It definitely sounds similar. I don't blame him for cancelling his order. I'm certainly not thinking the £70 I have put down is value for money so far. I still don't get this. Are people really cancelling a £10 iTunes download of the upcoming album from one of their favorite artists after hearing two songs and a half off it? I think it's a bit crazy. But hey, maybe it's just me. And that guy even got to the point of filming himself while doing it, and posting the clip on social media while insulting a woman for no reason. That's more than crazy, it's just plain stupid. I did. Two weeks back. Same with Morrisseys new record. I just don’t like what I’m hearing. I buy those albums I really value. This doesn’t cut it. This year I bought the new Ride, Slowdive and Liam Albums. All three make me feel good. Noel’s solo stuff grinds on me. |

Arcade Fire fabricated the entire event to create a story in the media. Its been discussed and broken down over the summer. They did so many bizarre fake news events during the promotional period. Some of it hilarious. I’m all for the Noel criticisms - mostly because I think he’s turned into a complete dick and disappeared up his celeb-primed arse - but I think those on here who are saying put the brakes on and see how the album works as a cohesive whole still have a point. I think HM is turgid schmaltz...but it kinda makes sense when it follows FK.
Noel is still a spoon though 🙂

Initial listen: 6/10
Current rating: 7/10
I'm digging the 80s vibe. As mentioned by someone else on here, I'm hoping there's a killer guitar solo or instrumental break somewhere in there on the album version because it is a bit too repetitive.
I also get excited seeing both Gem <3, and Chris on stage with Noel. Gem is the fucking man, and Chris is such a better drummer than the previous guy.
(Get Liam back, and a replacement for Andy and we're in business).

I always find a fork handy with soup (for spearing solids or twirling noodles). It's the spoon that's superfluous since you can just sip out of the bowl/cup. |

I really like it. As The Escapist said, the album version will be more interesting to listen to but from the first clip we got I knew this would be one I'd like. I think the Blondie sound similarity is a good spot, though it always sounded more New Order to me. Definitely my favourite of the 3, though I do quite like FK. Still kind of ambivalent and indifferent about HM. I can't believe that the scissors got more of a response than the fact that Noel shouts "Put yer money where yer mouth is!". I laughed out loud when I heard that, assuming that lyric would take up half the pages in this thread. Sadly, it only appeared in a few comments. |
