7/10 it's a good album, there are weak songs and really awesome songs. I won't listen to It's a beautiful World ever again (I really don't get the love for this one at all) but I'm going to listen to Keep on Reaching a lot. Two really great albums from both the Gallaghers, life is good!

Totally opposite for me. It´s the weakest album by Noel. Not bad, because Noel couldn´t produce a bad record, but very forgettable. Please Noel, pick up an electric guitar and give us that incredible riffs you used to. And pick up an acoustic guitar and continue giving us very exciting/magical moments like Dead in the Water. I just hope after this record he realized what he´s the best on. If i urge to listen some experimental, mood, ambiental, based on vibes music there are a lot of groups out there i´d listen first than Who built the moon I doubt Noel will ever go back to his old style of music and thank god he won’t, glad he’s moved on, if I wanted his old style I’d put on an old album Well, you have an opinion and i have another totally different. And mine isn´t the truth or the better, it´s just one opinion from an insignificant person on a forum. The problem here for me is that, yes, I´d put on whatever old album by Noel over this one. But not because i don´t like any kind of music outside oasis, just because WBTM is a really average album.

I was gonna wait til Friday but I'm bored today. I'm up to the Interlude and so far I love it but Keep on Reaching sounds a bit like a Beady Eye tune and Black and White Sunshine just sounds like a cross between Do the Damage and the latter day Oasis version of My Big Mouth. For some reason It's a Beautiful World sounds even better in the context of the record. I'm impressed but I've wanted a Noel/Oasis record like this ever since '98 when I first heard UNKLE's Lonely Soul and Noel's own remix of their tune, 'The Knock'. It's not as "out there" for me as for some others on these boards as I already listen to loads of this sort of stuff, instead of championing lad/dad rock.
Weakest tune is by far She Taught Me How to Fly - it's like a zero-substance Cure song. That doesn't make it bad but it's definitely the eleventh best song on the record (I don't count bonus tracks, although God Help Us All is nothing we haven't heard before and is pretty pointless).

I have to mention vocals. They are not on the same level as everything else. I am not crying for Liam, but Noel's voice is just not my cup of tea and there is nothing he can do about it. And that will always stops him to make really enjoyable record. In my book anyway. But I believe that wider audience think the same. Same, I never felt he has the voice to carry an entire album. Not many people have though. His voice annoys me after about 3 songs and always has.

1. Fort Knox: Good album opener 7/10 2. Holy Mountain: Still rubbish 3/10 3. Keep On Reaching: Brass is quite nice but that's about it. I think the vocal melodies are lacking. There's not a lot to love or hate about it. 5/10 4. It's a Beautiful World: Meh, i still think it could have been lifted straight from a Coldplay album. 5/10 5. She Taught Me How To Fly: Quite a nice catchy guitar pop song. Honestly sounds like it could have been a filler on an a Vaccines album though. There's thousands of bands all over Soundcloud making this music, no better or worse. It's ok as far as generic guitar pop goes. 6.5/10 6. Be Careful What You Wish For: The initial groove is nice enough but it doesn't go anywhere. That groove could have been a bed for a much more interesting song and journey. Just plods along without any inspired ideas. 4/10 7. Black And White Sunshine: I honestly find this one to be dreadful. I'm sure Noel has thrown better songs away than this. It's so generic and dull. 2/10 8. Interlude (Wednesday part 1): Just a boring little instrumental, nothing clever or interesting about it musically, sounds like a half finished idea. 3/10 9. If Love Is The Law: Some of the music is nice, bit of a Motown beat and some of the instruments underneath are a bit Spector. Vocal melodies are ok in the verse This song was crying out for a great chorus that never comes. 5.5/10 10. The Man Who Built The Moon: By far the best song musically. This is more what i expected the album to be like. It's well put together and creative. If they had the ability to make a good piece of music like this, then i can't understand why things like Be Careful What You Wish For are such boring plodders. 7.5/10 11. End Credits: Like the interlude, just sounds like a half finished idea. Nice enough. 5.5/10 As for Dead In The Water and God Help Us All, i think they're just pure Noel-by-numbers. Boring. It's no wonder he forgot about Dead In The Water. I bet he's thrown away better songs than that too. DITW is probably 5/10 and the other one about 3/10. As a whole, the album is probably 5/10. For something that was meant to be a creative collaboration, it's extremely generic and bland in most places. Certainly not the "cosmic pop" album that Noel says/thinks it is. It's a collaboration between people that are out of touch, devoid of any great ideas and middle aged. Also, i do find it difficult to listen to Noel's voice for an entire album and always have done. I don’t agree with this post, it’s not an amazing album but I’d give it a 7/10 overall. However I absolutely agree with you on Noel’s voice. I’ve never been able to put it into words but you’ve got it spot on. I like his voice, but a full album is a bit much and probably one of the reasons I’ve not really gone back to his previous solo albums. The Man Who Built The Moon however is stunning. A fucking great track.

Keep On Reaching made just laugh out really out. Sounds like the forgotten brother of She Must Be One of Us. Dreadful.

Excellent record, but HM still rubbish, STMHTF as a first single would have worked way better IMHO. Far less "experimental" than I thought after every info we got through interviews etc. To me, it sounds like a classical Noel album with great experiments in the correct direction that make it work well. Got the feeling that some songs on this one could've been on CY too and vice-versa.

Not sure it’s gonna stand the test of time for me, but then music isn’t so much like that now or at least doesn’t have tha effect on me.

Such a great album, been hyped for it since heard Holmes was producer, and it lives up to that hype.
Full respect to Noel for the album and fact he wrote all these songs. Amazing.

Amazing album, probably the best since BHN. Not a bad song in it. Now, it is 9/10 for me. Let's see what happens with time

Don't think it's as good as many are making out. Suppose we're all a little giddy now tho We had people saying As You Were was a modern day classic the day it was released mate. As ever, we'll go overboard at first. I haven't had chance to listen to it all yet, I will do later. I'm still obsessed with the live version of 'Be Careful...' to be honest.

Apart from 2-3 tunes, i have to say i'm disappointed with the record. Noel should take a hiatus and write a great record like NGHFB in terms of song quality, but with better production. David Holmes did a good job but can't polish a turd. There are only moments of greatness (TMWBTM, STMHTF, DITW) and the rest is pretty average.

The Noël voice complaints baffle me, don't get that.....Líam's vocals actually grate one me after a while, but, then again, I pee in the shower...
Godzilla bless.

Holmes created the turd though, he isn't trying to polish it. He didn't want to work with songs Noel had written and wanted to do it from scratch and write in the studio and that's why it's lacking in good songs. Everything sounds forced and i don't think this process works for Noel in terms of getting the best songs out of him. Someone like Damon Albarn should produce Noel, seriously. He is a guy that understands songwriting but has a great ability to drift between genres, can create straight forward music, as well as experimental music but the emphasis is still always on well crafted songs. He can take basic good pop songs and take them somewhere else musically.

TMWBTM has got a killer riff, soundtrack to a murder scene on a Tarantino film! just ran an OOPS mix on it, amazing brass work is hidden in those layers

After two listens, I think this is clearly Noel's best solo album. That makes it the best Gallagher album since WTSMG for me. The lowest point of the record is Black and White Sunshine, and even that one has a nice uplifting chorus. The rest of the tracks are all highlights in their own way.
