Just a thread commemorating the fantastic song that is Round Are Way. How this song didn't make it on to The Masterplan is beyond me, thinking about it how this song didn't make it on to WTSMG is beyond me. I've always felt that this song could never have been released after the 90s because it would lose it's sense of celebration almost of being the biggest band in the world.
Oasis should've experimented with the use of horns more on BHN because they really drive the song and give it that upbeat vibe and would've really worked on tracks like IHITIK and IGBM in my opinion.

I love this song, so much joy in it and reminds me of where I grew up and being young. I often put it on at ultrasonic volume.

For some reason both Noel and Liam use to hate this song

Great tune and one of the most unique in their entire catalogue.

They should have taken off I Am The Walrus and The Swamp Song and replaced them with Round Are Way and D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman and The Masterplan would have been perfect.

Or The Fame? It should have been a compilation of all their b-sides. I Am the Walrus is great and The Swamp Song too (I love live version but don't like the b-side.

Round Are Way and D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman are miles better than Cloudburst and The Fame for me. Those 2 work better as tucked away b-sides for the diehards, where as Round Are Way and Spaceman deserve to be heard by a huge audience.

I would love to have a compilation of all the 90s B-sides in chronological order but I think part of what makes The Masterplan work so well is that it is structured like a real album (except for TSS and IATW). It wouldn't be the same if the album would start with Take Me Away and end with Street Fighting Man. That being sad Round Are Way should have been on there

I agree that Round Are Way would have been perfect for Be Here Now. But some decisions from Noel to leave off better tracks for The Masterplan defy any rationality.

I'm probably the only one who really likes the cover of Street Fighting Man.

I'm probably the only one who really likes the cover of Street Fighting Man. I have no real problem with it, but it hardly begs you to go back to it.

If there were ever an Oasis Blur song, this would be it. Along with Bank Holiday.

I never liked "Round are way" at all, always wondered why they even played it live. The melody is dreadful, the "They already know yeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr" in particular make me cringe everytime. & those horns, like we're at the fair... It's OK on "Sgt. Pepper" (the song), but doesn't suit Oasis at all. "The swamp song" on the other really rocks, it could've been on "(What's the story) Morning glory?" & was a perfect intro for the gigs. Too bad they never played it again after 1996...

If you're referring to the song in it's entirety being included on the album then I would have to disagree. A 4 minute jam on WTSMG would completely disrupt the flow of the album and would be skipped by the majority of people listening to it (including me) just like it is on The Masterplan.

The brass is part of what makes it a great tune, and gives it a touch of a rhythm and blues/jazz swagger to it (that little motif is taken from The Blues Brothers).

Round Are Way is a great song, and one of their best B sides. How it was left off Masterplan beggars belief.
It sounds more like a song from BHN rather than WTS, as noted earlier in this thread.

Love the song. The unplugged version really got me hooked on the song.
