I enjoyed it, it's a nice song. Probably gonna do well on the radio, all though I think I enjoyed Wall of Glass more on the first listen. Chorus could've been a bit stronger, and it's a bit "safe" sounding. The verses are the strongest part. I liked that lyric "I've been crucified for just being alive". It actually followed nicely after Mr.Blue Sky in terms of style, so they have clearly gone for a traditional/classic production on it. Like other people has said, it's gonna be hard to sing live. But then again he has managed to do Wall of Glass live pretty good, so he might surprise us. That episode of Colbert is gonna be exciting to watch.
Oh, and f you Chris Evans and your festival of quills.

Second listen, good song but absolutely not great imo. I think the OTT people will go mad but will say it's not that great in a week or two. Disappointing after all the hype, but not a bad song by any means. Agree. Forgettable song with below-average vocals. I'm really disappointed.

Say what you want about the song, but those aren't below average vocals. Those vocals shit on anything from DBTT.

Any one who mentions hype in there response should really realise they are responsible for how much hype they take to heart.

Let me be the first voice of dissent: I was really looking forward to this one given the comments from journalists and I'm absolutely let down. This is to pop balladry what Wall of Glass was to rock: it's generic, calculated, safe, soulless and repetitive. The best things I can say about it are that it's got Liam on vocals and that I liked the ELO-like middle 8 (but it's all too brief). Let's not kid ourselves: this tune could have been given to another artist (Robbie Williams anyone?) and we wouldn't be discussing it. I really hope it will grow on me and I'll have to eat my words, but for now I have the hunch it won't happen. Thank you for the voice of reason here. Very formulaic song, sounds like it was written by a computer programmed to produce the most obvious and cheap melody hooks and patterns. If it's THE big song on the album, then the A&R department from Warner Bros really did fuck up.

Just because he has an opinion you agree with doesn't make him the voice of reason any more than it does of those of another opinion. Liking this song doesn't make you a victim of fandom.

He can't win with some of you ,analysing whether he can play it live?analysing if it's auto tuned ,picking up on one word or a line ,crazy..it's a great track and obviously a message he wants to get out there. This is what oasis and liam are known for worldwide pop/rock Melody and this is a great track for his first worldwide release .Becoming far too critical of everything just enjoy the music and embrace we still have the music

Liam is saying sorry to Noel, reunion is just around the corner 😂
Find it a bit boring, but have only listened to it on my phone. Hope it will grow...

REALLY good song. Need a few more listens to proper judge, of course. Good lyrics, great vocals, and a pretty catchy melody. Chorus is instant. I don't like the amount of autotune on it though.
One thing I noticed and it's bugging me is how low its volume is. Listen to Wall Of Glass and FWIW back-to-back on Spotify and you'll see. Hopefully it's fixed on the album, although I doubt it. Blame the mastering...

I think the kick ass verses make up for the weaker chorus. Same can be said for the "Ballad of the Mighty I" for example.

Before anyone starts pointing fingers at me, let me remind people that I was one of the first who reacted positively to Chinatown and I stand by my opinion that, for all its quirkiness, it's a good song with more substance than FWIW.

The mixing seems a little weird, the strings seem to pop up now and again for a second and then just get back behind the guitars. Same with the bass. It's clearer than Wall of Glass, though, and definitely a better song than Chinatown.

At least it's not as over compressed as Wall of Glass Warner ticked all the boxes with the other people's tunes, now let's wait for the actual record, eg Liam's tunes.

Am I the only one that think this is a great song? à It's a great song. Some of the responses on here, on both sides, were so predicable it was actually funny. Getting a very good reception on twitter, good to see.
