If this is what we're going off of then we're all fucked Nope, they're right. And I'd rather take the critics views over commercial reception. Works both ways. Seeing as a select few Liam fanboys on here seem obsessed with chart ratings and 'commerciality', then they might as well go off and compare photos of which member of One Direction they fancy. You are in full on turtle mode Its hilarious to see. Most people who like Liam's album are happy to see its commercial performance because of what it means for Liam's career, that he will get to continue and of course happy for the man himself often being magligned by the press etc. Your standard response now seems to be to run down the intelligence or critical thinking of people who may not like the song. It must feel so warm and comfortable with you 6music panel.

I'm getting to like this song. Still feel it's a bit meh, Noel's vocal doesn't fit in very well, but definitely understand those who love it. But man, it's not like we've got some groundbreaking/sophisticated masterpiece striking you as counterintuitive that only professional and visionary minds can digest right? It's funny how fans have been quoting sales number to demonstrate why Noel's the greatest songwriter of his generation, and when commercial reception seems not rosy (and it's even too early to tell yet) they begin to dismiss it and stick to critics views. Guess this isn't about who's right, it's about which one works in your favor. The dust will settle and only time can tell. No matter how it turns out to be, I'm glad Noel's made a different record. Experiment can succeed or fail, no big deal. What matters is he tried and I'm happy for that.

I'm sorry but for those who like it, including the critics - yet again - who has said it is 'experimental'? Putting words in the mouth of those who like it I think. The fact it isn't experimental and is a straight up pop a song is a further indictment on a some of those Oasis fans who hate it, further proving their conservative and narrow minded tastes.

Other than Liam, Noel and Tom Petty, I don’t recognize Shit on that chart. I guess Pink and Sam Smith.

No, not having this. I understand why people like it, but I don't.
And no, I'm not some hooligan who only listen to Oasis and Kasabian.

Round Are Way used stream of consciousness lyrics to paint a picture of life in working class Manchester. Holy Mountain is the song version of Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch and screaming about Katie Holmes. There's no subtlety in that repetition. SHE FELL, SHE FELL, RIGHT UNDER MY SPELL SHE FELL, SHE FELL, RIGHT UNDER MY SPELL SHE FELL, SHE FELL, RIGHT UNDER MY SPELL SHE FELL, SHE FELL, RIGHT UNDER MY SPELL HAPPY HAPPY, JOY JOY HAPPY HAPPY, JOY JOY HAPPY HAPPY, JOY JOY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY JOOOOOY! Fair play, the lyrical content is better in Round Are Way. But I was comparing the composition of the two songs.... Holy Mountain is a cousin to Round Are Way. Don't compare that sack of SH1T to Round Are Way... RAW is fucking biblical in comparison.

Holy Mountain sits nicely alongside Stay Young, Round Are Way, The Fame, I Hope I Think I Know, Step Out, Some Might Say and I got The Fever. And deep down you know it to be true....

No, not having this. I understand why people like it, but I don't. And no, I'm not some hooligan who only listen to Oasis and Kasabian. You must be:- • Narrow of mind • In possession of judgement inferior to a paid critic • Unaccepting of change • A Liam avatar • Not ready for an experimental song that isn’t experimental • Not accepting of a joyous song that you expected and wanted to be experimental • In possession of a narrow mind that rejects changing your Liam avatar and experimenting with a more joyous Noel one that isn’t what you expected. Basically, anything will do other than the single being a weak offering.

Presactly. But when the same rejects like a future Noel offering their opinion will be considered of value. Man, it’s a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world.

Holy Mountain fans: Finally he's made a joyous pop song. I hated Oasis MK2 and his first two solo albums and I've just been hanging on for the past twenty years for him to write Some Might Say again.
Also Holy Mountain fans: If you don't love this song it's because you're afraid of change and you should move on with your life. Sad!

Promotion is a wonderful thing. At this point, I honestly don't know what numbers people expect. When the artist who released their song hasn't been heard from since the song was released, how well does any one expect said single to do? Also, as a reference, ITHOTM has been released for 2 years, and only has 2 mill. views.
