I appreciate and kinda like her stuff... but I'm not having her on the stage with Noel. I hope he didn't get her on board just to be "out there", because she's more talented than using scissors on an MOR rock song.

Bonjour.

So only one dude got video / audio from this event? And it's just the walk on stage? Nothing else, kids?? C'mon on people! When applied for ticket, they said mobile phone and recording device were forbidden. I guess one managed to sneak one in.

The common pigeons all had their phones locked in a pouch but I saw a few being used up in the VIP area.

"Into Tomorrow" is one of my all time Weller favourites and he still plays live. The self titled documentary is great to watch. Noel is also in the documentary with his comment. So only one dude got video / audio from this event? And it's just the walk on stage? Nothing else, kids?? C'mon on people! Calm down. People don't have to film a gig to make it available on internet. If I'm at a gig, I won't be bothered to holding my phone all the time to film it to stream on internet. Jesus, if I go to a gig, I go to a gig to enjoy it, not to be a part of a fake camera team. Also all the audiences had to give their phone away before entering the venue, right?

Has always been a favourite of our Noel's: Maybe element103's onto something here... I love it when the "sounds like..." comments start coming in. Even if they end up being untrue, it's always exciting building up a picture of how a record's going to sound. Have we heard any opinions about Keep on Reaching yet? Was that the one that someone from Q or wherever got his Beatles reference in for (by likening it to Come Together)? For me that's one of the most fun parts, the whole blablabla sounds like blablabla thing.

I guess if Noel only kindly asked people not to film it, i probably would have been the only to respect that decision. So forbidding the common pigeons from bringing their phone was not such a bad idea. You cant trust people generally, even on a free show.

apparently she's worked with Kevin Shields she's quite the virtuoso 🤔 I'm actually a bit disappointed to find out scissors playing wasn't Noel's idea, and that she has been cutting away with other people too.

I just took a quick look through her Facebook page. She's got excellent musical taste.

Yeah it must have been a pretty good night, no phones, like it's the 90s again. People actually listening to the band and all, lucky dude you are

The tin whistle in HM is a sample, so she was just miming to it. And the scissor playing was useless in a track like STMHTF, so I'm guessing Noel just thought it'd be cool having her do it on stage, but her actual contributions won't be heard until the record drops.

Just thought some of you may be interested in my experience of last night:
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, York Hall, Bethnal Green 1/11/2017
Around two weeks before the gig my friend alerted me to the fact there was a competition to win tickets to a one-off NGHFB gig. The competition rules asked for favourite memories of seeing Noel Gallagher live. I wrote about the time I saw him at the Royal Albert Hall on the Chasing Yesterday tour.
Competition Entry:
I was at work one day when the friend I was attending the gig that night with phoned me and asked me to find out who the support act was. I rang the Albert Hall and was told, “It’s just Noel Gallagher playing an acoustic set of Oasis songs.” I couldn’t believe my ears. I usually don’t bother with support acts but obviously this time I did. And, I have to say, that is the most redundant and inappropriate use of the word “just” I have EVER encountered in my entire life.
So I sent that off with low expectations of winning tickets as it was only a 1,000 capacity venue and, obviously Noel Gallagher has slightly more than 1,000 fans. I actually kind of forgot about it until BLAM: I got an email saying I’ve been the lucky winner of two standby tickets yesterday at 14.30. I instantly messaged my friend who’d also entered on the agreement that if either of us won we’d give the spare to each other and go together. Cue both being a mixture of being ridiculously excited with thoughts of, “They’re only standby tickets, what if we don’t get in?”
I have never been so subdued on the way to a gig in my life due to the feeling of potential rejection. Anyway, we got to nearby the venue and had a cheeky can (outside the sight of security - didn’t want to risk blowing any chances of getting in). From where we were right in front of the venue, there was no-one else around and we thought, “This is gonna be easy to get in!” Finished the beer, walked a little bit up the street and it was like the set of fucking Spartacus. The queue for priority tickets was two deep all the way down two blocks, crossed a street and another queue for the standby tickets (us) two deep for another block. At this point we were thinking that there’s absolutely no chance of getting in. We queued for around an hour crossing our fingers before one of the security staff came along and said, “Don’t worry, everyone’s getting in.”
Cue massive cheers of excitement and relief from the queue. The security staff were even excited that everyone was getting in, probably relieved that they weren’t going to have to deal with a riot.
We got to the front of the queue where there was airport-style security as it was strictly forbidden to bring in any form of recording equipment, and phones had to be locked away, got our wristbands, went for a desperately-needed piss, ran to the bar and got down the front.
Actual gig review later x

Good call. They called DYKWIM a "searing, Oasis-esque new tune" from Liam.

No need for me to do a review now as that NME one is pretty decent. No videos as phones had to be locked away before entry but it was professionally recorded and being released on Nov 24.

The funniest bit of the whole night was when NG quipped that Charlotte AKA Scissor Girl is planning to progress to the garden shears!
