After one listen....I had my lighter lit and up in the air swaying back and forth......I like it...yes it's pretty heavily influenced .....yes it's very commercial....it's got a nice melodic arc...it's sentimental.....I'm feeling all the feels......he's gonna have to sing over a loud backing track if it's going in the set list but hey...good work LG

Anyone expecting a Live Forever due to "hype" was just doing themselves a dis-service.
Anyone expecting a rocker shouldn't have from all the clues we had.
It is very safe, but nothing wrong with safe. I like it a lot, how it will stand up down the road, not sure.
So far, I think the help Liam got on this album has been worth it. Maybe its safe and poppy, but we complain that Liam has been too capable of too many "Man of Misery" types. For every decent to good song that would come out, there would be a stinker, and this is coming from someone who quite likes Beady Eye.
So far it doesn't seem like we have any legit stinkers (though waiting for studio versions), and if it turns out that the album is full of decent to great range of songs, we should be very happy.

I really like the lyrics on this one, though. Quite touching. No yoga references.

Reminds me a lot of Don't Go Away, i think it's the best Liam has sounded on a track in many years, i'm actually a fan of all 3 tunes so far including majority of his live ones so i'm too excited for this album

Liam's just posted a 30s preview of FWIW on his facebook and volume is alright. It's probably due to Spotify encoding then. Thank god.

It's not exactly what I was expecting, I think I was expecting something more upbeat and faster than Chinatown . I'm not sure if I like it as much of Wall of glass but I do like it. I'm going to listen to it when I'm not exhausted before I make any more opinions.

It's a nice song, pretty good and some nice melodies. I wouldn't say it's a GREAT song at all, but it's a very solid track and well written.
First line melody and chord progression sounds like "How Do You Sleep?" By Lennon "So sgt. Pepper took you by surprise.."

I think the kick ass verses make up for the weaker chorus. Same can be said for the "Ballad of the Mighty I" for example. Totally agree with this. Now I’m a hugeeee Liam fan and couldn’t wait to hear it this morning. Driving to Coventry for work and it’s my birthday ! Anyway love the verses but the chorus I felt was weak. Then again it’s the first listen. Would have loved some piano or violin in it ! Did sound very professional though but didn’t blow me away like wall of glass. Still a 1000 times better than any beady eye ‘slowie’

Second listen, good song but absolutely not great imo. I think the OTT people will go mad but will say it's not that great in a week or two. Disappointing after all the hype, but not a bad song by any means. Agree. Forgettable song with below-average vocals. I'm really disappointed. You're a joke. A bad one, I should add.

I think the chorus sounds great, yeah it's a very Beatlesesque melody but it's the best version of one from LG for years. Personally I love it and I think he sounds fucking great.
EDIT : I love the guitar work here, understated but absolutely great.

The first line is almost a direct rip from "How Do You Sleep?" by Lennon, in terms of melody and chords. "So Sgt. Pepper took you by surprise"

It annoys me so much how a significant portion of the reactions to new music on here doesn't actually revolve around the art but instead is just people saying how they knew who would and wouldn't like it as if opinions aren't...y'know...a thing, and as if anyone gives a shit.
Anyway, my very first reactions are...
PROS: - Melody is quite nice, especially in the verses. Don't think the chorus is that great but it does it's job. - Lyrics are really intimate, it's nice to have a song from Liam that actually means something. - Structure is concise, don't think it's repetitive at all. Does it's thing and leaves. - Liam sounds really good, and vulnerable enough to make it work.
CONS: - Arrangement is pretty cliched, kinda...well...beige. Sounds a little too Ashcroft / Williams for me. - Production isn't bad but it is a bit retro. Some bits sound great and it's clearer than Wall of Glass, but I would like the strings to be less soupy and the drums to be a bit heavier. Also...GIVE ME MORE BASS. Love those tortured guitars in the second set of verses, though. - It's just a bit generic on the whole. Nothing particularly wrong with it but I can't see it being a tune I return to much in the years to come.

To the people calling it weak, please compare it to tracks 8-11 of DOYS!
Add to that the best Liam vocal since at least SOTSOG.
Strong 8/10 after a few listens.

Nothing particularly wrong with it but I can't see it being a tune I return to much in the years to come. My thoughts more or less. Again, it all depends what people were expecting of this record. I was hoping for something a bit more raw, low key, that maybe we will find in the rest of the record. This song is well written, not doubt about it, and the lyrics, if written by Liam, are among the best he's done ever. It's a step up from Wall of Glass. It'll be an enjoyable record, like the Beady Eye ones, no more no less, and that's ok to me. I'm not expecting much from Liam, much more from Noel's record though.

Loving it on first listen. Beady Eye tried to do that song about five times, and it never got anywhere this good.
