OK I was all onboard with the new sound, took the time to get used to Holy Mountain, I liked Fort Knox and I'm waiting for the studio version of She Taught Me How To Fly to judge it. But fucking scissors?! What the actual fuck Noel? Scissors... come the fuck on, that's just ridiculous! 2017 Noel needs to have a chat with 2002 Noel who was slamming the use of a Hoover. The hoover looks a lot less stupid than those bloody child scissors... Scissors... Call me stupid but I have a feeling that the whole scissors thing was never meant to be taken seriously...it's just a laugh init.

Can you imagine the reaction if Oasis went on tour with a box of Wheaties and wooden spoons in 2005?

He's going to make light of the scissors scenario either way. And call everyone buffoons or otherwise. The truth lies somewhere in between though.

The scissor playing cracks me up! Doesn't make me like the song any more or less, but did make it more entertaining to watch I thought. The song itself is just meh for me and so far I like Fort Knox best of the tracks I've heard.

He just hadn't hit his midlife crisis. Are we now going to pretend every last touch on his new songs is this brilliant, open-minded move?

I think he's just not taking himself too seriously as he always has done throughout his career. I think it's hilarious! She's like Bez out of Happy Mondays. I wonder what she'll do next!

I hope the scissor lady goes on tour and is mixed way up high above the other instruments, just to piss people who moan about that.

Are we now going to pretend every last touch on his new songs is this brilliant, open-minded move? Watch interviews from that period. It is a fact that Noel put on this Luddite costume between 2002 and 2004 (the Definitely Maybe DVD is particularly cringy). Probably as a way to compensate for his lack of inspiration at the time and the band's relapse into cavemen territory. I've been a fan since early 1996, by the way. I'm aware of the timeline. And no, I'm not claiming Noel has just gone avant-garde, I'm just pointing to the fact that those were the dark ages for this guy and his claims were at best laughable.

Really love this tune, it's like a lighter version of Rocking Chair. Brilliant.

I thought it sounded pretty decent, although a bit repetitive maybe. And am I the only one getting a light Talking Heads vibe?

Just watched the clip again, and it's the "Put your money where your wouth is" part that sounds the most Talking Heads-ish to me. Can't recall what song I'm thinking of though...

If Liam had released either of this songs that Noel has put out he'd be the laughing stock of the music world. Let alone having some crazy bird playing scissors. Keep making excuses for him but if too many of you do you will be subjecting yourselves to piss poor output like this for years to come. If some up and coming band released this songs would you be praising them? Highly doubtful.
I like this track and I would if it were the fucking Pope writing it. I'm not a fan of four Oasis albums, one of which Noel Gallagher wrote entirely by himself. Accept that other people are going to have different opinions about music. You don't like the new songs? Fine. I sat through Oasis Mk II in dismay, but you didn't see me telling people on the forum that they're making excuses for the band. Now it's my turn to enjoy the new stuff.
As for the scissors: if you think someone playing scissors on a song is going to put me off of anything, you should see some of the stuff I have in my record collection. On the contrary, I think it's fucking cool. And you obviously didn't address my point on your reply.
Spot on pal. So far the 3 songs released pisses all over the Oasis Mk2 era. The sooner people realise it, the better!

I'm liking the positive, upbeat tone so far from the 3 songs we've heard now from the album. I hope the whole album is full of them, with no hint of a downbeat track. I am not a fan of Noel doing sad, depressing melancholy stuff. I much prefer happy Noel music. This could be his most positive sounding album since...... no prizes for guessing which album I am going to say. Tbf, even Be Here Now has Magic Pie, Stand By Me and Don't Go Away on it I know they're nowhere near the most melancholy music Noel's ever put out, but imo any album needs a mix of uppers and downers so they complement each other. Like I think that the track Be Here Now sounds a lot more euphoric coming in off of Don't Go Away than it would off another positive track like DYKWIM, MBM or IHITIK I see Magic Pie and Stand By Me as positive, uplifting tracks actually. The 2 downers for me are Fade In/Out and DGA. But I think in general most will agree that BHN is the most positive, upbeat record of Noel's entire career. Throw in the upbeat B sides too, and this was his most positive era in general.

I wanted Noel to change the Oasis set lists up from about 2000 onwards and am a big fan of the AA remixes of previous tracks but HM and STMHTF are just terrible (quite like FN as an opener)- any other artist/singer released them and they'd be slated. Genuinely I think he's having a mid life crisis, wearing sunglasses inside for everything, skinny jeans, dad dancing.
Interestingly he had it all his own way from 2009 to 2017 as Beady Eye weren't a threat to him, Liam has released an album which has sold well, he's sold out a huge outdoor gig while Noel is struggling to sell out arenas. Another 12 months of this and it'll be Noel begging for the Oasis reunion which is what Liam said would happen. Interesting POV. I thought he was having his midlife crisis around DOYS-NGHFB, with all those death-themed and God-themed songs, his increasing unhappiness with Oasis until the point he just decided to go. Perhaps this is part 2 of this crisis, when he tries to deny he's on the 2nd half of his life and tries to adopt a 20-something like look with those sunglasses and the dance. As for the song, I was talking to my wife today (who's also mad fer it) and she made an interesting point: while listening to Noel's voice used to be very cool every once in a while, his voice gets very tiresome on the long haul. Then I realized that, scissors aside, his voice is probably what I most disliked in STMHTF.

Right first off I love Noel and get he wants to try to be a bit different and after writing the soundtrack to my youth and life since I can let him off......unfortunately Liam just dropped the soundtrack to my now!!! Back to 'She taught....' its pretty dire for me and like the 'she bangs..' of HM I cringed at the 'put your money where your mouth is' seriously bringing back memories of an unfinished sounding song with shite lyrics is not great on an unfinished sounding song with shite lyrics Fort Knox is interesting although a little bit back ground music / intro ....the rest is as bad as Mr Noel Gallagher has ever spat out PYMWYMI is like Live Forever compared to this stuff he is singing now... Yawn.

I thought scissors lady was going to be playing the whistle in Holy Mountain like in the video but I think that was just done on keyboards. I'm not sure what real purpose she has, unless she's the French speaker on Beautiful World, but I thought it was the black singer from the Fort Knox behind-the-scenes. She looks a bit like the lady from BBC daytime programme Money For Nothing, and maybe it is her.

I was talking with my friend about Noel's new stuff and she was surprised I liked Fort Knox. But -- and sorry if this sounds like a backhanded compliment -- I think I like it best of the three for the shortage of lyrics. Though I like Noel-written songs in general, I've never cared for his voice very much.

It’s no wonder Sara is said to be the one trying to distance Noel from Oasis. All his fucking songs are about her now. Change the theme.
