Keep On Reaching sounds like a Beady Eye idea that Noel has gone away with and put the necessary effort into to make it decent. Its still mediocre by Noels standard though I think. The 'can you keep a secret' bit grates on me. I hate that bit. Love the horns though.

To whom is he asking to keep this secret?? It comes across as incredibly creepy and awkward.

Keep On Reaching sounds like a song that should have been in "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels".
I dig.

Still stick to that chasing yesterday is his best album ,this album is steady with some good tracks but it seems like it’s forced and there’s no real tunes in there..Fort Knox should’ve set the standard and it’s not far out at all and I’m not sure noel thinks it’s that great hence lack of support hiding behind the I don’t care how well it does etc

Agreed on Black & White Sunshine being the worst track.

havent listened to it for a couple of weeks (or months?) maybe it's the new mademoiselle. ((or not))
never cared for Love Is The Law but the live version from youtube is nice. dont really wanna go back to BW Sunshine, Be Careful and Keep On Reaching..
Fort Knox The Man Who Built The Moon and Dead In The Water are up there the singles are pretty good. but the lyrics... I dont care for. except the bit "but she smells like 1969" which I think is NG at its best when he's just a bit more.. evasive?

Well, gonna write my thoughts 5 months after the album came out.
FK: It's a good start. WBTM is an album that I listen from start to end so I never skip it whenever I listen to this song. It's an album that its made to be listened from start to end. That's why its got intro, interludes and an ending. As a song,well...nothing that I would listen every day but as a start I dig it. Specially the gotta get yourself together bit.
HM: Hated it with passion when it came out. Not as much as I did with ITHOTM tbf. Catchy, energetic single. It's alright. And of course, the lead single gotta be the second track on the album as usual.
KOR: Fucking love it. Casino vibe. I wish the drums sounded more clear. The entire album is a bit of a mess in production terms. Too many noises in the back. I know its on purpouse but I would love to feel more of a groove rather than weird noises in every song. Still,I love this one. And live is even better.
IABW: I got trouble with this one. Part of me loves the bass and syncopated drums, and the melody on the second verse is perfect. But the other part of me thinks that its a mess. But again, not a problem of the songwriting. Its the production. The chorus got me wondering what the fuck was happening. Why left the voice in the back and focus on the noises? Why the bridge is such a beautiful world live but in the record is nothing special? And WHY THE FUCK did Holmes and Noel thought that a French interlude would be a good idea? Its completely unnecesary. Seriously. I will never understand why did they ruin a song full of posibilities. I mean,I like it but it could have been sooooo much better.
STMHTF: Okay, this one is another one that I thought it was boring as fuck when I first listened to it. Repetitive. Yes. Addictive? Fucking hell yes. Can't keep myself still whenever I listen to this. You just avoid dancing. Love it. Love it. Love it.
BCWYWF: Will never get the hate on this one. The only song where the drums sound clear. The only song that I loved with passion since first listen along TMWBTM. It gets better and better. Its the child that popped out from Come Together and Riders On The Storm. I was hoping that the entire album would sound like this when it was announced. Noel said that he's writing songs on the bass guitar so them all got a groove. Please Noel. PLEASE. If you're gonna go psychodelic and stuff follow this path. I will adore it.
B&WS: Average. Love the title. Like the lyrics. But gotta admit that its a bit boring. I adore the little synth that sounds in the background in the chorus but again, its drowned in the mix so you gotta pay attention to hear it. Some may love those little details. But I feel that is a missed oportunity. I mean,if you can make a song better adding new sounds or little melodies that makes it a bit more interesting, why left them in the back?
Interlude: Put it after STMHTF and it will be perfect.
ILITL: Again, didn't click with me at first listens. But I learned to love. There's a synth that reminds me of WTSRTS. Even the intro. Sounds great. A bit too much christmas but the harmonica gives it another perspective. The most 'colourful' song in the record. What can I say? I learned to love it.
TMWBTM: Loved it from first listen. It's the type of song that I want to hear from Noel. But for some reason never go back to this one. I mean,I'm not tired of it. Because I never go back to listen to it. Only listen it when I listen to the entire album. It's a perfect ending to be honest. But that's all I guess,an ending. It doesn't help the fact that it's the only song from the album that he hasn't played yet. Come on Noel, even Fort Knox got played. A fucking instrumental.
End Credits: Fits incredibly good. I still feel like the lights turn on,and you gotta stand up and leave the cinema.
DITW: One of his bests. Beautiful. Well done not recording it again. It would've been a crime.
So...it's an album that I find myself returning. Not tired of it. Maybe I miss one or two more songs. And definitely I don't share some production choices. But it's a good album that it needs to be listened from start to end. And it's an album that honestly Noel needed to do. He's having fun with his own music and he's doing whatever the fuck he wants. And I respect him for doing that. Not his best record, but it's not the worst. Is not an average album. It's a little step that he needed to take. And I really like it.

FK: I suppose it's interesting he has made something different but it's not to my taste, no hook and kind of annoying.3/10 HM: Pretty good but a bit gross for some reason. 6/10 KOR: Really like the riff and the verses. The chorus is sort of just Noel shouting though.6.5/10 BW: Really like it, cool vibe, nice instrumentation. 8/10 STMHTF: Really like this one too. Noel's voice so of works as an instrument-kind of hypnotic in it's repeitvness and then the chorus breaks you out. Terrible lyrics. 7.5/10 BCWYWF: A bit dull but it has a good grove and the female vocals give it extra colour. 6.5/10 BAWS: A real grower for me. 7/10 Interlude: Nice enough, adds to the 'feel' of the album. ILITL: Great song but it doesn't quite live up to the melodic verses. A lot of the choruses on this album are weaker then the verses. Singing louder doesn't equate a good chorus. 7.5 TMWBTM: Epic song-western space vibe going on. Pretty hip!!!!! 8/10 Interlude 2: See interlude 1 DITW: A truly special song, I can't think of a song I like more that he has made since the WTSMG era.Noel at his very best 10/10. Just wish it was on the album for real(Vinyl record version).

I gave it another listen yesterday.
I'm still skipping KOR and BCWYWF, but they are far from terrible songs. I still think the interludes are a total waste of time. Other than that I love everything about it.
Rock solid 8/10 overall.

Still listen to it at least once a week on my way home from work. Same with "As You Were". Both are aging well with me.

Still think it's by far the weakest selection of songs Noel's released in quite a long time. His other solo albums have much greater heights. I don't find the songs "out-there" just underdeveloped. The songs are serving the production, not the other way around. Looking through it there's almost no song I would ever want to listen to again, beside Dead in The Water and maybe MWBTM...

Yeh apart from Fort Knox, Holy Mountain and TMWBTM, I've hardly listened to anything off either album since the end of Feb/start of March. Been digging other stuff lately but extremely excited for Noel on May 4th.

Was listening the TMWBTM on YouTube earlier and seen some comments about it being a rip off from another song. Hadn't heard of it myself, can hear some similarities though.

Things I would have done differently for MOON...............
- Remove alarm clock bell or shorten it down to about 10-12 seconds.
- Remove Charlotte’s spoken word from Beautiful World. It’s getting old for me and wont age well. Really dig the tune but wish Holmes came up with something instrumental for that middle part. Shit that’s his calling card. Guy does cool stuff. Plus what is noel supposed to do down the line on future tours when Charlotte isn’t in the band?
- Combine the two instrumentals into one track, place it in the middle of the album to split it up.
- Add the song Holmes love the most during the sessions but Noel felt it needed additional work. MOON is a little skimpy with full one tracks. I’d be willing to roll the dice on including it. I trust Holmes.
- I’d also remove Dead In The Water. It’s totally not needed and come off like Noel needed this as his saving grace if the album didn’t succeed in the charts or reviews. He should have made it a future one off single. Studio version on one side, live version as the b side. I’m also not in love with the live version selected. Sounds like Noel is far from the mic and singing in the bathroom.
