It's not surprise that Noel has taken Gem into HFB; it's been clear for years that he wanted to do that. And I think Chris is better than Boiler Room Guy in anybody's band. Everyone needs to feed their families so no hard feelings there. Anyone think Andy might join up with the 'Birds and then Noel will have the whole band except Liam. Which is a long way around if all he wanted to do in the first place was to fire Liam from Oasis.

I think it would happen if Ride werent a thing. But since they are, it wont.

Nothing wrong with Russell Prichard. Wasn't a big fan of Andy on the bass anyway, even though its not like Oasis required a savant on the instrument....

Is Ride doing anything at the moment?

Is Ride doing anything at the moment? They're on tour supporting their first album in 22 years that they released this year. Unless Andy and Mark start hating each other again, there is very little chance Andy will join the High Flying Birds.

Noel never seemed as close to Andy. No, he never did. But you gotta admit it'd be a good twist of the knife in Liam's gut if Noel hired on ALL the Beady Eye members.

Russell Prichard is far better for NGHFB, in my opinion, than Andy ever would be, so I hope not. I hope he doesn't join Liam either, I quite like his bass player, he's by far the best member of Liams band.

Russell is a good bass player, does some good backing vocals, and adds some welcomed energy to the stage. In fact I think now Noel has the best band he has ever had, or the one that fits him best.

He'd be more likely to replace Jay as guitarist for Liam. He's best doing his thing with Ride anyway.

Russel is doing a good job and same to Andy with Ride

Russ is great in the band. The drummer that was in the band before was alright too, don't know what are you talking about. But tbh,Gem and Chris are so welcomed. Specially Gem,love how that lad plays.

Aye Tim Smith and Jeremy Stacey were brilliant for the first two albums. Stacey was unbelievable during that first HFB tour. But Chris and Gem are welcome additions. I think Gem suits these new songs better as well from the little we've heard, than what Tim would have done. Chris is an awesome drummer. Andy is fine doing things with Ride. He's a good bassist but an excellent guitarist. Leave him to it. Russ and Noel have good onstage chemistry and the new tunes really seem to be letting Russ excel as well considering the bass is (finally) so much more prominent. Plus the 'dancy' feel to it allows Russ to change it up a bit. The bass in Holy Mountain (live) is superb. It's great on the record too, but obviously that was Noel playing it, not Russ.

Must admit that I used to hate Russ in the first album tour. He did a terrible backing vocal job, didn't like it. In the second album he was much better but now he suits the band perfectly. Saw Jeremy live with the band and the drumming was good, maybe too hard that it hurted in the ears (Maybe thats a problem of the sound engineer or maybe the fact that I was in the front lol). And Tim never caught my attention. I just love Gem. A little off topic thats been in my mind. I know that its a band playing Noel's solo songs. But with Gem in the studio, there could be a song co-writen with Noel maybe..? As far as I know,Gem co writed with Liam and Andy, but not with Noel. Something good could happen in that point. Or maybe he manage to fuck up the album. Don't know.

On your second point, maybe, but I think Noel - given that he's a complete control freak - will always work on his own or just with a producer like he has with Holmes, when it comes to his own songs. He plays all of the guitars, bass and drums on this one I do believe. It does in fairness go unnoticed just how multi-talented the little Manc freak is Can't see him co-writing with a band member any time soon.

Wiki credits Jason Falkner and Samuel Dixon with the bass on the album. Not sure who played on Holy Mountain though.

Noel seems to value fun and a sprinkling of lightheartedness nowadays.
Andy Bell doesn’t exactly seem like a ball of energy.

At this point, it would be demeaning for Andy to go and join Liam or Noel on the bass. He's doing more than fine with Ride, he's an amazing guitarist (better than Noel and Gem in my opinion) and a great songwriter for Ride.
It worked the first time because he was at an all time low and they did save him from joining Gay Dad. But no chance it is happening now.
Good to see all they get along now. Andy made a point of thanking Gem in the liner notes of the Ride album, and they all met last month here in Mexico.

Russell's way too good to fire. Plus Noel and Andy never seemed too close and I'm not sure they became closer after each others' commments about the other since the band split.

Noel mentioned Andy by name in the first HFB press conference when he said he was 'tying his shoe laces' during the whole aggro with Liam. He didn't with the other band members.
Not sure if that means he has more beef with him than the others but I haven't heard him mention him since Oasis split.

There are pictures of Noel and Andy laughing together a couple of years back, when they met on some festival. Plus, last month Andy (and the rest of Ride) were invited to see NGHFB/U2 here in Mexico, some fans that were waiting before doors were opened took some pics with Andy, so I'm pretty sure he was backstage with them, so any beef he and Noel had is probably over by now.

I like the bass player Noel has now. He's giving 200% each night, seems to really enjoy this gig and he's got a good technique. What's not to like ?
That version of NGHFB is pretty much perfect. Gem has a got a very distinctive guitar sound, Mike Rowe is an amazing keyboardist.
Not a fan of Sharrock, i'd rather have Alan White but i guess that won't ever happen.

No bad feelings apparently from Andy's side, against either brother. Quite supportive I'd say! http://instagram.com/p/BZ5GeDWj-so I think it's great for Andy that that Ride reunion has taken off so well.
