Kurstin is a bit more than that, he's had his own projects like the Bird and the Bee and has produced the Foo Fighters' new record. I don't really see it as much different to Noel using Holmes. If Kurstin had been the record's producer, that would be another story. I'm talking about the difference between The Beatles being produced by George Martin and The Beatles doing songs like "How Do You Do It" to score a #1. There's an undeniable difference there. Depends if you think Liam is Elvis or The Beatles! (Is he a bit of both?)

honestly, whoever believes, that this is shite, and at the same time believes, that liam's album is a 7, 8, 9 or 10/10, is a bloody retard. at least noel's single has a bit of an interesting vibe to it and not the same, boring old bullshit, that we've been getting for the last 15 years. you see, I don't get this either. I wanted Liam to come back strong and he very-much has. He's good at what he does - straight up rock n roll and being a bloody brilliant frontman - still the best around imo. But, Noel is in a different place. And I'm glad we've now got As You Were and Noel's new, completely different stuff. It strikes a good balance. But, with both albums coming out within months of each other, it was always going to be this way. I don’t think that Holy Mountain is that much different to the ‘boring old shit in the last 15 years’. HM isn’t really a leap forward- I actually think it’s quite samey I’ve earned on the 3rd listen and still confident I’ll enjoy the album

It's OK if you don't like the song - at least some people explained why they don't like it instead of writing about how 'shite' it is.

You guys write too much I've wasted my lunch break reading half of the pages you've written in the last 15 hours. Why are you wasting your time reading all the posts, it's not like you're a moderator or anything ;-)

I don't think it's experimental, but it's certainly not something that fits with what you'd think of as a 'staple' Noel Gallagher song. Structure-wise, it stays the same, and I think the point of it being a lead single is to get the 'catchy' one out there. There's no denying the song is catchy.

Wow. A video created by our beloved bastardnumber1 (hello there, we know you're reading!) and uploaded to Youtube by one of the admins of Oasismania (who are strangely crediting somebody this time, that's nice to see). There's so much wrong about this clip

Funnily enough I think Doesn't Have To Be That Way was more successful in achieving a dancey uplifting tune than this.

Noel has earned the right to break out of the Oasis formula, he's also earned the right and really is due to have a dud single sooner or later. Liam simply can't and won't and that's ok too. Hopefully the song changes within the scope of the album. As Oasis fans we get the best of both if we want it.

Just heard it. Sounds like The Vaccines Thank god that Noel is not an anti-vaccer.

It’s step out meets mucky fingers! Made a little more like dance. But hey it’s Noel and i wouldn’t want complete unfamiliarity!! I can’t stand the use of doldrums- it’s like he was desperate to reuse that word! It is catchy to be fair..and my initial “this is tripe” is a bit harsh, now it’s more familiar. I think this was chosen to ease people into the album...but I just hope this is my least favourite track on it (just like DOYAM was)

Cigalc is bastard indeed. I've seen his twitter as well - it's full of Liam's photos.

Having had more listens now I stick to the feeling I had earlier today. It's not a new sound, it's a classical Noel B-side in the likes of the Good Rebel etc., bad single choice compared to what we have heard in the preview clip, but Holy Mountain is the most radio friendly of all the 4 songs we had glimpses at so far, so choice might make sense.

It irks me how people still post their tweets and whatnot here after they told us to screw off basically. Also, are we 100% that Carlo guy is bastard? Your detective skills are among the best here but I still am uncertain 100%

Cigalc is bastard indeed. I've seen his twitter as well - it's full of Liam's photos. His ability to conjure up a fake story about interviewing Liam and being his little personal insider is one of the most disturbing Oasis fan-related things ever.

This is probably the less Oasis sound I've heard from Noel ever. People said The Right Stuff was a different direction from him but at least the instrumentation part reminded a bit to SOTSOG.
But this is... different. I don't even know what to think about it yet. It's quite repetitive and although I suspect that was the intention it didn't bring me any joy or something like that. I'll probably like it more in the next weeks but right now it's just an ok song I guess. Is the kind of song Kasabian would get heavily criticized for.
But I don't want to sound negative, it kind of made me excited for the rest of the album. It seems he really pushed himself to do something different this time and I'm sure there will be some amazing songs on the album.

See this has turned into a Noel/Liam thing...... fact is Liam can’t write a whole album and most it seems think the Liam written tracks on AYW are the weaker tracks. He had help, a lot of it & without people writing his songs he wouldn’t have an album. Move on. As a few have pointed out, the most vocal negative ones on this thread are people with Liam/Oasis profile pics. Come on guys get a grip, end of day no matter how bad you may think it is, it’s better than I Get By : ) Cheer up Liam fans. Embarrassing post

Some constructive feedback huh? For the record - I like AYW, not a hater.

Fuck you all for introducing me to Ricky Martin. I dind't know who Ricky Martin was untill a couple of hours ago. You are never too old to learn new things, I would say. Seriously it's a song, one song, just a new single of Noel. One like it, other doesn't. No need to start a drama. I'm fine with other opinions. Please keep this place clean people. Thanks for your collaboration. Cheers.

I don't know if this had been brought up already, but that cover looks like a Tangerine Dream reference to me.
