I really like the album!
I don't understand why they would go with Holy Mountain for the "face" of the album in the first place. It is a very weak track and the flute is awfully annoying, plus Noel dancing gave me a wrong impression... But anyways...
Every song there except for HM is gold. I love it even more for Noel's effort in making something different-ish. Not that different than any other of his collaborations and experimental work.
It is a 7/10, much lower than what I think it deserves, mainly because of HM and the interludes.

Just seen an interview with Noel where he does say:
"It's not really that far out... it's just different."
Sums it up well.
It's a very good album with some really excellent moments (The Man Who Built The Moon, She Taught Me How To Fly, A Beautiful World, Be Careful... etc)

Dead in the Water is with a huuuuge different the best song on the album. An studio version recorded by David Holmes or Dave Sardy or Owen Morris or Mark Stent or anybody would piss all over WBTMIt wouldn't at all though. It's fine as it is.

I had this album on repeat in work yesterday heres my thoughts. FK. Works well as an opener. Probably the one I would skip the most. The 'drop' at 45 secs doesn't sound quiet right and annoys me everytime HM. I think its catchy. Love the layers of instruments, I don't think its Noels best but I don't understand the negativity KOR. Sounds like it would fit on the Ghostbusters 2 LP I had as a kid. Awesome except for the 'Can you keep a secret' lines. Thats nearly as cheesy as 'Kid on crack' IABW. Awesome. Right up there with my favourites by Noel STMHTF. The drums on this song deserve a mention they are fantastic. The song is repeative but works. The 'Put your money where you mouth is line' is great BCFWYWF. Great but the intro is too close to 'Come together' for me. It annoys me when Noel lines himself up as being labelled as a Beatles tribute like this. Apart from that the song is a nice album track BAWS. Cool as hell. Only negative point is I wish I could hear more of Noels vocals IP1. Nice but don't see why we need to get 2 of these. ILITL. I can't get this one out of my head. Cheesy poppy seasonal awesomeness. As with BAWS I wish I could hear more of Noels vocals TMWBTM. Awesome. Wasn't expecting this song. As good as BOTMI. Wish it was a few minutes longer with an epic ending to finish the album. The first verse reminds me of something. Think its from the TV rather than another song. I can't think what the hell it is though. DITW. I love Noels acoustic stuff but his vocals annoy me on this one....it feels unfinished. It may grow on me. Overall I like the album as a journey but feel like we should have 2 more songs on it... freaky teeth style would fit nicely. It just feels too short TMWBTM, ILITL and IABW are the best tracks by far. Noels vocal are hidden in the mix of quiet a few songs and I've found myself humming tunes rather than singing choruses to myself like I normally with Noels songs. The first verse of TMWBTM is really annoying me it reminds me of something but not sure what. Nice post. In terms of the vocals and not being able to make them out, I found that the digital version was a lot cleaner than the vinyl rip - especially on Keep On Reaching and Black And White Sunshine.

Have to say I like this album more then I expected I would after hearing the first tracks that were being released! Fort Knox: Great instrumental opener. Holy Mountain: Still not liking it very much. One of the weakest on the record for me. Keep on Reaching: Not many people seem to like it but I love this one. It's a soul track, love the brass & the female vocals on it. Noel's voice sounds great as well. It's a Beautiful World: One of the best tracks on the album. Love the dreamy chorus with the under water effects. Bit of a brother to BOTMI. She Taught Me How To Fly: Bit too repetitive for me. Do like the production on it though. Be Careful What You Wish For: Not my favourite track but I can enjoy it. It grooves & I like the backing vocals. Black And White Sunshine: Catchy tune this one. I understand the REM comparison, and that's not a bad thing to me. Interlude: Sounds alright, not really necessary for me to be on the record. If Love Is The Law: Loving this one. Catchy pop tune. The Man Who Built The Moon: Standout track. Love the 'big' sound on this one. Has a great chorus. Dead In The Water: What a beautiful acoustic track this one! The piano adds something nice to it. Noel's voice sounds pretty emotional on it. All in all a very good record. 7 out of 11 tracks that I like a lot. Don't understand why they pushed Holy Mountain & STMHTF though. They're certainly the two catchiest on the record though. I really like Holy Mountain and though I was a bit disappointed with the live version of STMHTF, I think the recorded version is brilliant, and it'll definitely get a lot of air time when it's inevitably released as a single.

Yeah STMHTF is definitely the one who has the most single potential. It's probably gonna be the third song with a video.

Yeah STMHTF is definitely the one who has the most single potential. It's probably gonna be the third song with a video. Almost certainly. I reckon the IABW vid will be out Friday alongside the album and the Apple Music doc. STMHTF has to be a single, and I reckon it'll be early next year. After that it's up in the air. 'Keep On Reaching', 'Black & White Sunshine' or 'If Love Is The Law' could potentially make surprise singles, but 'The Man Who Built The Moon' would be a fantastic final single - assuming he does four. There's no real need, to, though. Three should be enough. STMHTF is made for radio.

Keep On Reaching is definitely a great single choice. It will get so many new ears. Love the casino vibe of the song

Why Noel's voice on Black & White Sunshine is so annoying? Honestly, it's ruining the song.

Keep On Reaching is definitely a great single choice. It will get so many new ears. Love the casino vibe of the song Yeh, I love TMWBTM but as a single it probably wouldn't work. I reckon STMHTF is the banker third single. It's already had publicity and it would smash it on the radio - it's so joyous and simple and catchy. Keep On Reaching, as you say, is pretty different for Noel - but it's short and sweet and is catchy and upbeat, so would work as a final single. Do feel this album is maybe just missing one 'mega' tune though. The one-two of It's A Beautiful World and STMHTF certainly acts as the centre-piece of the album, but I feel there's just one more missing in the back half.

TMWBTM and BCWYWF are my favourites but honestly the only positive thing about getting those tracks as singles is having a promotional videoclip for them. So I would go with STMHTF even though I think its too repetitive or KOR. Maybe ILITL. Having so many poppy and joyful tracks in the record and choosing Holy Mountain as the lead single is still a mystery to me.

The production is different which makes it interesting at first, but the songs just aren't there over all. "Different" in this case doesn't equal quality as much as novelty. I anticipate that this record will continue to divide fans for years to come, but ultimately become only part of Noel's career rather than a high point.

Once the novelty wears off it and people fancy listening to some Noel/Oasis related music, i don't think an awful lot of people will be reaching for this album. It's really lacking in quality songs and songs are what ultimately stand the test of time regardless of production.

1. Fort Knox 7/10.
Is it good? Yes. But for me if you are going to start a album with a instrumental then that instrumental has got to be great. I do enjoy it though and like the ringing bell sound. Reminds me of something from one of the Bourne Films.
2. Holy Mountain 8.5/10
I understand this is not everyone's cup of tea, but I really like it. Especially the breakdown into the fiddle solo. Such a catchy energetic tune that fits perfectly after the ending of Fort Knox.
3. Keep on Reaching 7/10
Again it is a nice songs that is growing on me more and more each listen, has the potential to maybe be last single.
4. It's A Beautiful World 7.5/10
At first I wasn't too impressed with this. The chorus still isn't doing much for me, but I do love the guitar riff in this and the versus are impressive as is the French part. Does sound similar to U2/Coldplay as well.
5. She Taught Me How To Fly 8/10
Really like this, reminds me of Blondie, and is really catchy especially when Noel sings 'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is'part. Again it could be last potential single.
6. Be Careful What You Wish For 5/10
Not really digging this. Doesn't really go anywhere or do anything for and goes on too long.
7. Black and White Sunshine 7/10
Following what Noel said about this song I was expecting so much more. Yes it's ok, but for me it is just Noel by numbers and I think I am being generous in giving it a 7/10.
8. Interlude (Wednesday Part 1) No rating
Not giving this a rating as I don't really class it as a song on the album. It does give the album a bit of a atmospheric feel and sounds like Pink Floyd, would have preferred just a normal song tho.
9. Love Is The Law - 8.5/10
Loving this. Think this should be the next single especially coming up to Xmas as it does have a Xmas feel to it. It is the most joyful song on the album
10. The Man Who Built The Moon 9/10
Best song on the album. Loving every part of it.... the moodiness, the lyrics, the chorus. It has a Russian choir element to it for me. Could certainly soundtrack a James Bond film. Should be 3rd single
11. End Credits - Not rating
See track 8.
Overall Rating 7.5/10
This album has some really good songs on it, but also too many average ones. Don't feel the need to have 3 instrumentals. I loved Chasing Yesterday but after so many listens I questioned whether Noel could do a classic album with him singing all of the songs and again I am feeling the same here. I often sit thinking what Liam would have sounded like if he had sang on a track and think that if Noel had made the last 2 albums with Liam singing the majority of the tracks then we would be sat here talking about 2 modern day classics.

Obviously in a perfect world ALL of us would love every second of every track on WBTM but it is never going to be the case. I personally really like it, it sounds fresh and different enough to really cheer me up. Critics seem to like it too thus far. I think Noel summed it up (and I agree) when he said "It's just a record" if you don't like move on or go back to the stuff you do like (or another band), there will be another record soon enough. For me AYW is nice but it's been done to death and I am already bored of it. Each to there own and all that but if nothing else this album can be visited if you fancy a bit of a change, some basslines, a bit of pace and some grooves etc.... Options are good in my opinion.

Which is fine for me as I like DOYS - in the sense that when I listen to it, I'll listen to it all the way through. As You Were, for me, is an example of an album I'll go back to to pick out individual songs depending on what I'm in the mood for. WBTM? is an album that I'll put on with the intention of listening to all of it. I'm perfectly happy with both approaches.

I was really pessimistic about the album, but it's growing on me amazingly!!
Tbh, I'm still thinking that the philosophy behind the album was wrong. I can't imagine what kind of masterpiece was WBTM? If Noel put special attention in the lyrics...

Another thing...
It's so loud.
Definitely got a wall of sound vibe going on.
STMTF I think has to be my favourite. Closely followed by IABW.
TMWBTHM third, and Keep On Reaching has really grown on me as well.

Definitely got a real 'The Turning' vibe in those instrumentals as well, while 'Be Careful...' sounds a bit like 'High Horse Lady' in a good way as well.

BCWYWF is kind of a bummer in the middle of the album. I like the groove and the woman singing is a nice touch, though by the end of the song she gets kind of annoying. The song just plods, I think this is the Mexican of the album for me. It fell quite short of being another The Right Stuff.
I find once this one ends, the album absolutely soars.

The one-two of IABW and STMHTF is the one I keep going back to.
In fact, the first 5 songs are all top notch imo. The tempo is great.
BCWYWF slows it down just enough, though I do prefer the live version.
