1. St. Vincent - Masseduction 2. Laura Marling - Semper Femina 3. Charlotte Gainsbourg - Rest 4. Lucy Rose - Something's Changing 5. Jay Som - Everybody Works 6. The War On Drugs - A Deeper Understanding 7. Alvvays - Antisocialites 8. JFDR - Brazil 9. Mishima - Ara i Res 10. Kiko Dinucci - Cortes Curtos
That's my top 10 for the moment. I'd include Mount Eerie's A Crown Looked At Me but I don't think I can proper "rank" or "judge" that album.
Special mentions to Wolf Alice's Visions Of A Life, Angelo de Augustine's Swim Inside The Moon, Julien Baker's Turn Out The Lights, Feist's Pleasure and As You Were.

Maybe went over the heads of most folk, as it did with myself only until a few weeks ago, but this is a really really excellent album. It's about the mining industry in Wales, and offers very evocative and rich music to fit in with the theme of the record. Strongly identifies with community and the Welsh culture and features appearances from artists of Celtic origin like James Dean Bradfield and Tracyanne Campbell

Found myself not agreeing with the positive reviews tbh, Going Backwards is a tune and some others are decent (Poison Heart springs to mind) but it really feels like Martin Gore isn't trying anymore. Production and some of the lyrics are nice but it suffers in the songwriting department.

1. Los Campesinos - Sick Scenes 2. Noel Gallagher - Who Built the Moon? 3. Taylor Swift - Reputation 4. As You Were - Liam Gallagher
5. Kasabian - For Crying Out Loud 6. Ed Sheeran - Divide
Yes. The Kasabian album really was that bad.

With each passing year my stomach for such lists gets worse and worse. Not for the concept of making a list of top albums of the year but because I find that the quality of complete albums drops every single year. I have no problem listing singles though.

I'd hate to miss anything good. As you've got I Promise in there, what about this leftover from ★: It was included in the cast recording of his musical Lazarus, put out last year, but its release as part of an EP (also called No Plan) on January 8th of this year was its first proper release. Some other bits and bobs I've liked from this year: Elbow - Magnificent (She Says) Holy Holy - That Message Laura Marling - Soothing Lucy Rose - Second Chance Paul Weller - She Moves with the Fayre; Satellite Kid Queens of the Stone Age - The Way You Used to Do; Hideaway Radiohead - Man of War (I'm sure you didn't forget this, but I felt I had to mention it anyway) Slowdive - Sugar for the Pill Spoon - Hot Thoughts Wolf Alice - Beautifully Unconventional Also, some Alvvays, but you're not keen on them, are you?

Slowdive - Slowdive Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - Who Built The Moon? Ride - Weather Diaries The War On Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
Haven't listened to many new albums in full this year but these would make my list for the best listens so far. As You Were is good but wouldn't say it's some of the best stuff I've heard this year.
Tracks on the album are on my favorite songs of the year though:
Doesn't Have To Be That Way Chinatown Universal Gleam I've All I Need

Along with Chinatown, it's definitely one of the better produced As You Were tracks.
