I actually really like it now.
It’s due time Noel brought back the belting vocals from the Step Out/The Fame/Flashbax/SOTSOG Tour days. Hope that’s the way he will sing on tour.
I fell, I fell, right under Noel’s spell.

I gave it a few more spins just now, I don't mind it but a little indifferent about it. I can certainly see why some like it and why others don't. What makes me laugh is I'm pretty sure a few who are praising the balls off it have hammered stuff sounding retro before. Is it different for Noel? Maybe a little but this doesn't sound like Be Here Now it sounds like a tune being played in a 60's dance hall with people jiving to it! I don't mind a bit of retro stuff so no problems here. Every time I here the vocal on the verses I can't get C'est La Vie by the Stereophonics out of my head . I probably prefer that though. Agreed. This particular song doesn't sound like a huge polarizing departure from Noel's usual sound. I definitely expected a little more experimental on the electronic side with more loops/samples. Especially when hearing the songs in the trailer video. I think this is Noel playing it safe with his first single. I bet Beautiful World sounds a little more edgy (for Noel).

For all the people complaining about how loud Holy Mountain is, it's far less of a headache to my ears than either HFB or Chasing Yesterday. You’re like St Peter at the gates of heaven, trying to convince the newly passed over that God’s farts don’t stink. That's gotta be by far the weirdest insult? Compliment? Backhanded jab? Something in between? I don't know what to make of this, honestly!

If Liam had released anything this bad he'd be crucified. Terrible. Awful. Rubbish.

If Liam had released anything this bad he'd be crucified. Terrible. Awful. Rubbish. He was crucified many times while in Beady Eye but he’s been reborn. And none of it was near as bad as this astonishingly bad effort. Rolling Stone lauded this track. Imagine the scorn that would the media would have had with a Liam song. Noel once asked "how many dicks does Radiohead have to suck" to get such positive press. I think he has been pretty busy recently.

Creating ridiculous pieces of self indulgent music and receiving critical acclaim for such efforts.

My opinion on Radiohead is that post Kid A they jumped the shark. Creating ridiculous pieces of self indulgent music and receiving critical acclaim for such efforts. Word. To be honest I think there's a lot of worthwhile stuff on their post-Kid A albums; Amnesiac, In Rainbows and A Moon Shaped Pool all have some really good tracks on there and there's some good music on Hail To The Thief as well (less said about King of Limbs the better). Radiohead seem to get a lot of hate on this forum and I think it's because people wish Oasis enjoyed as much critical acclaim as they managed. Both are great but they're very different musically and basically always have been.

It's... okay? I don't hate it but It's weird that there's so much going on yet I find it so boring. Like it's throwing everything out there but not really nailing any of it.

I've really tried to get into them in the past and haven't genuinely disliked their music. I may have been listening to the wrong songs though.

I keep listening to it, and it keeps making me happy. It's the Beach Boys, the Ramones, and even Plastic Bertrand rolled into one.
While Chasing Yesterday was a fine record, it also felt a bit tired. Like Noel was going through the motions because what the hell, it was album time. If this is what he needs to reenergize himself, I'm all for it.
I like it less than Liam's stuff, but it's still a cracker.

I understand the BHN comparisons from a wall of sound perspective and from an upbeat perspective. The rest I don't agree with. BHN was "happy", but it was more arrogant. It was rougher and more powerful. This is just pure joy and 0 arrogance.
The Round Are Way comparison I can see a little more but still... I find this pretty unique in a Gallagher sense. Actually... The closest thing I would compare it to Gallagher wise is... Bring the Light.... I know that will sound negative and make some stomachs churn. But honestly its energy, joy and pace make them far similar than anything Oasis did.
