I like the album name "Liam" Definitely picking the "right" singles is the most important imo. I can go as far back as "don't believe the truth"...Where I think horrible singles were chosen. Both Beady Eye album singles were horrible and I also feel Noel chose bad Singles especially on the last record. So for me it's all about picking the most "radio friendly" tunes off the record. As for the 1st single it definitely should be followed by a quick album release. I wonder if Liam's camp will pull any gimmicks and release the whole album outta nowhere....I wouldn't be surprised. That may even be the best option for Liam so people don't dissect one song so much and instead have a whole album to selectively pick and choose the ones that stand out for each individual.... It kind of diflects attention off of one release. Lyla and The Importance of Being Idle are great single tbh. Lyla isn't the best song, but it is catch and radio friendly. DBTT didn't have much to draw on from he singles department but those were the best of the bunch and did very well indeed on the charts. Oddly enough, HC was a terrible album but loaded with radio material.

I'd take the name "liam" over "different gear Still Speeding" or "high flying birds" any day. Two of the worst names in rock music history I actually like "Different Gear Still Speeding." I don't think it's a bad title at all tbh. If only it was different. I think the only thing different about it was the pianos on bring the light.

I would have went with "keep the dream alive" or "love like a bomb" on Don't believe the truth" personally. Lyla is overrated. Not horrible not single worthy or radio friendly. Idle was ok... Would have been my 3rd or 4th single. I think it was 3rd? I might have even even went with "a bell will ring" over Lyla....Plus I'm sure it was probably Noel's Call and judging by his last 2 albums he needs someone else 2 pick his singles aswell cuz he is weak at that. I'm surprised"What a Life" was even on the album let alone a single.
But to each their own....

LLAB is an extremely bad vocal take. Can't believe they allowed it. KTDA sounds like Oasis covering an Oasis cover band. A bad thing...........

Lyla was a #1 hit in the UK and a hit in general in various countries (I still hear it on Dutch radio sometimes) and What A Life was definitely Noel's biggest single as a solo artist. They may not have been the strongest songs on the albums they were on, but they were definitely the most catchy and radio friendly ones.

And I consider "What a Life" one of the worst songs ever made by Noel. I cringe when I hear it. It's my least favorite on the album by a mile. The vocal, lyrics, melody, guitar. Skip it every time. But again...To each their own.

Unless we count "write good songs", the best thing I can hope for is that Liam uses his own name (basically guaranteed at this point, right?) and picks a good lead single. I could imagine Beady Eye being quite a big more successfull had they been called "Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye" and used Four Letter Word as the first release. Honestly though, apart from that, NGHFB was always going to be more successfull than BDI because Noel's songs are better.

Well as for Noel I would have chosen "song remains the same" "lock all the doors" and "you know we can go back" as singles off of chasing yesterday....then the last single would have been "ballad"
That would have been massive.

If Beady Eye said that they would play Oasis songs, they would have been much more succesfull. 90% of the people want to hear Oasis songs in the crowd.

Release a single, get the album out 2-3 weeks later so he can ride the hype of the new song rather than waiting months and letting all the excitement around him dwindle out. maybe two singles might be fine too

Lliam should come out with a wacky concept album about being a hippie and call it "the hole in my shoe and all that" and the artwork is him in a velvet waistcoat with a diagram of the universe on the back and a joss stick hanging out his nose
Or he could just call it liam....

I have no idea why people are still going on about singles. I know a lot of you probably want a big single but really what we want is a good song that sucks a lot of the considerable Oasis fanbase that had stopped caring about Liam back in to buying his album. Thats where his success will lie, a well received album and a well attended tour and then guess what, yeah we get more of both.
