Let's wait and see about the live version. I think he'll pull it off, he wants it so much more this time around. It's not 2008 when he didn't give a fuck. I have every confidence in the lad.

When was the last time Liam used this vocal range? I'm Outta Time?

When was the last time Liam used this vocal range? I'm Outta Time? I'm Outta Time did have a couple of high notes but the whole of this chorus seems to be bloody difficult to sing.

My initial thoughts
He'll never hit the chorus live Auto-tune in the chorus? I like the DLBIA build up to the chorus Lovely middle 8 arrow/sorrow I thought it was going to come back in for an instrumental coda with a big drum fill.

Good song, not great but another song than expected. Album looking to be a real solid 3/5 which is so much better than thought it would be.

"First bird to fly gets the arrow". Interesting lyric. Basically saying it was all wrong for a long time but he got the blame because he made the move to get out of it first? As in the marriage? Lovely lyrics. I hope that's it now with all the emotional stuff and we can carry on with banging tunes. Can't wait for the album.

Let me be the first voice of dissent: I was really looking forward to this one given the comments from journalists and I'm absolutely let down. This is to pop balladry what Wall of Glass was to rock: it's generic, calculated, safe, soulless and repetitive. The best things I can say about it are that it's got Liam on vocals and that I liked the ELO-like middle 8 (but it's all too brief). Let's not kid ourselves: this tune could have been given to another artist (Robbie Williams anyone?) and we wouldn't be discussing it.
I really hope it will grow on me and I'll have to eat my words, but for now I have the hunch it won't happen.

Maybe it's the speakers I'm using, but I wish the strings were a little higher in the mix. They sound like good parts, but they're a bit buried.

I really hope it will grow on me and I'll have to eat my words, but for now I have the hunch it won't happen. From a songwriting perspective, I think they're a lot of great things happening in it. But when it got to the middle 8 I did think, this is a bit boring. Not even from it being a ballad, but it was a little boring for a ballad. It sounded very Adele like (Which isn't an insult. She has great songwriting behind her). I think it might have something to do with the mix. From my perspective, unless it's my speakers, there's a lot of good stuff happening with leads and strings that are too buried. That's really the color of the song and what gives it its variation. With them being buried, it does sound a little too generic and repetitive. Still, I think it's a strong song.

A bit disappointed Hopefully it grows on me. Doesn't sound like a Liam tune at all on first listen. Generic poppy ballad

Yeah, I had the same Robbie-Williams-feel when I listened to it the first time..but as some other member pointed out a while ago, a lot of Robbie Williams tunes could easily be Oasis tunes

I have the same feeling, especially the Robbie Williams part, it sounds like a tune from Escapology, like Come Undone, which was a good record, made by professionnal songwriters. Robbie Williams had some good tunes back in the day. That will be my main criticism of this record : the tunes are well crafted, but they lack something. They lack the "something what" Oasis had for their ballads. Overall it's a nice song though. Better than Wall of Glass and Chinatown for me. But yeah, it's safe rock n roll.

Second listen, good song but absolutely not great imo. I think the OTT people will go mad but will say it's not that great in a week or two. Disappointing after all the hype, but not a bad song by any means.
