I'm SO sorry but I don't think it's a great album. I like a few songs... I find it overproduced and uninspired. His voice is so bland on this work. CY was miles better.

I didnt like Chasing Yesterday much web it was released, but now I do it. I do like WBTHM, However I shouldn't have listened to Dead In The Water and God Help Us All with the rest of the tracks, it feels foreced after such album. But well they are only bonus tracks.

Having a first listen now.
Liked Keep On Reaching - think it'll be great live. STMHTF - which I'm just on now - sounds a lot better on record!

After listening to the album, I can't help to think something I've thought about Noel and Oasis for years: that they must have really poor advisors and end up doing exactly the opposite of what they should've done to be more successful or have a better creative output. This evaluation is clearly subjective but I'm going to explain what I mean. "Dead in the water" is the strongest song but instead of being properly produced, we just got a live take, not even a demo. It has an emotional chorus and great lyrics. Great structure that feels cohesive and complete. Under this lens, the second best song in the album is "Black & White Sunshine". Again, feels like a complete song, with meaningful transitions and a structure that makes sense as a whole. "Be Careful What You Wish For" is super groovy and is begging for a transition. Instead Noel decided to add female vocals that just say "ah" without a clear melody attached to it. I'm not suggesting it should have a "DLBIA" equivalent chorus. But monotony isn't the alternative. "It's A Beautiful World", "She Taught Me How To Fly", "Keep on Reaching" and "The Man Who Built The Moon" (which btw has a "Soldier On" vibe) are good songs. It seems people are most excited about the latter and I can agree with that. However, all of these have the same sort of "A-A-B" structure and are missing a "C". They are just a big tease for something that never arrives. I wonder if this is on purpose. "Fort Knox" is good but could be shorter. Or at least give me something more radical, like a cool solo -- synth, guitar or otherwise. "Holy Mountain" is "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" meets "She Bangs". Yeah. No bueno. "If Love is The Law" is decent. Maybe one of the most cohesive in the album. The 2 "Wednesday instrumentals" are fine, but I feel the same as with "Swamp Song" -- tricked that they get to call these as 2 individual tracks when they really aren't actual songs and they just make the track count higher. I liked the album. Cause I love Noel. His voice and his style. But I'm left wanting more because the whole experience feels like unfinished work that could've used a bit more thinking. Let's be honest. It's a 3/5. I moved your post here. There are at least four active threads about the album, your opinion doesn't need a thread on its own. Especially since it's wrong

Okay, I was wrong.
Be Careful What You Wish For is just as great on record as it is live

To be honest I don't really like it. To say it's only really 9 songs (8 with lyrics), it's not great. The only songs I actually enjoy (just counting the album) are The Man Who Built the Moon and It's a Beautiful World. I do like the Wednesday interludes, but to be honest they just seem like unrealised filler that could've been so much more.
In regards to the bonus tracks, Dead In The Water is a good song, but just feels like Noel by the numbers, which is probably why it wasn't in contention for a proper recording. God Help Us All used to really excite me back when it originated in LDSMD, but this version doesn't really do much for me.
Overall I'm disappointed, and I never thought I'd say that about any Noel/Liam release. Not one song on this whole release conjures up half the emotions I felt when I listened to a song like Riverman

Very impressed.
The Man Who Built The Moon is massive.
BTW, the two interludes - they're nicked from here:
(from around 10 seconds in)
Noel is a big fan of that Rev & The Makers album. No surprise he nicked a tune

Highlights for me:
- Be Careful What You Wish For - The Man Who Built The Moon - She Taught Me How To Fly (surprisingly)
Lows
- If Love Is The Law (just didn't really grab me at all)

It’s not as soulful or emotionally open musically as you might expect from a Noel project. Its poppier moments steer too much in to pop for me; If Love Is The Law could easily be a Mark Owen written Take That song. It succeeds best in its darker moments. It’s a good album, not great, certainly not a work of brilliance and definitely not as good as Noel seems to think it is.

Some really great moments, but there are atleast 3 tunes I would consider subpar for Noel and when you factor in the 2 interludes aswell that's 5 tunes which will not get much replay from me.
She Taught Me How To Fly, It's A Beautiful a World and Dead in the Water are truly great records though.
3/5

Fort Knox - Start makes me think of a poor man's Guns, the second half is Noel telling me to get myself together, while this may be accurate advice it didn't do much for me musically
Holy Mountain - Actually really like the tune, but the lyrics make it pretty much unlistenable, I'll wait for one of you wizards to remove the vocal
Keep on Reaching - I like it, nice tune
It's a Beautiful World - Tunes alright, if a little dull, but why does Noel sound like he's forgotten to put his false teeth in?
She Taught Me How to Fly - This one's okay but a bit dull
Be Careful What You Wish For - Enjoyed it, I also enjoyed it when The Beatles wrote it, its Come Together meets What a Life.
Black & White Sunshine - Tune
If Love Is the Law - Alright, reminds me of something, can't remember what
The Man Who Built the Moon - Mega, could have fit very well on DOYS imo
Dead in the Water - Mega, I wish every song had been like this, this is why I love Noel, songs like this, to the guy who said "If I wanted old Noel I'd listen to an old record", Andy something, you just don't get it.
God Help Us All - Tune

If Love Is The Law IS 100% the most 'different' song Noel has EVER done. Doesn't mean it's good though...in fact I actually feel embarrassed for him, listening to that song. The record on the whole...it sounds like something Noel needed to get out of his system. I was all for him doing a more interesting album and it's fair enough he's gone and done it. But I REALLY wanted it to end up a LOT better than this. Half of it is, well, half-baked IMO. It's not wonder Holy Mountain was the single cause it's the only thing on there with real immediacy...despite the fact it's cheesy as hell and the worst single ever for any Gallagher project. Hmmm I need more time with some of these songs I think.

I suppose the only real 'underwhelming' thing about it is that it's not as 'out there' as I thought it might be.
It's definitely different, and the approach was different, but do think there was potential to go further than he did.
Some songs do feel like they have something missing, but the biggest compliment I can give is that none of them (not including the bonus tracks) sound like something he'd have done in Oasis, and that shows he's pushed his limits.

Fort Knox - a great opener. Set the tone brilliantly.
Holy Mountain - I really like it. It grew on me quickly and it's probably one of my favourite tracks of the NGHFB era.
Keep On Reaching - It's great. Rocky, with a bit of soul thrown into the mix. Nice filler track and sure it'll be good live.
It's A Beautiful World - I wish we'd have been given another one in this style. As it is, it's kind of seems 'standalone' on the album.
She Taught Me How To Fly - Just a great pop song, with a stonking New Order bassline thrown in for good measure. Simple but effective.
Be Careful What You Wish For - I love it. It blew me away last night when I heard it live. Nothing like Noel has done before. Sounds like Dr John's take on Come Together. The backing vocals are immense. Should be longer.
Black And White Sunshine - Wasn't massively taken with it when i heard it live yesterday but for what it is it's another upbeat groovy rocker type. Decent.
Interlude 1 - Chilled out. Noel's stolen it, but it's fine for what it is.
If Love Is The Law - Having heard really good reviews of this one, somewhat disappointed at first listen. I'll go back to it. Sure it'll be good live but it didn't grab me.
The Man Who Built The Moon - Incredibly done. So atmospheric, left me wanting more.
End Credits - Aye, just same as the interlude.
That's my take on the album proper. Ultimately, it left me wanting more, which as I said earlier, I think means that it's a good album.
AYW is a good album, but by the time All I Need came round, I was ready to be done with it and start picking it apart. With this one, I just wanted it to go on for another song or two.
BONUS TRACKS:
Dead In The Water - A classic Noel ballad. Hope he sticks to his word and never does a studio version (I'm sure he won't do, he's far too lazy to re-record it). Tender, beautiful tune, but we all know Noel can do that in his sleep.
God Help Us All - I really, really like this version. Think it's a great tune.

I'll always give Noel Gallagher a chance - the guy wrote the vast majority of the soundtrack to my life. I have said before his first two solo albums do nothing for me. That's the way it goes sometimes. From that starting point I wasn't expecting much from this record, and it's just as well.
I like Black & White Sunshine. The Man Who Built the Moon is OK. The rest is mediocre - miles away from what Noel is capable of.
I think he is having some sort of midlife thing, and to be honest it comes across in his interviews that he's not that enthusiastic about this album. I hope he gets whatever it is out of his system and gets back to doing what he does best.

I couldn't disagree more. A lot of people thought DGSS was great when it first leaked though, when it's mostly garbage and the same for many other albums. It's not bad at all but once the novelty wears off, i think a lot of people will start to see it's really not that good either. It's cool though, being over-excited is the best way to enjoy music. Not me i was meh for DGSS from the start.
