There is no reason. Like why is columbia caalled Columbia? We don't know, and Noel doesn't know. Maybe because it was released in Mexico.

I always assumed it was a reference to Noel's favourite film (apart from Star Wars - A New Hope) The Good The Bad and The Ugly, he once said it was the film equivalent of I am the Walrus, every time you experience it you take new things from it . His favourite character was Tuco, The Mexican, as portrayed by Eli Wallach.

Like why is columbia caalled Columbia? We don't know, and Noel doesn't know. I think that Noel knows that very well. And it's not that hard for you to figure that out.

Yes I would have thought the answer was quite obvious considering one of Columbia's most famous exports. As to THE MEXICAN I seem to recall that started out as an AA instrumental - and if you listen to the instrumental version of that song (particularly the opening) it does have a very vague latino feel to it that might have been even more obvious on the original AA mix. Maybe I'm just hearing things. Anyway, I suspect Noel added the lyrics later but probably just kept the original title.

Revolution Song and Here's a Candle too. well yea revolution song has been around since SOTSOG or before plus lock all the doors has been around since the DM days besides the chorus so really that only leaves riverman, while the song remains the same, you know we cant go back and X ray eyes as completely new songs for the album and you can probably bet one or more of those was around already, seem to remember seeing that while the song remains the same was destined for the AA album as well but Im not sure on that. thats why im hoping his 3rd album really will be something abit new and different seeing as HFB was mostly a continuation of oasis material he was writing that didnt get used and then CY was abit of a clear up album of songs he didnt end up using for various things. just want to see a 100% or near 100% solo album of new tunes and new styles now that wasnt originally intended for something else, like people have said really, if he doesnt take a leap on this album then he mostly likely never will, hes had two fairly safe albums so now would be logical time to shake it up. the only reason CY has some more adventurous songs on there is because Noel binned the AA project, its like hes too nervous to go all the way with a new sound so put those more risky songs with some safe stuff just in case people dont it like, that way he doesnt end up with an entire album that people are panning.

Wasn't a hotel called 'Columbia' where they were? guigsysEstring The Columbia Hotel in Bayswater, London- Columbia Hotel where the band were kicked out after an exuberant night ended with the manager's Mercedes being damaged which in turn led them to being banned (only the third band in the hotel's history). The band would later stay at The Embassy Hotel further down Bayswater Road.

maybe he was in a car looking for the hotel, the driver abit lost on how to get into the car park said "I can see the signs but theyre not very clear" Noel walked into the room, looked out the window down at the car park and said "there we were now here we are" before seeing the beds were proper comfy and Noel led down on it and said "I cant tell you the way I feel cause the way I feel is oh so new to me" before getting up and jumping on the bed shouting "come on come on come on yea yea yea!", his mate then told him he could get room service and should look at the menu, it was all swanky food to which Noel stated "all this confusion, nothings the same to me" just a thought. btw side thought, them premier inn beds really are soft as fuck if your ever in two minds about staying there.

The Columbia Hotel as I have mentioned above was a fairly well known Rock n' Roll haunt in the 1990's for both road crews and artists- Independent 1996- Rock' N Roll Hotels The title probably has a double meaning given that the hotel was a party venue and also shares it's name with a country well known for a certain narcotic that the band were particularly fond of

Is this thread a try not to say cocaine challange or what ? its abit of an unspoken game around here as far as Im concerned I only refer to BHN thermite or michael caine as "flour" or "party sugar" tbh, we all know what it is, might as well beat around the bush with it.
