Agreed, CY is a compilation of leftover rushed released to save the AA fiasco. It feels very weird from one track to another. Of course you agree with me Andy, I’m always right. X Nah, you are wrong, I'm always right You are all mad Chasing Yesterday is easily his best album 😃 I know a few people on here know about it, but i'm a die hard Noel fan, and this is his worst record. That doesn't mean it's bad, just that it doest not feel right as a record. Back then, during the facebook live when he introduced the record, i thought something was odd with how he talked about the record. Like he wasn't feeling it. And it shows. Maybe he should have split it into 3 EPs

There are some gorgeous songs on CY but I agree about it sounding more like a compilation than a full-fledged album...

Yep, still the best post-Oasis Gallagher release. Cohesive, colourful, energetic. Fantastic record. 1. Who Built the Moon? 2. As You Were 3. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds 4. Chasing Yesterday 5. Why Me? Why Not. 6. BE 7. Different Gear, Still Speeding I told you I love ranking things! It's mad that we've now got as many non-Oasis Gallagher albums as we have Oasis ones.

Huh that’s an interesting proposition. I’d say something more like 1. Chasing Yesterday 2. Who Built the Moon 3. NGHFB 4. Different Gear, Still Speeding 5. As You Were 6. Why Me, Why Not 7. BE.

There are some gorgeous songs on CY but I agree about it sounding more like a compilation than a full-fledged album... I Will disagree a bit here. Actually CY is more cohesive sonically than WBTM, but that's not necessarily a good thing. I prefer WBTM precisely because it's much more varied. And I prefer CY over NGHFB for the same reason: because it's more varied. NGHFB is almost a conceptual album thematically, and sonically it is also very homogeneous, but that does not make it a better album. All three albums have some very strong songs though

I like the feel of the album but it needs more songs on it.

The way I rank it, there’s three tiers. There’s nothing perfect here but the top tier is excellent, middle tier is middling to mediocre and the bottom tier is just not worth the effort.
1) Who Built The Moon (easily the front runner - a fantastic colourful album) 2) As You Were (a great comeback, but based on longevity - WMWN might replace it) 3) Why Me Why Not (As impressive on first listen as AYW - time will tell whether I like it more than the first one)
4) Chasing Yesterday (on account of Riverman, Ballad Of Mighty I, Right Stuff, Dying Of Light.... but Lock All The Doors is pure dad rock and Girl With X Ray Eyes is one of the most appalling songs he’s ever written). 5) Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds (some crackers here - Everybody’s On The Run, Death Of You & Me and Broken Arrow standout..... but how many midtempo plodders do we need? Individually, nothing is terrible but its lack of variety means it’s a tedious and boring listen).
6) BE (Flick Of The Finger is fab and Soul Love is excelllent, but it’s mostly Liam’s magic isn’t it? The other two dadrock imposters aren’t worth thinking about) 7) Different Gear Still Speeding (Morning Son is good.... aside from that, just utter fucking shit)

Chasing Yesterday is very enjoyable. I’m glad he made it. It’s a much better record than HFB. To my ears anyways. Chasing Yesterday is also an album I’m glad is out of his system. Time to move on to other music genres and production. Which he has been doing Since 2017. Keep going Noel. Keep pushing. Don’t return.

To people who dont really enjoy HFB1, you've not heard this record properly until you've heard it driving at 5 am on a an endless road in Arizona, in the desert, when the sun rises in front of you. That's how it was meant to be listened really. It's fuckin majestic that way.

Let's try this: 1. Who Built the Moon 8/10 - great album, amazing songs, great sound, has aged very well so far. 2. NFHFB 7.5/10 - the production is lacking at some points, but the better songs on there are just that good. 3. Chasing Yesterday 7.5/10 - liked that one way more than the first for a while, but haven't gone back to it too much recently. Still some god tier songs on it though. 4. As You Were 7/10 - No real stinkers, but the top tier songs don't quite reach the level of Noel's songwriting when he gets it just right. 5. BE 6.5/10 - at least the standouts (Flick of the Finger, Off at the Next Exit) are still very enjoyable. 6. DGSS 6/10 - mostly enjoyable through sheer nostalgia. FLW is great.
Haven't listened to Why Me Why Not enough to rate it, and these things take time anyway. Most albums get rated very highly at the beginning on here before the hype settles.

The funny part about this is that song isn't even on the album; it's a bonus track. They dropped the ball on the track list by leaving Don't Brother Me (bleh) and Shine a Light (bite me) on the album, as well as Ballroom Figured (meh), over Off at the Next Exit, Back at the Break, and Evil Eye, which were all superior to those other three.

Shit you're right! Those three are all really good songs and still sound good today. Evil Eye has the distinction of being the second best rock/pop song called Evil Eye released in 2013.
