No obvious winner, maybe the most unpredictable round yet. Good for the suspense, innit? I wonder if it's because, among rock albums, there's no real formula for a track 10. Depending on how long the album is, it could be the closer, the penultimate track, a hit single, or an interesting album cut that's hidden away from all but the most dedicated listeners. Contrast this with the predictable attention grabber of track 1, the big single of track 3 or 5, and the side 2 opener of track 6 or 7. But because there are so many different types of track 10s, there's no famous song that sticks out more than the others. |

Round 11 it is then, and here's one of my picks that won't win:
Kendrick Lamar - How Much A Dollar Cost
I think Kendrick was the guy that made me listen more to hip hop, and if I would ever try and spark anyone else's intrest for the genre by doing a playlist, this would be one of the first tracks that I would put on it. Not only is it beautifully arranged, but the lyrics tell a story that will keep you at the edge of your seat, while simultaneously delivering a message that will always stay relevant. Also, the cinematic "reveal" at the end of this song is something special.

And that's i. An uplifting rap anthem about self-empowerment that also not-so-subtly talks about killing cops? It doesn't get any better than this!  I'm sure i will also have absolutely zero chance of winning too, but we'll both know that it'll be better than whatever does. Even Nightswimming (which I also like). Just realised thst I didn't know the meaning of the word penultimate - up until I googled it just now ^^ I thought it meant last instead of second to last, hence my confusion |
