I've noticed that many Oasis fans like either Arctic Monkeys or Muse, or both. Which one do you like? I personally like AM more.

Love Arctic Monkeys. AM is actually my favourite of theirs, and I think it's a bona fide classic along with their first album. In terms of heavyweight British bands delivering a massive selling album that delivers commercially and critically around the world, it's on a par with Coldplay's Viva La Vida personally.
I like Muse in a passing manner - I like a few of their songs but it's all too bombastic and hollow mostly, but they totally throw the kitchen sink at their live gigs which I admire. In the age of the hipster, it's nice to see some bands not being sniffy and pretentious with regards to ambition. Though I can't name a song of theirs from the last ten years though....

Arctic Monkeys.
Muse is to Britain what Nickelback is to Canada. They make some good songs. But they put out a hell of a lot of shit in between. They're a 'singles' band. Too formulaic. Too much regurgitation. Their attempts at experimentation fringe on parody.

I guess I'm too American for the Artic Monkeys. Tried listening to their debut and also heard a couple of their newer songs on the radio a while back and just couldn't get into them. Frontman seems like he tries too hard to be cool.
Aside from the boring track 'Madness', never really took a chance at exploring Muse's sound.

AM started out as a very British band lyrically and sound wise, with the sound seemingly evolving into more American sounds but for whatever reason I couldn't get into them either both back in 2005/06 or today. I find Alex Turner aside from the trying too hard to be cool shtick has nothing to say on or off record really either, which is a bit off putting for me. Muse I actually rated at first with the Jeff Buckley references and some of their early work, but they have descended into as The Invisible Sun has already said parody in many ways. So to answer the original OP question neither ideally at this point but if I had to I'd take the early Muse records.

Everything up to Black Holes & Revelations (hard to believe it was released ten years ago, the fact it seems like yesterday for me makes me feel sick!) seemed to suggest they were onto something, certainly I have many friends who thought they were excellent. Some really highly rated records there. I don't own those albums but the ones I remember from the radio still stick in my mind and were impressive. They were on the cusp of world stardom but they never really achieved it and it all seemed to fall flat.

They were on the cusp of world stardom but they never really achieved it and it all seemed to fall flat. I remember their label were so confident that US success was imminent that back in 2002 they forced Celine Dion to drop the use of the word 'muse' from her Las Vegas shows so they wouldn't be associated with it, during which negotiations her management offered $50,000 to buy the rights! - BBC 2002Looking at that link it's easy to forget how hyped and rated they were, NME best band 2001, Kerrang! best live band and at the time nominated for Q best live band as well. They have had success for sure with approximately 20,000,000 album sales over seven albums, but they never had the mega selling crossover that was predicated of them over the years.

AM for me. Loved the band as they started. Their crowd was pretty mental Although I like most of their newer stuff Alex and the rest are too much on drugs nowadays. Can't stand Alex's act since AM

I'd rather listen to Coldplay or Kasabian. What about Kings Of Leon? I've never interested in Muse and I've seen Arctic Monkeys 4 times. Loved their albums, but can't stand Alex Turner these days.

AM these days, although I hate Alex Turner's image. Also, to me they weren't that great live.
Muse have made a few amazing albums, but the last couple of years have seen them releasing a lot of bombastic shit. At first I thought they were a Radiohead rip off, but the last few albums has seen them taking more of a Queen route, without it being as good as Queen.
As a live band, I'm sure Muse are much better than AM. Seen plenty of footage and tit always looks and sounds spectacular. I ALMOST went to see them last year myself, but couldn't be arsed to pay so much money for tickets. Strangely enough I did want to do that for Coldplay. Hmm..

I barely know Artic Monkeys. My brother had one album of them: Suck It and See. Listened to it once and never gone back to them. I like Muse, saw them at the Amsterdam Arena a few years ago.

I can't decide. AM was good, but I otherwise haven't liked Arctic Monkeys since Favourite Worst Nightmare and Muse since Black Holes and Revelations. I'd rather listen to Coldplay or Kasabian too.

Don't like either but I'll take Muse. Hysteria / Absolution is better than anything the Arctic Monkey's have done.

I'm an Arctic Monkeys fan so that's an easy choice for me. In my opinion they haven't made a bad album. They keep evolving in sound which is interesting. A lot of people seem to have a problem with Turner's image nowadays. I don't really mind it, it was funny to see him perform with the last shadow puppets last summer, the singing and the performance was still great.
To me he is one of the best songwriters out there nowadays.

Love Arctic Monkeys.
First two albums were great, and their last album was great too.
Two dud albums in-between however.
Some great B-sides too along the way.
Muse aren't even on my radar.

I'm not a fan of Muse but I've grown to like them, especially Bellamy, after I started playing their songs on guitar. His riffs are very technical and "calculated", he's using lots of effects and his lyrics are often about stuff like science. I can see why some people don't like that but I personally don't think it's a bad thing, it's their own sound.
I like Arctic Monkeys too but they're nothing more than a decent band for me right now. Their debut album was great and FWN is not bad either but after that they've lost a bit of a character.
I should add that my thoughts about Muse are only coming from a few songs I've heard. I've never listened to their albums, just the songs I've played on Rocksmith.
E: Oh yeah, I just checked and I haven't heard a single song after Black Holes And Revelations. All the songs I know are from their early albums.
