the world groan because he 'played it safe' and 'wrote the same stuff over and over'? More like it was celebrated as new expression of the same fucking genius. reminds me of the sad song quote: "don't throw it all away"I'm sure he'll be back one day. Course he'll be back. But for now this is so bad I have listened once, and that is enough. 'back' - he's never left He's developed. He's different now than he was 10 or 20 years ago. It's called a career. I've got his/Oasis' back catalogue of songs and we always will have that. Change is good.

So so good! I loved it from first listen! Hopefully Noel keeps it up. I am so glad he has matured from the Oasis days in songwriting.

With each Noel release my suspicion that The Real People basically wrote much of the first three albums becomes stronger. If he is such a genius, why do each of his albums become weaker. The only one that flies in the face of that is the first half of DOYS. And Little by Little is nice, but cheesy - I love it but it’s fromage. People dig at the production of the later Oasis albums, but it’s about songs. And to me that is Noel’s bigger issue. Of coarse people will fight this all day long. But Noel had a magic moment. Now he is writing boring songs. Lyla TIOBI Go Let It Out Gas Panic! Roll It Over Let's All Make Believe Falling Down Bag It Up The Turning The Shock of the Lightning Aye, all crap

You could easily imagine The Turning being done in this style and it’s really working for me. I like it! Do something weird, Noel. I’ve always got those classic songs to go back to when I want to hear them - nothing left to prove or do on that front. This 100%

Don't think anyone is unhappy with the fact he's releasing music quicker. That's great. The song just isn't very good. I think we're supposed to be grateful Noel has given us a slightly different version of something he gave us 18 months ago and has followed it straight up by giving us a steaming turd. In your opinion it's turd. A lot of people like it. Rightly so imo. It's catchy as hell and something different to what he's done before.

Yeah, imagine not changing as a human being in 25+ years, right? I've changed over 25 years like we all have and if noel wants to go in this direction then that's up to him, it just seems to me like he's ignoring what it is that makes him loved so much and what got him started, but then what do I know Nothing 'got Noel started'. Oasis/Noel/Liam etc - they started it themselves. They don't owe anybody anything. (Apart from The Real People).

I see some of y'all are still the same.
Thankful that some of yall aren't artists. Jesus some of y'all really do think that the Beatles have made 7 out of the 10 greatest albums of all time? Open your eyes and ears folks, but more importantly subvert your expectations for what you demand from artists. They don't owe you shit. Life moves on, artists move on, you should grow too. It's actually kinda fun.
I get this isn't the Noel you fell in love with in 94 at King Tuts, but I'm happy he isn't that coke snorting drunkard anymore, he'd be dead. I'm so glad Noel is maturing as a songwriter and artist as he is nearing 51. He could be dead, he could stop releasing music, but instead over the past decade and change he has really had a second golden age as an artist. I'm not asking anyone to like it who doesn't, but I am asking for some of you to have some perspective on this.
Though he is my favorite songwriter of all-time, if you would have asked me 2006 (when I joined this forum) how I would have ranked Noel, Damon Albarn, and Thom Yorke in terms of critical, commercial, and cultural success. I woulda have ranked Noel last out of them, but in the 13 years since he has vaulted up to the top with consistent releases, while Thom's material is pretty forgettable and Damon needs to relearn the science of quality control.
The song didn't blow my socks off, but I love Noel and I'm thankful for new Noel whenever I get it, even more impressed that the dude seems to be having more fun and being more liberal with his influences within his music in his 50's than he did in his 20's. Never thought a conservative guy like Noel would go down this path its fucking awesome. Sorry some of y'all are too old or not tall enough for this rollercoaster.
Peace and love y'all. Good to read and see some old faces. You know who you are.

I think the 3 elements i enjoy the most are:
Bassline Solo The female singer parts
I think they elevate what is a simple piece of work overall and make it good.
It's good. It's fresh. Is it brilliant? Don't think so. But I am enjoying it for what it is.

It's not bad, I love the bass and Noel's more intimate vocals. Doesn't come close to most of the songs off WBTM, though.

Noel's been pretty vocal about his nostalgia for the Hacienda days for years now, and this feels like the culmination of that. I like it alright; don't love it. It'll be a fun EP, but I'm a little relieved we aren't getting an album of this. The guitar solo rocks, but as others have said, I keep waiting for the chorus or payoff to hit that next gear and it never quite does.

This is so far removed from the guy who wrote supersonic my big mouth etc it's as if noel wants to forget the oasis era of his career altogether and just give us this I can't decide whether I like this or not, my opinion on first listen is it's fuckin shite Or... it's just a very talented songwriter/musician developing/changing over the course of a 25-year career. Don't think Beatles fans from the 60s could foresee Paul McCartney writing something like Temporary Secretary later on either

Noel's going to have two types of albums out from now on.
This type of music (I like it. The over reaction to it is unreal!) which is a bit more 'experimental' And then the more traditional stuff which will be Sardy-esque.
I think he regrets not releasing the AA shit, and is now getting it out of his system.

Good luck with improving on Live Forever, Don't Look Back In Anger, Champagne Supernova, etc. True, those songs can't be beaten, but those specific songs were HUGE due to a lot of factors besides Noel's songwriting. - Liam's voice - The mood of the UK - The fact the Oasis sound was still NEW. Noel doesn't have those 3 factors anymore so even with improved songwriting, his new songs could never be as BIG as the old classics. Between Be Here Now and Chasing Yesterday, you can count many new highlight moments where Noel has been progressing his lyrics, his vocal delivery, his melodies and his live musical arrangements (especially acoustic sets). But since around 2014/2015 I can't see any meaningful progression or highlight in the The Man Who Built The Moon or this new single - with the exception of "Dead In The Water" "Liam's voice". Nonsense, Don't look back in anger is one of Oasis' biggest hits, and TIOBI was also a big hit for them
