I think that about all artists on all charts. I remember when bands like Pearl Jam could sell a million copies in a single week. Now a Pearl Jam album might sell 30,000 opening week. I did mean it in general, not just Noely G. Are people listening to far less music these days? I know personally I’m listening to more than ever. Granted album leaks and Spotify definitely take a huge toll on “albums sold” measurements. Maybe piracy is still sky high. I’ve purchased hundreds of albums but I’ve also........”borrowed” hundreds of others that in a Pre internet era I’d have been forced to buy in the shops. It’s prob more like the younger generation being born into the streaming mentality. Just rent songs. No need to buy.

I know theres a hell of a lof of factors involved but you do look at figures like 5,000 and think wow this is a man who sold over a million copies of a single. 5,000 people is probably the amount of staff at Knebworth. Who'd of believed it would get like it is today. Yeah it's pretty bad The funny thing is that it's not just easier to download illegaly, it's way easier to buy records too The culture and concept of supporting the artist, who should be rewarded because he puts money and effort into making music, is just not part of our society sadly

I honestly don't think Noel gives a single fuck about chart positions at this point in time! He's got a number 1 for every album he's released. I think he's expecting not to get to the top this time! After all, he said in Q that he's doing things for the sake of doing new things now- In other words he isn't playing it safe!

It's split his following in two! A safe song would be another rehash of If I Had A Gun or something

I really like what I've heard from this album so far. I think there's so much potential here! That being said, team NG is being very lazy at promoting this album!! Liam has been doing a much better job, he's been in your face about his record for the whole year pretty much.

So Eminem is releasing his album a week before Noel. Chance his 2nd week sales could beat Noel? Eminems last album sold 143 000 first week. Not sure how he did 2nd/3rd week. But Noel will need at least 60k I would've thought..

But Noel will need at least 60k I would've thought.. Difficult to say. Eminem's last album was released 4 years ago. You'd figure there'd be some regression in sales, maybe down to 120k. Typically most albums experience a 50-60% drop during the second week. That puts him around 60k. It's certainly possible that he could beat out Noel with his week 2 sales. It really comes down to what Noel does in the final 3 weeks. He just hasn't promoted this album. His charting may come down to mostly name alone.

He’s got the high profile radio gigs lined up that week. He needs the big radio single to be unleashed. 3 weeks out is the ideal time. It’s a beautiful world, prove it noel.

Eminem has also not promoted his album whatsoever. Only announced in the last few days and no mention of a single. Just checked and his (Eminem's) last album got 2nd week sales of 53 000 so Noel isn't a guaranteed #1 even taking the modern-day shrinking sales into account, as his will take a similar hit percentage-wise

Too many big fish dropping albums and holiday sales. He really needed a late October drop.

Pretty much all the Oasis fans who got Liam's album will buy Noel's anyway, even if they've been a bit insulted by his comments. Probably have fewer pre-sales and less crossover appeal with the kids due to lack of a Twitter campaign like Liam's.

I think Noel will easily beat Eminem by releasing "Who built the moon?" a week after, but I wouldn't mind Eminem beating Noel as I'm an Eminem fan as well. I'd be more upset if Noel was beaten by Taylor Swift or some other bland artist I don't like.

Noel is going to need to do some solid promotion work over the next 4 weeks or he's going to really struggle to shift this record.
Certainly won't be going anywhere near 100k like As You Were.

I think he will be number 1 in a easy way.
And with Liam hype comes oasis hype which help him to sold a little bit more.
I think he will sell 80 K.

I'm sure Noel still cares about his #1 album strike.

I would never do such a thing, but I've heard from people who used to "borrow" albums that it has become quite a bit more difficult over the last few years. Back in 2011 or 2012 you could pretty much find any album, no matter how old or new, to download in good quality a few clicks away - that is definitely gone for good. Spotify is absolutely huge with the people around me. I don't think anybody I know doesn't extensively use it, to the point where they don't use anything else to listen to music.

I would totally disagree. You'd be surprised all the albums you can get for free online with 3 clicks right at this moment. I know countless website. Plus all you have to do is google the artist, album/song and mediafire/zip/sendspace. Its alive and well in 2017.
