Can I ask why you think it's stupid? The poll results so far show a variety of different opinions, people's posts contain speculation across the spectrum of views, and people seem to have something to say about it. Seems a fair and interesting question that's provoked some debate. If you have a strong view and think it's an emphatic no then say so, you don't have to belittle the question! That doesn't say a lot. Some members on here have to say something about everything. Maybe my reaction was a bit too strong though. Although...no. It starts more Liam-Noel debates and that's not necessary. I don't get how people could think he's trying to steal Liam's thunder. He's releasing an album what, 6 weeks later? He released a single the Monday after Liam's album got released, which already had a lot of buzz. He had already released 3 or 4 songs. Noel has barely promoted Holy Mountain. If he was out to steal his thunder, he would have released it earlier. He would have done much more interviews and we would've seen a lot more about the album. And I agree with you! I find the idea that Noel is trying to steal Liam’s thunder ludicrous. The greatest songwriter of his generation with a great voice of his own and imo one of the greatest layerer of guitar tracks to have ever lived can let his music do the talking. But this poll has seen almost 50% of people disagree with me! It’s shocked me tbh but shows that it’s a valid question. Most people are in a “camp” - Liam or Noel. Which again is ludicrous. Fuckin chill out and enjoy their interviews and music. They’re both legendary imo. And my heart tells me Oasis will reform one day anyway. So everyone just enjoy the ride in the meantime!!

If Holy mountain had been released on October 6th then maybe I’d look upon this differently. I don’t believe Noel set out to steal Liam’s thunder. Not fan of Holy Mountain, but just trying to enjoy the fact that the Gallagher’s are both putting out new music and are both touring.

Anyone who thinks that Noel is the one responsible for any release dates - not his label and his management - is basically wrong. Anyone who thinks that Noel is personally responsible for releasing his single on this date is basically delusional.

You know what, I would've loved it if Noel put his album out on 6th Oct and started marketing it at the same time as Liam as well! I mean, it's exciting as things are now - but just imagine that!?!

Well, when he makes statements like this, it's kinda difficult to not think that he makes those decisions.... He said: "I'm not in a band any more so I don't have to sell it to anyone. I run my own record label, I pay for my records, I promote them, I market them, I do everything myself. If I have a whim, I'm going to do it.

I mentioned this on the forum at the start of the summer. Taylor Swift lurks. She could totally cause either brother into panic mode behind the scenes if she picked their album release week. I originally thought it would impact Liam. Many signs pointed to her bringing out music in late September/early October. That could have wrecked havoc on Liam’s amazing run.
As the summer passed we all wondered why noel hadn’t officially announced his album yet despite saying to multiple media outlets it was due Out November 10. Then Taylor Swift finally announced her album Reputation on November 10th. Then a few weeks later Noel’s camp announced his album for November 24. They def got strong whispers behind the scenes that Taylor picked 11/10. Noel would have lost that chart battle for sure. We know he cares about that precious #1. It’s created all sorts of promotion problems and timelines for Noel. He will never admit it but it did.
So no. This had little to do with Liam.

I believe that Noel's album has been finished for quite some time; he spoke of it often on the CY tour, and several of these songs were probably intended for the AA psychedelic record. Liam's appears to have come together quickly, which isn't surprising given the songwriting/producing pros he was paired with. Noel could have released his record several months ago, but I think he wanted to give Lian a LITTLE taste of success before he ripped it all away from him. I don't see Taylor Swift as a big deciding factor--she's just THERE like Saturn and all rings are going to revolve around her whenever she hiccups.

You're talking like it's a given that Noel would come in and take Liam's success away, when that's impossible. Liam, right now, has way more of a 'buzz' about him than Noel ever has during his solo years. Liam's picking up new fans as well as reuniting with old Oasis fans who dumped him for Noel years ago.

The live show in Brooklyn i went to a few months ago was BUZZING. The record came out to grand success and Liam is and always will be the perfect rock and roll star. Noel is currently coming across like a bitter and jaded piece-o-crap and is losing fans by the day......i lost a lot of respect for him in the past month. He doesn't have the integrity i thought he did; he is FAR more bitter than expected.

It just looks to me that he doesn't give a shite what Liam does, and if BE/HFB history continues as it has previously, he'll blow Liam's record into the bargain bins when his new CD is released.
