When I read comments like this on YouTube I wonder if people take Noel's lyrics too seriously sometimes: "she smelled like 1969? you were only born in 1967, you were two. she must have smelled like rusks and milk"  It's 'she smiles' actually. |

Seriously i just don't hear that Ricky Martin song on HM. Is it just because Noel sings she fell and he sings She bangs? Actually, this " She bangs" moment has a very specific and quite original rythmic pattern to it which is exactly the same in Noel's song. (However it sounds, i know, but it's true ). Saying that, it's not Noel's fault. The fucker who brought this up first is responsible. Most people, me included ,were lucky enough to never hear any of Ricky Martin's stuff, we could have live happily ever after, with zero worries, but no, She Bangs. Thanks. Well done. You're welcome. Better than anything on AYW which is a decent album but this song grows every listen, can’t imagine being bored of this one, and no doubt will sound ace Live.

Not sure if I think it's better than all of AYW but it's certainly catchy and a very good tune. It was weird at first, but now I'm fully used to it it's really stuck in my head. For AYW, the songs (or mainly, the hooks) from that album that have stuck with me so far have been: - Bold - Greedy Soul - Come Back To Me - It doesn't have to be that way - All I've Need - Universal Gleam Those, imo, are the six best tracks on AYW, and I reckon Holy Mountain is up there with all of them. |

I love As You Were and love Wall of Glass and Bold. I like Holy Mountain, but at same time I do understand why people don't like/hate this song. If you like this song, just enjoy and if you don't like this song, you don't have to listen to it. Comparing these 2 songs are non sense and will spreid Noel vs Liam/Liam vs Noel. Just enjoy what you like/love, but you don't have to convince or force others to like what they don't like. Respect each other's opinion. |

I hope you don't mind me posting this Rolo. This is way more enjoyable than the actual song for me, you have a very special talent! Prefer the chord progression on your version - something delicate about it and your vocals are better than Noels. Unbelievable! (don't forget the handclaps  ) Don't mind at all mate! Wow, thanks very much glider. I'm not a big fan of the song at all but it was fun to play and sing, would like to hear a Noel version of it acoustically to see how it works out. Haha for some reason after I rendered the video the handclaps were really high in the mix, they were meant to be a lot lower but oh well. Thanks again man. |

I can't help but feel like Noel is like the emperor with no clothes on with some of the positive reaction to HM, comparisons to BHN and DM just seem crazy...
I've been trying really hard to like this song but have given up due to the weakness of the vocal melodies and production...
The melody for me just seems really lazy and out of character from Noel, it's repetitive and shouty with nothing later on in the song to look forward to, a bit like the people you come across in life who are loud and shout alot to compensate for their lack of charisma...
I'm still rooting for him though due to the album clips we have heard which sound very interesting to me, i just hope Holmes has not had "too" much of an influence on the songs, it worried me a bit that he was rejecting most of Noel's melodies and hooks on the basis is sounds too much like him, yet that is the very thing that has defined him as the greatest songwriter of a generation...
I'm still excited for the album...

I know DM is deemed the Holy Grail, but it doesn't really do anything for me in general. WTS and BHN are far better albums. I actually prefer many of the B sides from DM rather than the tracks that appeared on the album itself. Half the World Away and Listen Up are both class - much better than most of the tracks off DM, as is Whatever - another great song. Now those tracks ARE better than HM. |

I think it all comes down to taste, especially since this track and all of AYW are so different. I prefer most of AYW to this song, and its all taste. I've always been the one to prefer the slower Gallagher ballad to the quicker energetic songs. There are exceptions such as Morning Glory, but I just am a sucker for the slower or even darker songs. Doesn't mean I'm a fan boy of either brother or doesn't mean I like the output of one and despise the other. The WBTM trailer sounds like it will be up my alley, so I'm very excited. |
