As long as he doesn't evolve into an electric tree with a fleshy-looking mass, the same shape as his former cranium, atop it, ... fine! "I... am the... arm. And I... sound like... this." You really did top this!

Liam lost the plot when he was born. PS Some of his replies are golden.

No, he just stopped writing melodies. Wait, it's a "yes, completely" actually. Can't get the tune out of my head. Wouldn't be the case if there was no melodies.

If he has 'lost the plot', then it's certainly in the best way possible. First reaction to hearing even the preview clip was 'this is bonkers and I love it'.
Who likes convention anyway (well obviously quite a lot of folk here...)? That's just boring. In life, as it is in music.

I already forgot it except for the "she fell ! She fell !" part and I've listened to it about 4 or 5 times this morning. I can see why people like the joyous feeling of the tune, but for me that joy seems superficial. I don't mind Noel experimenting at all, and I think most of the people who don't like this new track don't mind it too.Not liking "Holy Mountain" doesn't make us Oasis Mk2, dad rock, NME shit bands fans. I never listen to 90% of noughties Oasis these days and I can't stand most of the british rock acts of that period but I just think the track is poor. Each to their own, I guess. Anyway, still looking forward Noel's album, I'm sure there will be some good things on it.

Can't for the life of me understand how people can say it doesn't have a melody. It has a lot of melody. It's fucking catchy. There are plenty of reasons why one could dislike it, but it not having a melody makes no sense.
Is this a case of one person saying something and the rest just imitating and following?

The passion and joy in his vocal is what makes the song and that sounds completely genuine.

I can't stop tapping my feet.

But eh, who knows, maybe it'll grow on me. I'll give it another try tomorrow.

Maybe I'm too cynical to enjoy this one. Plus I don't really dance to songs, I soak them in mentally (if that makes any sense).

People on this forum are so frightened of anything different. It's sad. Go listen to David Bowie or Prince sometime. Noel does.

Different doesnt mean that the song is good.Problably there will be some goods and different songs on his album. But in my opinion this song it isn't different and its shit.I think you all should respect others opinions.

All these aspersions cast on those of us who don't like it. I like Bowie and Prince plenty. And classical and jazz and reggae and just about anything else. What if I just don't happen to like this one shitting song?

I like both the tunes you mentioned. Holy Mountain is not in the same calibre. How hard is for people to accept that someone dislikes the lack of inspiration and not the change in sound? I respect other people opinions and I don't think that Oasis fans should like every Gallagher song. But in my opinion this song doesnt lack inspiration.

Its the best thing he's done for years you absolute squares. People on here wanting a generic Noel song. Fucking clueless about everything.

Why everyone have an opinnion? I mean,it's TOO soon. The albums not out yet. When Liam released Wall Of Glass I didn't see threads or hate. Yes,I really prefer WOG but Noel's album is not even out yet lads. Chill out. Exactly. When WOG came out, some people had the normal criticisms you might expect of any new song: Some didn't like the lyrics, others wanted a bigger chorus, and some others didn't like the post-chorus pseudo-solo. But HM has people acting like Noel just announced he was joining Sum 41. Take it easy, folks. Six weeks to go, this much stress can't be good for youse.

I don't even like the tune, but some folks here took it really really personally. Chill out and wait until the album is out

Still really excited to hear the album even though I didn't like the song. I hope this was the "mandatory" pop single that caught casual listeners attention and rest of the album is better for my music taste.

I really don't know why people are saying this is a massive departure, Noel is doing something too different, too drastic, give me the old Oasis back, etc.
A soon as I heard the track it was obvious Noel. Glaringly obvious. This is Noel Gallagher through and through. But not wanky, depressed, melancholy Noel from M2 and some of his solo stuff, but happy Noel.
The happy Noel from WTS and BHN, who suddenly started singing joyous, happy, uplifting, fast tempo tunes (no doubt celebrating his new-found fame) with songs such as Some Might Say, Step Out, The Fame, IHITIK, I got the Fever, Stay Young, Round Are Way, etc.
This song harks back to those great days (maybe reflecting Noel's newly found enjoyment of making music again?), but perhaps those of you who were not around during those great times are struggling with this, having been brought up on clearer, watered down mixes during Mk2 and NGHFB's - light years away from the Owen Morris brickwalled distortion.
This `new' sound is nothing of the sort. We are back in 1997 again - simple as, and I am loving it!

Just in the beginning bit, I thought I was about to hear Suffragette City. This song is catchy as hell and I agree with all the “makes you want to dance” people.
