Bono's constant "give us yer money Bob Geldof impressions" are very irritating but he is a hell of a singer. I for one can't wait for these gigs, just deciding on Twickenham or Croke Park now!! I'll be going to Croker and I'd advise you to go as well if you can afford it. U2 always give it that little extra in their hometown.

Friend in the loop says those 8 Euro dates could expand to 12 dates Anymore UK shows? If not me and the mrs may take a trip to Amsterdam Was told they probably will do some extra shows in the same cities(deffo Dublin, London) but nothing somewhere else. Don't see Noel doing other gigs at all this year.

The Joshua Tree on its own trumps everything in Noel's entire solo career.
Support act is about right.

I'll be attending this at Giants stadium. Why the hell not? 10 miles from my apartment. U2. Joshua Tree. Good times.

So is Noel doing the support for the whole tour? Nice bit of exposure for him when they go to America, if so. Certainly, I can't see any other way he'd be playing stadium gigs over there, if it wasn't for a band like U2 going on after him...

No surprise Noel is gonna support U2. The've been friends for years. As mimmihopps said , I'm not pleased though. I can't stand them since I first heard them when I was 10. And I'm not a hipster. And I didn't know Oasis back then. And U2 is responsible for "With Or Without You", "One", "Beautiful Day", enough said. Knowing matt is a great fan, I've tried Achtung Baby and Zooropa. Didn't like it at all. Guess they're not for me.

Or Boy and War?

For a start, it is a U2 gig for U2 fans - it's not as if Bono himself is going to hijack a High Flying Birds gig! U2 are also one of his musical heroes, so from his own perspective, it must mean something of personal pride for himself - is he not allowed to revel in his influences or is that only restricted to acts Noel fans like? As a big star himself used to playing in stadiums, it is hardly as if he is selling out either and he's not got any hope of playing stadiums without Oasis. I'd have thought Noel's fans would thank U2 for giving him the exposure but the response has been to the contrary.

With or Without You? Beautiful Day? Awful songs? You've got to be kidding me. Yep, brilliantly crafted pop songs. The Edge's minimalistic outro on WOWY is ethereal and understated, when it could easily have been melodramatic. Plus, the high pitched sustained guitar part that runs through it gives the entire song a mystical feel to it that sounds like nothing else from the 80s. Cheap U2 imitators or X Factor butcherings shouldn't undermine the brilliance of the song. And Beautiful Day too - 24 years in to their career and they make a massive comeback with a euphoric song with a huge chorus, the type of thing that Coldplay could only wish to do. I love the intro more specifically on that with the pulsing synth keyboards and the perfectly synthesised beat box - it has a great rhythm to it. Again, chorus is great and the outro is like freight train with the relentless riff from The Edge. And, call me a soft sap, but I really like the lyrics too about finding the goodness in the world that goes beyond materialism. They had some very good singles from that album, but I think it's the last genuinely great single they ever did. In an ideal world, they should have split up after All That You Can't Leave Behind and the equally successful tour (Live In Dublin is great). Would have been the perfect cherry on top for a great career, without the needless diminishing returns since.

lubeck check out 'Mothers of the Disappeared', it sounds nothing like a U2 song. Very lo-fi and subtle.

U2 are already being punk ass bitches about this Joshua Tour. When asked if they would perform the album chronologically, The Edge said it's kinda problem because they don't want to begin with "Where The Streets Have No Name" which is usually one of their big numbers to end their main set or encore. To me this is weak. Play the album in ORDER. You got plenty of big guns to play during your fucking encores. Open the show with a bang. You certainly made a big statement by opening the album with that song.
Man up U2!!!!

It's kind of upbeat and not a sing-along type. They can definitely start out the gig with that song.

Just got tickets to the concert at the Olympic Stadium, in Barcelona. It'll be my very first time seeing any of Gallaghers live. I'm excited as fuck!!! However, I think it would've been better to wait for a solo Noel gig. My parents, big U2 fans, didn't think the same tho

I'm no U2 fan really.... but 'One' is a top 10 song all-time regardless of genre!
It often gets slagged for the same reasons as Wonderwall frankly.

People think that U2 should support NGHFB instead of Noel supporting U2. I think that U2 are like 5 times bigger than NGHFB, so it is right that Noel is supporting U2. If Oasis reunites, U2 should support them, but for now U2 are one of the biggest bands in the world. Why is U2 doing a Joshua Tree tour after 30 years anyways? This is actually a good contender for the dumbest thing I've ever read on this forum. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're trolling.

Where The Streets Have No Names is usually played right before the end of the main set or during an encore.

Although U2 is not my favorite band, they've produced an imposing body of work, and I can think of 20 songs off the top of my head that I actively enjoy or admire. The Edge is an all-time great. The rhythm section is pretty ace. They put on a fantastic live show. Having said that: 1) Only one of those 20 songs was released in the last 15 years 2) They released the worst first single off of an album from a major band I have ever heard (Get On Your Boots). 3) The hilariously klutzy solemnity of Bono's lyric writing has been badly exposed since the Edge started running out of riffs 4) Bono is an absolutely intolerable personality (your experience may vary) I think the pair of them have been on a steep decline since the 2000s. The Edge has become all but absent producing nothing but generic music, it's not just riffs but the actual structures of the songs themeselves have become boringly conventional. And Bono has been churning out the most uninspired lyrics of his entire career. 90s was the peak for both of them in my opinion.
