That and Wonderwall. Shocked that nobody had written the latter yet. Yeah, Wonderwall is amazing. Heard it yesterday being played on the radio while I was in a grocery, and it blew me away again. Timeless pop song.

Finally listening to this in lossless and I can hear the bass and brass more clearly. Oh, and there's Weller's organ! Was looking for ya! If it is who i think it is, where did he go? He was here non-stop until august and vanished into thin air (again if i think it is who it is).

Timeless pop song. For whatever stupid reason I've only heard Wonderwall on the radio once in my life. And that was long before I became an Oasis fan! On the other hand, I've heard Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before, Girlfriend in a Coma, Suedehead, and How Soon Is Now (multiple times!) on the radio in the States. The Smiths seem to have a much larger following in the U.S. than Oasis, which is completely opposite to what you'd think! Nearly everyone I know is familiar with Asleep (thanks to The Perks of Being a Wallflower), and I've met two hardcore Smiths fans, one of whom even asked me out based solely that I was a fellow Morrissey/Marr fan (!), yet I've only met one casual fan of Oasis. Everyone here knows Wonderwall though.

Do people reckon that the guitar scratch at the beginning of Holy Mountain is the last bit of Fort Knox? It wouldn't surprise me at all if the two songs crossfaded into each other.

It actually sounds like a mix between Mucky Fingers / She Must Be One of Us / The Mexican. Not a great mix, indeed. I was hearing the Mucky Fingers/She Must Be One of Us comparisons while listening. Partially explains my dislike of it.

If it does turn out that most of Noel's fans hate Who Built the Moon and, as a result, it's a massive flop, he'll only have himself to blame. His decades of releasing dad rock means that people more resistant to experimental music have filled his loyal fanbase, and most of the fans who would appreciate something more daring would've run away years ago. This is what you get when you build up a reputation as a backwards "rock 'n' roller"! I can appreciate experimenting. I do not think this is a good song. It's almost unlistenable to me. I was looking for a more dynamic sound, and got this instead. There's nothing wrong with not liking Holy Mountain. I do understand that people looking for something more experimental, abstract, and "out there" would be disappointed. This is a pure pop song, like it or not. But everything else indicates that the rest of Who Built the Moon will be more daring and radical. Let's hope so!

It's really funny that I only come on these boards from time to time and yet somehow it's always the same people bitching about the same things... boggles me giblets Spot on. I find it amazing people take time out of their lives to come on here to just be negative. A lot of people on here pick between Liam/Noel for some bizarre reason, and that’s their narrative. Sad. I love almost everything that Noel has ever released, but I'm not gonna be forced to like something just because it was released by someone. Same thing with Liam.

It's worth noting that the sample of Chewing Gum Kid is an interpolation, i.e. the flute riff from Chewing Gum Kid was re-recorded for Noel to use in Holy Mountain. If you look in the credits you can see that a fellow named Martin Slattery was the one who replayed that riff on the tin whistle!

Downloaded a 320kb/s of this - the mix is a mess, no? Everything isolated to the center channel for the most part, and the mastering just makes it worse.

Let's forget about the quality of this song. Noel gave us this album cover Name of the album is Who Built The Moon? Than we heard this Then we found out that first single is called Holy Mountain. HOLY FUCKING MOUNTAIN!And that this is cover art for that song I was expecting 2 minutes long intro that is big fucking spiritual experience and and at least 2 minutes long guitar solo that is played on guitar that has strings made from nose hair of holy rabbit who lives in North India and you can only see him outside once in 7 years. And then we got this. I love the artwork. Especially after what we got for Chasing Yesterday.

I'm all for trying something different/new, but I'm just not feeling this song at all. Noel's voice doesn't suit this style; it's grating. I also can't help but think of She Bangs in the chorus. I've little desire to listen to it again.

The master lacks any dynamics whatsoever. The FLAC version is a huge improvement though, you can hear the bass and brass a lot better. Then again, I don't expect audiophile sound quality from anything Gallagher. That's why we have groups like Lambchop who actually give a damn about how their records sound. Though that doesn't change anything about how much I enjoy the song.

It's weird we haven't got a Youtube video (even audio only) for it. Makes me think there's more to come in a short span of time.

Looks like a mugshot he got after getting caught wanking in the park. Absolutely terrible.
