^ I usually skip the rest of Beautiful World once it reaches the spoken bit. Like someone said a couple weeks back. There is an instrumental version of Beautiful World without Charlotte from the vinyl release. I guess we gotta wait until a forum member splices the two versions together to get...........Beautiful World (No Charlotte Mix).

Things I would have done differently for MOON............... - Remove alarm clock bell or shorten it down to about 10-12 seconds. - Remove Charlotte’s spoken word from Beautiful World. It’s getting old for me and wont age well. Really dig the tune but wish Holmes came up with something instrumental for that middle part. Shit that’s his calling card. Guy does cool stuff. Plus what is noel supposed to do down the line on future tours when Charlotte isn’t in the band? - Combine the two instrumentals into one track, place it in the middle of the album to split it up. - Add the song Holmes love the most during the sessions but Noel felt it needed additional work. MOON is a little skimpy with full one tracks. I’d be willing to roll the dice on including it. I trust Holmes. - I’d also remove Dead In The Water. It’s totally not needed and come off like Noel needed this as his saving grace if the album didn’t succeed in the charts or reviews. He should have made it a future one off single. Studio version on one side, live version as the b side. I’m also not in love with the live version selected. Sounds like Noel is far from the mic and singing in the bathroom. Agree - Dead in the Water is a great song, but the album version is not great. Too much reverb on the voice, as you mentioned. I'm sure the idea was the whole "Talk Tonight" feel. A full blown studio version would've been awesome!

Love all the internal rhyming in If Love is the Law's verses. Noel doesn't tend to write them, does he? He tends to just write couplets.
I tend to put the blame for Noel's lyrical mishaps over the years on his laziness, so it's nice to hear on that song that he obviously put a bit more thought into his words.

The album is undoubtedly his best solo one by some considerable distance. Everything prior seems so stale, tame and stodgy in comparison, including Oasis latter output. This sounds proper invigorating.
Exactly the same situation with Liam. His solo effort is excellent and far superior to latter Oasis output and that other band he played in afterwards that were fit for a cruise liner.

A big problem with WBTM is the compression on the songs. Up to a few weeks ago, I had just listened to it using laptop speakers but finally bought the L.P. of it and it sounds pretty bloody bad. You can hear it on mp3's but I thought I would hear more clarity on vinyl. Good songs though.

Still find it the worst Gallagher related release . The songs just aren’t there , it’s all about the production. The tour is rubbish as well , setlist is terrible . Never thought I would just be wishing this whole WBTM period away

I skip more songs on WBTM than I do with AYW, but I prefer WBTM more.
There's more substance to Noel's songs (as expected).
Holy Mountain, Beautiful World, She Taught Me How To Fly, Black and White Sunshine, The Man Who Built the Moon, and Dead in the Water are all brilliant. The others I either skip or listen to occasionally.
And, many months later, I still maintain that WBTM is unfinished - needs one or two tracks in the second half.

I know David Holmes had his stupid "you must write everything for this album in the studio" rule for Noel, but why the fuck isn't Come On Outside here? Perfect album for that tune to sit amongst.
The mind boggles.

I just hope Noel doesn't write in the studio, ever again

Two years later and I still really enjoy it. MOON is not perfect. Far from it actually. But Noel is getting closer and closer to a well rounded release. I enjoy it the most of his 3 solo albums and hope he takes it even further for the next go around. I'm digging this period for Noel. So much activity.

Yep, still the best post-Oasis Gallagher release. Cohesive, colourful, energetic. Fantastic record.

Chasing Yesterday and Who Built The Moon are the best albums since Be Here Now. Who Built the Moon is much more of a logical progression from Chasing Yesterday than the prevailing narrative suggests. Holmes clearly played a big part in kicking him further down that road, but he was already on his way.

Chasing Yesterday hasn't aged great for me, it has some amazing songs but I don't love it as a continous listen.
WBTM on the other hand is beautifully crafted, to the degree where I don't mind the fact that there's not enough actual songs on it and that two are filler. The high points on the album are among the best of Noel's solo career for sure.

AA rip offs next to ancient lumpen Oasis cast offs. I mostly like all the tracks but some of them feel weird next to each other! Moon is way more coherent. X
