Holy Mountain is a superb song.
Really wasn't sure on it at first but I just think it's brilliant. The simplicity of it - now I've learned to play it (thanks to the thread on here) and the general thing of how different it is to anything Noel has done before.
It's incredibly catchy. Cheesy, perhaps, but it's done its job as a lead single imo.

Just heard it on the radio for the first time (not through choice). The DJ's immediate comments after it played were "Ricky Martin will be an even richer man when the royalties cheques are crossed." Woeful tune. Hahahahahahah. The dj really said that?

Just heard the song for the first time. Not digging it at all. I am NOT a fan of the "psychedelic" side of his sound so this will definitely be a grower on me.

for kasabian fans, thats true. oi Love them live. They're honestly superb if you're in the right mood (ahem) and the right age. The gig I went to at the King Power after Leicester won the league is by far the best musical event I've ever been to - including any NG/LG gigs. But, I have to say, I can't listen to their albums all the way through. Live they're top class, but their recent studio output is iffy. I like Kasabian as much as the next man, and im a Leicester City fan. But how they could even come close to topping anything by a Gallagher is beyond me. Each to their own of course

Ive been kind of undecided about this tune for the past couple of days but I'm now beginning to think it's cracking. If Sky start using this on their football covarage it'll start to seep into people's heads. It seems to get catchier and catchier the more you listen to it. It's the best opening single of his solo albums.

This + 1 its incredibly distracting..there’s no getting past it for me...bam...she bangs i have watched some of that YT Noel ‘plagiarist’ videos....he’s clever eg DLBIA has the same chord progression as Pachelbel’s Cannon...who would have thought it. But this reference is so jarring and...obvious on a separate note..I don’t see Noel’s having so much fun with this...either in the video or the live performance...it’s early days though granted I don't hear Ricky Martin in this song at all - it's just two words! I don't think that Noel ever heard this song tbh. And I'd rather listen to this type of songs than plodding-mid-tempo ones. I also think that he clearly has fun. But to each their own. PS I've seen a couple of ‘plagiarist’ videos. Are they made by a guy who hates Oasis? I don't remember correctly. I heard Ricky Martin loud and clear. RM is very popular in Australia. He was a judge on The Voice AU. Maybe he's not as well known in the UK?

Seriously i just don't hear that Ricky Martin song on HM.
Is it just because Noel sings she fell and he sings She bangs?

Seriously i just don't hear that Ricky Martin song on HM. Is it just because Noel sings she fell and he sings She bangs? Actually, this " She bangs" moment has a very specific and quite original rythmic pattern to it which is exactly the same in Noel's song. (However it sounds, i know, but it's true ). Saying that, it's not Noel's fault. The fucker who brought this up first is responsible. Most people, me included ,were lucky enough to never hear any of Ricky Martin's stuff, we could have live happily ever after, with zero worries, but no, She Bangs. Thanks. Well done.

Tried this song again today and I like it before the first chorus and then it just gets worse and worse and toooooo repetitive from that point. Could've been much better but it's just cheesy and not the good cheesy

I definitely hear the ‘she bangs’ comparisons, almost sounds like it could be a kasabian song too. Not entirely sure Noel’s voice suits the song as well. Saying that though, the song is catchy and I’m excited to hear what the rest of the album will sound like.

I hope you don't mind me posting this Rolo. This is way more enjoyable than the actual song for me, you have a very special talent! Prefer the chord progression on your version - something delicate about it and your vocals are better than Noels. Unbelievable! (don't forget the handclaps )

This reminds me of when McCartney released 'Coming Up' and 'Say Say Say'. A great musician who got sucked into the sappy pop scene. He eventually came back around but it took years.
This is Noel's 'Coming Up' period. I hope it doesn't take as long for him to come back to his senses.

I'm still not getting the references to this being 'pop'. It doesn't sound like pop at all. It just sounds ancient. Maybe pop in the 60's.

When I read comments like this on YouTube I wonder if people take Noel's lyrics too seriously sometimes: "she smelled like 1969? you were only born in 1967, you were two. she must have smelled like rusks and milk"
