On first couple of listens I could understand the train of though where people are saying it could get bigger and it is a little one paced etc then I took a break, waited for it to fall seemlessly into my playlist after midnight as it was prepaid and wow it’s perfect. It is the lack of “the kitchen sink” treatment where in lies it’s genius, it could get big, could have the strings and the 50 man choir but that would do the song an injustice for me. There is a lovely constant driving, pulsating, flloyd like heartbeat running through the heart of this track with so many subtle little nuisances that it just keeps getting better. Love it. I think this album requires a good system or headphones to do it justice too and things will be missed or under appreciated without. Agreed, this album is turning out to be very interesting and deep sonically so far. A lot more flavorful than his first album I think.

I mean we already knew the chorus had a vocal treatment on it. We heard it during the WBTM trailer. No surprise.

First 3 minutes are amazing but after that french bridge it drags on for too long. If it was 3 minutes long I'd genuinely give it a 10

This has nothing on Come Back To Me, but I suppose it'll appeal to the select few. I really like Come Back To Me, but I personally feel IABW is on a different level. It's fair to say that people have now made sweeping judgements on Noel's new stuff, and will just refute it. AYW is a very good album with some brilliant moments. I've got a feeling WBTM will be a step above. That's not to belittle what Liam has done or is doing. It's great. But I'm not gonna lie and say i'm not glad big brother is back.

Where's our guitar heroes? I need chords for this (and Dead in the Water!) This is what I'm getting for the Dead In The Water clips - corrections most welcome Just realised after posting that the placement of the chords above the lyrics are out of whack - just hit Quote on the post to see it properly Done on capo 3 clip 1 Single strum on Em Cadd9 Em D but I'm sure the night is slipping through my hands Cadd9 Em D i fall into the sea like the ? on the sand clip 2 Cadd9 Let the storm rage G I die on the waves Em D Cadd9 G But I will not rest while the love lies dead in the water Em D Cadd9 G Dead in the water....in the water Em D (single strum) Cadd9 (single strum) Dead in the water Em, Cadd9, G, D... Yep. It's Noel alright. Thanks for that mate! I was thinking it might be Em7 at points as well based on the brief clips we've had. Suppose that's interchangeable.

Production sounds a little cluttered but might work ok in the context of the album. A good song though. Respect to Noel for stepping out of his dad-rock bubble and attempting something a bit more leftfield

That beat is just brilliant. So menacing. But at the same time kind of hypnotic and gentle. Really great song. Agree with some that it seems to lack 'something' in the back half. Maybe just a solo etc to spruce it up a bit. But overall really impressive.

I actually like the fact it never takes off completely, sometimes I enjoy this kind of songs Yeah, I think it's too dark a song to have an epic ending. I think all these songs will make a lot more sense in the context of the album, too.

I actually like the fact it never takes off completely, sometimes I enjoy this kind of songs Songs don't need to "take off" to stay interesting though. I'm glad there's no strings and solo's and whatnot like people are suggesting, i think that would make it worse and it would be lazy. You can do it in a very subtle way by bringing in different harmonic elements, it doesn't even need to be up front. It can be in the form of a percussion too. Almost a subconscious thing where it doesn't catch your ear but you would know if it's not there, that kind of thing. A lot of the bands in TheEscapists sig are masters of that. Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros.. That's where i think the song is lacking, there's none of that. It just seems to get stale with a couple of minute to go in my opinion. In that sense, i find the detail in the arrangement a bit lacking and half finished.

Love the verses, the chorus is dull - just when you think it's going to take the song to another level. Shame.

I'll not overanalyze it. I like it better than Holy Mountain but overall in the record i think it will be in my low-tier of songs. It's not shit but it's not amazing either. I like the production, unlike many people here.
