Holy Mountain is completely divisive, curious to see how people feel about Noel's direction.

I voted for "No, Holy Mountain is great" but I think I might change my vote to "Yes, but I love it"

I MISS THE OLD NG, THE ROCK 'N' ROLL NG, THE ALWAYS BOLD NG, SET ON HIS GOALS NG.
I HATE THE NEW NG, THE DANCING SHOES NG, THE LOVE-U2 NG, RIGHT-WING WORLD-VIEW NG.
(Just kidding, I love Holy Mountain and am beyond excited for this new album)

I think he's just experimenting really but I'd love him to go back to the days of writing RNRS, GLIO & DYKWIM but I think those days are sadly gone.

No, he just stopped writing melodies. Wait, it's a "yes, completely" actually.

It seems silly to judge based on one song. it's obviously just a tongue in cheek tune with the sole purpose of creating some buzx. For that, it's a perfect choice for a lead single. It was never meant to be an instant classic.

He's still keeping me interested in his music after all these years so that's the job done i guess.

Holy Mountain has a melody ffs Every song has a melody. That in particular is shit. I strongly disagree I don't think it's going to be anywhere close to the best stuff on the new album, but it's definitely different and a step - for me - in the right direction. Having listened to As You Were for three days, I'm already bored - and I like that album a lot. The melody and chorus in Holy Mountain is massively catchy, and does a job in generating interest as a lead single. People asked for change, and then moaned now it's here.

As long as he doesn't evolve into an electric tree with a fleshy-looking mass, the same shape as his former cranium, atop it, ... fine!

I applaud Noel for taking a new direction in his new album and i want to hear the rest of the record, but this is just Noel making dance music for the sake of sounding modern. I consider myself an open minded person when it comes to music, but i'm afraid this is poor result.

How is this 'dance' music without a synthesizer as the main instrument? Is there even any on there?

How hard is for people to accept that someone dislikes the lack of inspiration and not the change in sound?

As someone who is used to listening to "psychedelic" or "experimental" albums all the way through as a journey, and was eager to do that with this album after the video preview , I don't like this at all. I think this will be like listening to Dark Side of the Moon or Kid A for the first time, getting pulled in by the ambience, and hearing Wheels On The Bus in the middle of it.
As to people who don't like it being accused of having limited taste or expecting the same old stuff, I think that's a lazy point. You can't just tell someone you don't know why they don't like something we've only heard for a day, that's ridiculous. I can appreciate, if not necessarily like, pretty much anything. But I don't want a tongue in cheek novelty song to be part of this album.
As to the reactions it's getting here, happy for all of you, but the people saying things like it's better than anything since Be Here Now or it reminds you of the Definitely Maybe b sides ... if you're not trolling, it just goes to show how different we can all be. At least now I understand why so many people hated Mucky Fingers.
And despite all of that, I'm going to be patient with this song. Wait and see how it fits on the record. And hopefully it draws new people in.

Has Noel lost the plot or beige retrò Oasis fans can't evolve?

True, I think for quite a few, Doesn't Have To Be That Way was the best thing off Liam's record, me included, so I don't think people are just averse to change. I'm just not too keen on the actual song, rather than the ideas behind Holy Mountain. I'm still looking forward to the album though.

How is this 'dance' music without a synthesizer as the main instrument? Is there even any on there? It's definitely not dance music (although I reckon you could dance to it). Some weird arguments being used her - this has a really catchy melody, and if you look past the production much of it is classic Noel songwriting.
