I think my "problem" with WBTM is that it feels too short. That kind of songs calls for a double, long, dense record but this one isn't. Actually WBTM feels like a very radio friendly album disguised as an experimental one. So when I listen to it from start to finish I end up asking "is that it?". Feels too short, don't know if I'm the only one. who built the moon? runs for 43:25, sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band clocks in at 39:52 i would rather it be on the shorter side, as is, with no songs to skip over (well, i don't skip over them personally), than to water it down with a few b-side quality fillers just to make it longer. I suppose it's because there are less sung songs on WBTM and some are 5+ minutes, when on SGt Pepper most songs clock at 2 and half or 3 mins. To me also WBTM seems way shorter than Pepper, this is weird.

The only songs i'm keeping on my daily playlist are The Man Who Built The Moon and Dead In The Water. I'm going to write some doodles about the rest, actually just the singles because i'm haven't listened to the album tracks (except TMWBTM) enough to have a precise opinion about them.
So, the singles... eh, not my thing. Holy Mountain sounds like Noel was unnaturally sober in the studio at 1 in the afternoon and David Hasselhoff or whatever that producer's name is, came in and said "hey we need a catchy tune for the album". Fort Knox is ok, but i don't want to listen to it again. It's A Beautiful World doesn't do anything to me, it's boring.

These are the songs that are on my playlist.... random order
Be careful what you wish for If love is the law The man who built the moon Keep on reaching She taught me how to fly
Occasional listen- Fort knox- the alarm is the only thing I hate.
Dead in the water- it's beautiful but definitely have to be in mood for it.
After giving it more time, it's good and definitely different. I really like the 5 songs I listed. But, I'm just not as interested in the entire album like i am with Liam's.. i can jam beginning to end.

Brilliant album but sounds like dig out your soul part 2 .. At some points, with Keep on Reaching, Be Careful What You Wish For, The Man Who Built the Moon, and Black & White Sunshine (to a lesser extent), but otherwise it's a pretty good departure in sound for Noel. Anyways, saying the album is like DOYS part 2 isn't an insult at all. DOYS was on its way to being a good album, had it not been for Muffins and The Nature of Reality (Boy With the Blues replacing those two songs would've been fantastic), and that album was a step in the right direction for Oasis.

Honestly, I've really struggled with this. The three songs I keep going back to are: Black and White Sunshine Be careful What You Wish For Keep On Reaching All three are probably the most conventional tunes on this record. I'm not going to go outta my way to slag it off, that's not my way. I remember staying up all night with Noel's first two records, trying to play em on my guitar and sharing in the excitement on here. Just didn't get that vibe this time. Good to see he is doing well with it though. Yep those three and the title track are the ones I can listen to. The rest just isn't my bag of tea no matter how many times I've tried listening to the album either all the way through or selecting the tracks individually.

Fort Knox, It’s a Beautiful World and The Man Who Built The Moon are cracking tunes.
The rest I still haven’t gotten into that much. I liked the slightly darker New Order vibe of She Taught Me How To Fly from Jools Holland but the album version is a little bit too pop for me.
I know it’s not a NG track but I do like the David Holmes Logan Lucky track Noel plays guitar on :

I don’t know but there must be something wrong with me but to me the album is just horrible . The songs just aren’t there ,it’s a shame as I quite like the production that Holmes brings to it but as far as the descion to write in the studio well it me that has been a disaster. There are only 3 really descent songs on it (STHTF,BAWS,ILITL) I know a lot of people like the title track but to me it is just durge and completely devoid of melody and the chorus well it’s hardly a sing a along anthem . What else is there ? 3 rubbish instrumentals ,2 songs just written around a riff (KOR, BCWYWF) and then you have Holy Mountain which is in its category of just god awful . I have loved every Gallagher related release since 94 and it gives me no pleasure to say this but WBTM is rubbish and not worthy of Noel putting his name on it . He should have put it out under another name like Paul MCarthey does ie The Fireman for experimental albums . Am not surprised the tour has not sold out and it won’t . oh Forgot Beautiful World ok 4 good songs . spot on. almost. she taught me how to fly is the standout track for me. black and white sunshine, holy mountain. that's it. dead in the water is a beautiful song.

The other night I had a dream that Black & White Sunshine was a mix of Let There Be Love and Stop Crying Your Heart Out, which I thought sounded fucking mega in the dream. Was gutted to wake up to find this was not the case.
Still, B&WS is still one of my favorites off of WBTM.

You ask me if I’m happy with the new album?
Listen, I bloody well love Holy Mountain, She Talk Me How to Fly, It’s a Beautiful World, Black and White Sunshine, The Man Who Built the Moon, Dead in the Water, and God Help Us All.
Am I happy with that?
No I’m not. I WANT MORE!!!

I tried listening again today, I still can't get into it. Can't help but feel I never will if it's not clicked by now.

Haven't listened to the album since early December, so I'm going to put it on tomorrow morning. I still like it, but I'd say its neatly in between the best 5 off CY and the more ordinary 5.

Still love it on the treadmill.
Trying out a new portable PA at my school in the gym. Played Beautiful World and had the kids dancing.
I don't want this to be the permanent direction, but I still like it!

I like all of it, bar the instrumentals and Keep On Reaching, but nothing really has any kind of emotional impact on me. I find myself with Fort Knox, Beautiful World and She Taught Me To Fly in my head quite a bit but it's just because they're cool, catchy tunes. They don't provoke anything in me. It's the most soulless record Noel has ever produced.

i put it on from time to time but it doesn't do a lot for me. Keep On Reaching, and the title track are amazing but the rest is decent at best

Fuck. What's that song 'The Man Who Built The Moon' is trying to be? It's been on some BBC advert or something... The main melody is on a tin whistle/recorder or something... It's a Hoppipolla/Bittersweet Symphony kinda thing... Ahh fuck. Finally remembered! It was this (a song sampled by Kanye West interestingly enough)... Same drums, no? " Diamonds in her hair"? Definitely an influence.

All goes horribly wrong when Noel opens his mouth. Ironic that Noel needs a singer so should be the main songwriter in a band while.......
Liam is a brilliant singer who needs that songwriter behind him

All goes horribly wrong when Noel opens his mouth. Two platinum (and a third on the way) albums suggest otherwise.

Still really like the album. I think it needs one more song though. With two (almost three) instrumentals it doesn't quite feel like a 'full' album.
