I'm just gonna say this- cause this song is hugely disappointing to me. Cannot even listen to it a 4th time. People thought Tiger Woods' swing was screwed up. they tried to fix it. There was nothing wrong with it. Big artists now- from Foo Fighters to Arcade Fire to Noel- maybe all think there is something wrong with their swing. They know rock has tanked in the charts - so they're reaching out- trying something different- with mixed- or flat out bad results. Liam meanwhile- with the benefit of being true to himself- and the luck of timing a comeback album that could be nothing other than a 'rock-pop' work- comes up with damn near one of the best albums of the year. Sales are proving it- press and fans are supporting it. It's genuinely good. I don't know what the rest of Noel's album will sound like. But i'm apprehensive now. When artists get told by producers- 'yeah you're great at that- don't do that- do something else'...like build a song from a sampled tin f-ing whistle that was a quirky hit in 1970-something?...then yeah i get nervous- and disappointed like last night and today. i really tried to like this song- to objectively see the merits- but i can't. Production sucks too. Makes me wonder what fucking kool-aid these people are drinking at the time. NG saying he will go to his grave loving this song is ever more of a puzzlement. But I'm glad his wife and kids like it. I'll be skipping it from here on out- embarrassingly. Fortunately I cannot say that about most of his other work - which I love with a passion.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand this "being true to himself" thing. What makes you think Noel's not being true to himself? He sounds absolutely happy in this tune. I love its passion and the energy coming from his voice – and yes, I agree to an extent that his voice doesn't suit the song 100%, which in my opinion makes it even more impressive. He's doing it because he likes it.
If "being true to himself" means to be safe, dad pop rock, then that is something I entirely disagree with. And IMO As You Were isn't even the best pop rock album of the year. Wolf Alice and Alvvays, to name a couple, say hi.

Doesn't Noel usually do well on the UK iTunes chart when he releases new music? I can't remember how the CY singles did. No sign of it on the iTunes US chart unfortunately. This single may well be popular in UK - but i don't think it'll do shit in the US charts. of course it won't Gallagher-stuff will always do well in the UK. They both gave up on America a while ago in terms of cracking a 'new' audience.

Its better read as "they're not being true to what I want them to be". It only really seems relevant when someone is obviously making music the have been pressed in to making.

New here but had to ask, am I the only one who thinks this sounds massively like TRex 20th century boy? After a couple of listens it actually sounds more classic Noel than I thought. It's going to be a blast live. We're going to the Vegas show and the ballroom has a floor on springs, can't wait for this one there

I loved Riverman and whatever other 'space-jazz' type of indulgences he's gone off on up until now...so it's not that. it's not 'what the mighty I' wants him to be- to borrow that phrase. it's more that...for starters...when the vocals kick in at :09 - i have no f-ing idea who is singing this song. it's that whacked out in my mind- so un-recognizable as to actually not sound good- to my ear, yes. And I listen to a lot of music- and all kinds. The vocals continue in a droning pattern...then comes the ricky martin thing- then comes some french sounding influence (i don't even know from like a volkswagen commercial in the US) doin the beach boys. it's just how it sounds to me. different strokes... my relatives in northern ireland probably love it. it'll probably be played at many weddings this weekend in UK. for what it's worth - on the new wolf alice- i liked Heavenward...but hated Yuk Foo. So yeah - i guess I'm more of a traditionalist. I like melody above all. and to me- Noel Gallagher has written some of the best of all time. So go on- be true to yourself- but just don't expect everyone will like it. And he has said that he doesn't expect it will do well. But i can tell you- at this point I'm more interested in hearing some of the cuts from the album he and David Holmes shelved for this. But hey- it's just the first single- so who knows. others have had the same reaction upon hearing it for the first time... "Wow." wow indeed.

This song is so cool.

Don't like.
It's not the kind of music I like.
I have lost the interest for the album right now...
I'm not stating that it's a bad song, just not for me, I love Noel for DLBIA, IIHAG or WTSRTS, but not this.

Wall of Glass and Holy Mountain are the happiest, most joyous sounding songs to come from the Gallagher brothers since maybe Songbird or Lyla. Both songs have lifted my spirits numerous times and I'm happy that their music is bright sounding right now

Plus Noel can't pick singles. PS I think Noel should experiment more. If I wanna 'a classic Gallagher' album - I'll listen to AYW.

I just can't believe how badly mastered it is.
I noticed it with the preview tracks but i thought it might have been the sound quality.

give me depressed Gallaghers! lol I'm pretty sure 2015 was a kinda depressive year for Liam (I don't wanna see depressive Liam God bless him) and we have enough melancolic Noel songs already.

On a different note, the question of the week at my local library is "what is your favorite song of the 90's?" Can anyone guess what I wrote down? Live Forever ? That and Wonderwall. Shocked that nobody had written the latter yet.

Oh my God.
I've just had a chance to listen to it for the first time.
Absoute fucking dogshit.
Has Noel slipped and suffered a brain injury since Chasing Yesterday came out?

Good song and nice to see Noel trying new stuffs, but it's a terrible choice for a first single.

If it does turn out that most of Noel's fans hate Who Built the Moon and, as a result, it's a massive flop, he'll only have himself to blame. His decades of releasing dad rock means that people more resistant to experimental music have filled his loyal fanbase, and most of the fans who would appreciate something more daring would've run away years ago. This is what you get when you build up a reputation as a backwards "rock 'n' roller"! I can appreciate experimenting. I do not think this is a good song. It's almost unlistenable to me. I was looking for a more dynamic sound, and got this instead.

Finally listening to this in lossless and I can hear the bass and brass more clearly. Oh, and there's Weller's organ! Was looking for ya!
