His camp has neither confirmed nor denied, which means that it's probably true. They're probably waiting for family and friends to pay last respects before officially announcing. |

That's awful. I mean, I can't say I was a huge Tom Petty fan, but he was a great musician and one of the big ones. 66 is also quite young...such a shame for the music world. |

Can't say I heard more than the hits but those songs are pure brilliance anyway. My dad will be sad for sure.

Bloody hell, shocking and sad news. Not a huge fan but very familiar with many of his excellent tunes, including his work with The Travelling Wilburys.
I have to think back to the first song of his song I ever heard - courtesy of GTA San Andreas from many many years ago! Can't forget racing down Mount Chiliad in a tank being chased by a hordes of police cars and helicopters with this blaring out on the radio!

Man, I'm so sad right now. I can't say I was very deep into his music (I was still discovering his back catalogue) but I loved a lot of stuff he did with The Heartbreakers. And I totally adore his signature Rickenbacker 12 string/jangly guitar sound.
