Many people wondering why Noel never showed up and a lot of flack that he couldn't fly back like Liam did.

Many people wondering why Noel never showed up and a lot of flack that he couldn't fly back like Liam did. I'm sure we will find out soon. When Noel did his 50th bday celebration on the radio was the event panned yet? I don't remember it being discussed.

I thought it was great. Brought tears to my eyes really. Liam's voice exceeded any expectations I had. This showed how much oasis' songs are parts of Manchester. I saw videos of people singing wonderwall in the concourses. It would have been amazing to have a mini oasis reunion of course but what happened was pretty great already. I never thought I'd say this but kudos to Ariana grande and Chris Martin. I hope Manchester was able to heal a little bit from these terrible events.

That was fantastic. Really pleased for Liam as well, he deserves the positive press he's been getting which hasn't always been the case. He really seems like he is in a great, happy place right now.

Just read this comment on the Daily Mail re an article about Liam's performance and Noel's absence......made me laugh
Custard Lump, Uranus, United Kingdom, about an hour ago Noel couldn't make it as he was driving Lady Penelope home.

I can't believe this is turning into "Noel's a cold hearted bitch bashing". I think that has more to do with Liam pulling off his best vocals in a decade, yet we have to listen to Chris Martin backing vocals on Live Forever.(Not a Coldplay hater, I was at their gig in April) So yeah I'm sort of disappointed they didn't do it together. Well terrorism certainly hasn't affected our lives, Oasis has not reformed. To put some positivity in this thread, I believe the "outrage" was because of we love them so much that we hope they can do this together, so it upsets us a bit that they didn't in the end.

On a wider scheme of things, I feel fucking proud for the big and important those songs (Live forever, Don't look back in anger, Wonderwall...) have become. Not only they are alternative anthems for Manchester and England. They are uniting people from all around the world against terrorism.
Man, now I remember my younger self listening those songs and dreaming of a better place. I remember my parents saying those two were drunk vaginas.I hope they understand now.
That's what we all saw in these songs right from the start. It's good they are helping the world is these difficult times.

I heard Liam had turned up after all for the gig, and WOW, his voice is sounding great! I hope he takes it easy on tour and looks after his throat. Really moving performance - I teared up at Live Forever.

Got some thoughts on last night:-
Firstly, what a first week for Liam and the band - the first gig in Manchester with all the proceeds being given away, a storming gig in London, the single being release, a gig called off in Germany due to terrorism, another gig in Germany followed, by a quick dash by private jet to a gig in Manchester for terrorism in light of another terrorist attack in London followed by heading back over to Holland for another gig today. Add in all the interviews Liam has done in between - must be a shock to the system from sitting around the house all day to this! Talk about the band being thrown in at the deep end!
My only concern is will this take an early toll on his voice? He's sounded great so far, but it will be 5 gigs (albeit a very short one last night) in 7 days after tonight with lots of travelling in between. I sincerely hope it won't.
Secondly, massive kudos for Liam for doing the One Love gig. I really think there's only positives people can take from this - even people who have no interest in Oasis/Liam and think he's just the way the media portrays him, surely must be seeing him in a slightly different light at least after this? I'm yet to listen to the gig back but on first listen, I thought he (if not the band) sounded great. I guess it's understandable with the band though as there'd be little chance to setup for this and it seemed like the drummer was using Will Champion's kit.
Finally, Noel. Very poor show in my opinion. I can sort of understand the arguments for not turning up in person as this might overshadow what the event was intended to do, but not even a video or a recorded performance? I'm not surprised Liam is publically slating him this morning.

Yeah big shame about those tweets about Noel. Just as i thought things were getting slightly better ! I didnt want it to be a huge Noel vs Liam battle on twitter - let the fans do that !
Anyway still on a high after last night, great performance. I know it was for a good cause but damn sitting through those earlier acts was tough

Maybe Noel is in Los Angeles. Ok, that would explain why he couldn't be there in person. Moving swiftly on, how about a recorded video message....?

To be honest i didnt think Liam would get a slot like the one last night, thought it might if anything have been much earlier. Again it was just brilliant by the organisers and Liam etc, they needed a proper manchester icon to be at that gig and it all worked out well. Just as i was happy as anything it was sad to see the Liam tweets about Noel this morning. He should have just stayed the big man and not mentioned anything. But a brilliant performance last night

I was watching it live on TV until Katy Perry came on stage, but couldn't stand to watch it any longer, so I switched TV off.
It was nice for the kids and people in Manchester.

It was sad not to see Noel there, but the main question should be, where was Paul?

It was sad not to see Noel there, but the main question should be, where was Paul? McCartney, Bonehead or the oldest Gallagher brother?
