I voted WBTM.I don't have any problem with AYW: a solid 7/10 for me. I listened to it constantly for weeks, and the only songs I skip were Paper Crown and FWIW (sorry but they sound to me like something that Robbie Williams could sing). Love Bold though, and WAG and CBTM are also very good. Those are the three that I keep listening to. For me it's not so different of DGSS, only more poppy, more based in the sound of WTSMG (btw, I have never understood the hate for DGSS, which I maintain to this day it's a solid album; and the idea that it was a commercial flop is ridiculous)
But I really LOVE WBTM. Every song provokes a direct emotion on me. Other people mentioned in the thread that they value more the "sound" than the melodies, and that if the sound is not right, they cannot get into the song even if the melodies are good. I can totally understand that, but my case is the exact opposite: strong melodies is what I value the most, and like variety in the sound.

Rating by numbers.....
1. Fort Knox vs. Wall of glass: 0:1 Wall of glass, the best Gallagher rocker since Lyla! Fort Knox, too long, too prententious and: The alarm clock! 2. Holy Mountain vs. Bold: 0:2 HM, I still don't get it! Might be a parka monkey, who knows? ObladiOblada is miles better! Bold: A instant classic! Maybe my favourite Liam penned song of this record! 3. Keep on reaching vs. Greedy Soul: 1:2 KOR is a great tune. The first time on the record I understand the "happy upbeat" thing. Greedy Soul aged a little for me. Still good energy though. 4. It's a beautiful world vs. Paper Crown: 1:3 I like IABW but Paper Crown gives me still shivers after two months! A hell of a tune and the best Liam vocals since who know when! 5. She taught me how to fly vs. For what's it worth: 1,5 : 3,5 Those two are not comparable for me. STMHTF uptempo, great melody, dance tune, FWIW the big Oasy Ballad that really lift the album. Deuce! 6. Be careful what you wish for vs. When I'm in need: 2,0 : 4,0 BCWYWF is interesting. It grows from a Come Together rip off to a tense atmospheric number. WIIN is the sweet love song a la Songbird that grow and grow. I love that Liam plays the guitar. Deuce! 7. Black and White Sunshine vs. You Better Run: 3 : 4 BAWS is the type of song I love from Noel! What a riff, what a chorus, great! YBR is a good rocker and great produced but BAWS is better. 8. Interlude vs. I get by: 3:4 You can't compare instrumentals to songs, sorry! 9.If Love is the Law vs. Chinatown: 4 : 4 ILITL gets me from the first listen. A song that really proves why I am a fan from NG. Great melody inventer! Chinatown is sweet, but I get a bit tired from it now, tbh! 10. The Man who built the moon vs. Come Back to me: 4,5 : 4,5 I didn't really understand the hype around TMWBTM. I think it's a better Freaky Teeth, wich is fine. Come back to me is a really strong rocker, deuce for me. 11. End credits vs. Universal Gleam: 4,5 : 4,5 You can't compare instrumentals to songs, sorry! 12. Dead in the water vs. I've all I need: 5 : 5 I love DITW! Such a great live version, so much feelings, such a genius! But I can't rate it over IAIN, because that is also such a great and honest song, one of Liams finest moments and DITW isn't on my vinyl, IAIN is!
End score: 5 : 5 It's great to be a Gallagher Fan. Two great Albums!

The dual review seems fun!
1. Fort Knox - Wall of Glass 0:1 2. Holy Mountain - Bold 1:1 3. Keep On Reaching - Greedy Soul 1:2 4. Beautiful World - Paper Crown 2:2 5. She Taught Me How To Fly - For What It's Worth 3:2 6. Be Careful - When I'm In Need 4:2 7. Black & White Sunshine - You Better Run 5:2 8. Interlude Part 1 - I Get By 5:3 9. If Love Is The Law - Chinatown 6:3 10. Man Who Built The Moon - Come Back to Me 7:3 11. End Credits - Universal Gleam 7:4 12. Dead in the Water - I've All I Need 8:4
Wall of Glass and Greedy Soul win the comparison to their WBTM counterparts for me, both Wednesday parts lose too. The rest goes to Noel. Comparing Black & White Sunshine to You Better Run is especially harsh.

One week after Noel's release and I'm perfectly content with keeping my vote for Who Built the Moon
It's richer. Deeper. Layered.
No real surprise. I do like Liam's album - far exceeded expectations - but you can't beat classic Noel.

Paper Crown/She Taught Me How to Fly
Greedy Soul/Holy Mountain
Chinatown/Keep on Reaching

I like both of the albums, though. The Bold and Paper Crown rounds were close, as well.

THE single greatest male interpreter of popular music, Frank Sinatra, has exactly one shared songwriting credit to his name.(before anyone has any visions of Joe Piscopo or Phil Hartman or a senior citizen Sinatra propped up on stage like a wax dummy, I'm referring to prime Sinatra from '53 to say '71, as Bono said, he was more rock n roll than anyone) Does that make him any less "authentic" in his interpretation of material? Ella Fitzgerald didn't write her own songs. Does that diminish her authenticity? No, she's brilliant. Bob Dylan was a great writer,I appreciate what he has and had to say but I'm not ponying up to listen to him. Not everyone can be Lennon/ Macca. And neither one of them was the same without the other, although they both approached previous heights on their own. Liam is a singer of songs, rock n roll songs and not too many do it better and that's why the album has been successful and accessible. Roger Daltrey has one shared credit with Pete and yet he's one of the great rock singers in history and the Who would not have been nearly what it was with another front man. So, for me the craftsman/ songwriter aspect if it doesn't hold water. Bold and Paper Crown, to name two tracks sound pretty authentic to me and conjure up feelings and emotion every time I listen to them. I love Noel and the vast majority of songs he's written and have nothing but respect and admiration for his talent and ability but without Liam singing many of those songs and being the front man for Oasis we wouldn't be having any of these discussions, Noel's recently admitted that himself. McDonald's indeed. Stop it. It's just Rock 'N' Roll. Paper Crown is a great song, i rated it the best song on AYW, but Liam did not write it. It could have been on a Robbie Williams album or a One direction album and you would probably have thought it was shit. I dont think anyone is denying Noel wouldn't have gone anywhere without Liam. It's pretty clear. No one is denying Liam's talent, but again you are missing the point. Singer + Songwriter will always be above just Singer. Noel is an artist. There's a big difference. Oasis was an artistic entity, composed of many talents. It's pretty different from picking songs here and there in a catalogue, from someone who is writing a fake apology. Then the singer is throwing that song into people's face saying... That's MY apology. WTF. Sinatra was no more than a good product from his era, they were writing cliché songs that were all sounding the same in the end to please his audience. Just like Elvis. Was it good ? Yes. Was it true, authentic ? No. It was like a beautiful shiny bag of nice toys with a beautiful logo on it. Just like Liam is about to become if he doesn't write all his songs in the future. A nice package of what people want Liam to be. If that's all you want, it's fine. I don't. I want the true Liam Gallagher. The one who has written good tunes like Born on a Different Cloud Soul Love, I'm Outta Time, Greedy Soul, Bold, Songbird... etc And Roger Daltrey is a vagina. He plays in shit tv shows FFS.

Then, with your argument i suppose you didn´t never fell Oasis like an authentic band...Noel Gallagher writing a song about love like "Slide Away", and then the singer is throwing that song into people´s face saying...That´s MY love song.WTF

I did it because it's fun and because I like both albums, which makes comparing them interesting exactly because they are so different. Of course people are now doing it to show how much more they like one album which is pointless imo. What makes you think that? Oasis' second biggest hit of all time had zero involvement from Liam. Granted, Oasis without Liam would have been nowhere near as brillant, but there's no way Noel wouldn't have made it with those songs. Liam without songs, on the other hand, impossible to say.

Has any of you ever thought that maybe Noel wrote the hits with Liams voice in mind? Maybe Liams style made him choose some melodies and chords. Cause he knew it would suit him better. Noel changed the songs when he sang them. This proves that he was aware of Liams ability to improve lines and melodies. Maybe Live forever would have been shit with Noels vocals on the album. He had a really flat and bland voice. In the 90's Liam was a natural singer. Noel had to learn how to sing. Maybe Noel would have had 2 or 3 obscure records that no one cared about. And maybe Liam would have been the lead singer of another great band. Noel was a shit singer in the early days and Liam was no songwriter. But Noel learned to sing better and better and Liam proved he can really write some beautiful songs. But it doesn't matter really. They're both good on their own. But the Oasis sound was created by Liam, Noel, Bonehead, Guigsy and Tony. All the other members that came later tried to emulate THAT sound. Noel wouldn't have been that succesfull without those 4. He should show some gratitude. And now he turns against his fans. Fucking bullshit, man. He's a typical rich guy now. No more edge to his personality. That made him great. He's running away from himself. Reforming Oasis would be the death of him, yeah. But i guess he likes when Oasis fans pay to see his new band and i bet he loves the royalties he gets from Oasis. He will always be fucking Oasis. He thinks he can "do better". Noel, you can lick MY balls for being an ungrateful dickhead.

Gone anywhere is a bit strong but i don't think he would have made it to anywhere near the same size, Liam made Noel's songs better, even songs like Some Might Say which is brilliant on its own but Liam made it great. That's goes for quite a few of them in my opinion.
