I'm feeling the excitement across the board here and it's awesome, but is it me or is no one talking about the fact that amazon lists 2 discs... I'm not saying this is a double album, but I am super jazzed about the prospect of these songs having time lengths longer than 5 minutes. Bonus tracks/b-sides/remixes?

I think it's just the LP version isn't it, which would have two sides anyway?

Anyone else slightly disappointed we're only getting 8 new songs...3 instrumentals seem excessive and, frankly, don't do much for me. But I guess this is Noel's "experimental" album, so who am I to complain...

But I guess this is Noel's "experimental" album, so who am I to complain... Well there is an excellent 8 song record out this year, which is Foxygen's Hang. At first i was a bit disappointed, seemed very short, but in fact, it has to be taken as a big piece of music. So Noel's new record could probably be in the same vein: one long piece of music, with different segment and songs, all mixed into another. He's wanted to do that for years, because he doesn't like people making their own playlists. And it seems like we are getting it.

If the instrumentals are anything like the above I'll be happy.

A bit of googling led me to this: link 1 , link 2 , link 3Nothing groundbreaking, but it looks like It's a Beautiful World might get played on Monday, Weller and Marr are on the album as we already knew from the pictures on David Holmes' Facebook page, and the "French psychedelic pop" reference sounds interesting. Links keep redirecting me back to this thread

What's up with those anon posts that are joking Liam's album? A random user? Absolutely no idea, but maybe that user knows something about the album.

I don't get how an instrumental is not an "actual song". Does anyone on this forum actually consider The Swamp Song or Fuckin' in the Bushes not "actual songs" because they don't feature vocals? Just because it doesn't feature vocals doesn't automatically mean that it's an interlude or album filler. An instrumental can be just as melodic or memorable as a song with vocals. If an instrumental comes across as slight, that's because it was either written to be slight or it's not a very good song. Just like any song with vocals. Not because it is an instrumental.

I reckon the other two aren't instrumentals, but if they are it's no problem for me.

Indeed, sounds like some people would rather have Dream on on an album than fucking in the bushes just because it's got vocals. It really is very intriguing, and there's no guarantee the interludes are instrumentals. Perhaps we should enjoy these last days of mystery before Monday...
