I hope now there's new music out that Noel will start playing the new tunes live ASAP. His set list is now so old it's f**king haunted.

What's up with the production? It's a mess and sounds like a bunch of noise in my car

Now am I correct in saying that David Holmes is considered a Super Producer? If so then why does this sound so fucking muffled? I mean listen to this in your head phones and the follow it immediately with ‘Come Back To Me’ from As You Were, the difference is stark!!
This is not a Liam V Noel thing, I’m not into all that noise! It’s a quality issue and I’m very confused, Noel did a great job on CY so we know he knows the standards, my question is how has this been allowed to happen? Is a consious creative dicision that’s been taken to age the sound to match the sample that Noel referred to in the interview as sketchy or is it a poor effort on Noel and Holmes part?
If it’s the latter then that really surprises me.
I know some of you guys or far more qualified than I am regarding such matters and I’d love to hear opinions of people in the know because I think this could have been a much more “joyous” listen if it was cleaner and more audible, I feel like I’m listening to it with cotton wool in my ears.

This should've gotten old after 100 listens. It still hasn't.

I created a thread similar to this. The songs starts really loud and when the horns kick in there's like a little bit of distortion because everything is really loud. I played it in my car and it sounds unpleasant. What were they thinking and did they even listen to the results.

Agreed! Love the tune but the mix is terrible! I was listening to the new song and then the Song Remains the Same came on immediately afterwards on spotify - the quality of the mix and sound is so superior on CY. It was like a modern professional recording vs a demo... WTF?!?! Still enjoy the song...

It's weird we haven't got a Youtube video (even audio only) for it. Makes me think there's more to come in a short span of time. The audio only clip was on youtube yesterday morning right after it was aired on BBC radio, but shortly after it got deleted as always. Anyway, people who pre-ordered the album via official store received the mp3 code for this song via email and their account on official store.

The only problem I have with this song is Noel's vocal.

The only problem I have with this song is Noel's vocal. That's probably my biggest problem with it as well.

Noel has a bad voice? No way! I didn't say that I don't like his voice at all. I don't like his delivery only on couple of tracks... And his vocal on FoN and MF is much worse in my opinion.

Dont get me wrong, I hate this "Liam or Noel side". Im always looking forward to listen to the Gallaghers songs, but this time I really dont like this single. Maybe it will be a grower, but for now I dont think so Maybe you should try listening to it all the way through? :/ Ok, I really tried to like it yesterday. I was listening to it like 7 times. I can understand what you might like about this song, I started to like the verses and the beginning of the song to be honest, I really gave it a second try. The only problem is that this shitty Ricky Martin chorus is unforgetable for me :/. It's the worst Gallagher's related melody ever in my opinion.

I don't think he has a bad voice at all. He has quite a bit of range and it's not a weak voice either (see Everybody's On The Run). I just don't like the way he sings on this. Same goes for a song like Mucky Fingers, like the poster above also mentioned. It doesn't fit his voice.

Sometimes his vocal makes me think of Tom Smith from Editors a little bit. edit: or The Vaccines. Never listened to the Vaccines before. Thank you!

I know everyone hate that song on here, but She Must Be One Of Us with that production would have been sick. Unconsciously, Noel has rewritten it in Holy Mountain.

It's the video for the Black Keys Lonely Boy Yeah I know, just thought it was quite funny. Always loved that video. Can imagine a few on here dancing along to it like that. Must say, day 2, it sounds worse to me. I really want to like it but just can't.

I'm genuinely puzzled that such a catchy little tune could generate such negative response. I spent all day listening to it and I'm gonna have to keep myself from overplaying it until the album gets released.
Anyway, for those who claim to be worried about the album after listening to this, here's a thought: take a look at the last two albums. You see a pattern emerging? Both of them begin with a "big" song and have a catchy, lightweight tune as the second track. It looks like it might be the same with Who Built the Moon.
I love Dream On and In the Heat of the Moment, but there's no denying they don't carry the same weight as Everybody's on the Run and Riverman. That's why I wouldn't worry too much even if I thought Holy Mountain was shit. The last two records are pretty eclectic anyway. Think of Holy Mountain as a palate cleanser between Fort Knox (which has the potential to be massive from what we've heard) and the other tracks.
