Anyone who voted "yes" is a fucking mental patient. Thanks. I AM a mental patient. But I voted No. God bless.

In the current climate, the optimal time for artists like Noel and Liam (Not teeny bopper pop chart shite) to release albums is either Q1 or Q4. So as neither of them had albums and promotion ready to go by Q1 2017 it was always going to be Q4 2017. Of course one of them could have delayed their release until Q1 2018 but perhaps that would have had a knock on effect for tour dates etc. So I think the close proximity of the release is due to the current climate in the industry rather than any dastardly Masterplan from Noel. But as we can all see from the Holy Mountain video, he'll still dance if he wants to dance.

I don't think either of them are out to steal each other's thunder. I think Noel probably realises that they will both feed off each other's popularity

Of course not. Makes no sense to delay it 2 weeks if he did. Also, he would have promoted it more.

Albums take months not just to write and record, but also to produce and market. It's just a coincidence. If anything I can imagine Noel and the label deciding to get out of Liam's way to avoid cannibalizing each other's sales.
I do think Noel can be a manipulative little twat, but not to this point. He can be mean, but I don't think he's this vindictive.

This forum has got progressively weirder in the last few months and I can't imagine what it's going to be like if Holy Mountain turns out to be the most immediate track on the album. Can't wait.

what stupid thread is that ? If there is a masterplan behind all this, it's only benefiting both acts rather than putting one down. The NME had to hire 300 more 15 year olds to write articles about the Gallaghers. I dont think it's a coincidence. Both teams probably talked at some point for the two releases not to crash into the other. It's all been smooth and pretty smart, so there was definitely quick talks.

They're definitely both going to benefit from this.
Hopefully they'll mention eachother in interviews, good or bad, to help boost awareness of eachothers albums.

I meant that both of them having autumn releases wasn't the result of some machination, as they each would have been working on their album for months. I definitely agree that their two camps probably agreed not to go head-to-head, which would have only hurt both of them.

I'm rather Team Liam than Team Noel but to assume Noel set the album release this way to steal Liam's thunder is just ridiculous.

How is releasing a mediocre song "stealing anyone's thunder"?

I don't think it was planned intentionally, as others have said he was recording this album for four years and six months ago there was no information about Liam's album really.
Having said that I don't think noel would have minded if it had a little bit.

How is releasing a mediocre song "stealing anyone's thunder"? Easy. If your "mediocre" song is better than your competition's subpar material. 🎵

This is one of the most stupid and ridiculous polls I've ever seen on this forum. Can I ask why you think it's stupid? The poll results so far show a variety of different opinions, people's posts contain speculation across the spectrum of views, and people seem to have something to say about it. Seems a fair and interesting question that's provoked some debate. If you have a strong view and think it's an emphatic no then say so, you don't have to belittle the question!

That doesn't say a lot. Some members on here have to say something about everything. Maybe my reaction was a bit too strong though. Although...no. It starts more Liam-Noel debates and that's not necessary. I don't get how people could think he's trying to steal Liam's thunder. He's releasing an album what, 6 weeks later? He released a single the Monday after Liam's album got released, which already had a lot of buzz. He had already released 3 or 4 songs. Noel has barely promoted Holy Mountain. If he was out to steal his thunder, he would have released it earlier. He would have done much more interviews and we would've seen a lot more about the album.
